Writer/director Jeffrey Brown said he wrote the script around a personal experience where a trip to Cape Cod resulted in ending a relationship with a woman he was dating. He then weaved in his deep affection for '50s sci-fi.
Director Jeffrey Brown said his script was influenced by seven films: Muertos vivientes (1956), Los usurpadores de cuerpos (1978), Secuestradores de cuerpos (1993), Los parásitos asesinos: escalofrío mortal (1975), Like Crazy (2011), Alien, el octavo pasajero (1979) and Pánico mortal (1955).
The film was shot at producer Andrew Corkin's father's North Truro residence in Cape Cod during the off season.
Had its USA debut at The Brooklyn Horror Film Festival in October 2019.
Shudder, AMC Networks' premium streaming service for horror, thriller and the supernatural, announced in October 2019 that it acquired all rights in its territories to the film.
