Dissapointing

I am a HUGE fan of Dave Gorman, and although I have never seen him live(as much as I want to), I absolutely love Modern Life is Goodish. I was immediately sort of confused by the existence of this show, and I was sadly right to be so.

To put it simply, Dave Gorman is a panel show host. He seems incredibly nervous in the show, and doesn't let his guests talk as much as he should and all of the "challenge" tasks are incredibly awkward to watch. He seems to have written jokes beforehand and is looking for ways to shove them in, treating it like another episode of modern life is goodish.

At the end of the day, why should I watch this when I could be watching any number of hilarious British panel shows currently airing? It's pretty funny, sure, but I just fail to quite see the point.

Doesn't know what it is.

Dave Gorman is one of my favourite comedians. Important Astrology Experiment, Are you Dave Gorman?, Googlewack Adventure were all brilliant. Then there was Modern Life is Goodish which didn't disappoint, it was amazing and I was very excited when I saw Dave The Gorman was getting new show on Dave The Channel and I enjoyed it enough when it aired but wasn't great.

Having watched it a second time I now understand where this show fell short for me, It didn't know what is was. It want's to be a panel show but feel like it wants to be Goodish too and it doesn't really work. There are amusing bits but they tend be Dave explaining something to the guest which he has on the big screen like he did with MLIG and guest add very little. I don't know if the idea for the show came from Dave The Gorman or Dave The Channel, but it was like they were trying to recapture the magic of MLIG without actually making more MLIG.

It is watchable and if there was to be a second series I would probably still watch it.

GOOD

This is Dave Gorman. He has a show, and it's very much a show that someone named Dave Gorman would probably make.

I like his guests. They are probably all friends with each other. I can imagine that they hang out at bars and talk about these things and they all think that Dave Gorman is very strange and weird for caring about whatever these inventions are.

Modern Life certainly is Terms. And Goodish. And Conditional.

Literally.

What an R-List comedian.

Dave, what happened?

Have followed Dave Gorman for many years, seeing him often both at the Edinburgh Fringe and around the country. We also very much enjoyed his Modern Life is Goodish tv series. Was a little concerned when I heard his latest show included celebrity guests, but I must admit I trusted Dave to know best. I was very disappointed. The show is just a clone of other panel shows, with gags set up for the guests to offer (the often not very funny) punchlines for. The first section had me cringing as even the typical DG material of finding the funny side of the banal, (this time in the FAQs of websites) fell very flat - I just thought it was all pretty unfunny. It got going a bit more after the break, but everything he did could have been done better without the guests. I understand he found the Goodish series lengthy to make, but I'd rather he had not done anything that this. We couldn't bring ourselves to watch the second episode at all.

Oh Dear

Dave is not a panel show host, he is an observational comedian with an eye for detail and a wry observation. Here the guests are just to take some of the run time up so Dave can do a shorter version of what he does best. Sadly not only do we get a parade of unwanted and pointless guests, we also get a stack of recycled Good-ish material.

Sometimes Dave (the channel) hit gold with the likes of Taskmaster, Judge Romesh and Modern Life is Good-ish. Other times you get this and Ultimate Worrier.

Go see him live instead.

Truly awful

Followed Dave Gorman for years and loved his comedy and obscure look at the world. However, this is awful. I'd a few episodes saved and started tonight. After the first I thought it must get better, it doesn't. All deleted. Watch a repeat of anything else.

Oh, dear

I've been a fan of Modern Life is Goodish from the get-go. It was a great show, very observational and funny.

This, however, falls completely short. Every episode is more or less the same (after having seen 2 episodes of 'funny names for colours' I thought that would be enough - but no, it gets rehashed for a third episode), the jokes are pre-written and not always funny, the guest comedians are often 'cut short' and not given time to expand and 'go crazy'.

It's not what I'm used to from Dave. I love Taskmaster and many other Dave shows, but this one unfortunately doesn't cut it for me.

Don't expect anything even near Modern Life is Goodish....

Shame.

Very disappointed

Modern Life is Goodish - brilliant, couldn't get enough. Terms and Conditions - absolutely awful. Can't believe Dave Gorman lowered his standards to this rubbish.
