Paula Peril: Midnight Is the Darkest Hour

Jimmy Smith: [Enters, sees Paula sitting by the pool] There you are!

Paula Peril: I need you to hear my thoughts.

Jimmy Smith: All right.

Paula Peril: Okay, so what do you think? We know that Carleoni is trying to take control of the docks-- moving in drug-related cargo...

Jimmy Smith: Yeah, he tried to buy land, and was laughed at!

Paula Peril: Right! Well, not the best character references...

Jimmy Smith: Yeah! And then that guy, Angel, acts like he even knew where the explosion came from...

Paula Peril: So, let's assume for a moment... that he IS telling the truth...

Jimmy Smith: [laughs] Oh, right...

Paula Peril: I know-- but what if he IS?

Jimmy Smith: [considers] Well... it'd mean a third party...

Paula Peril: Right, that follows... someone who's trying to stop Carleoni...

Jimmy Smith: Or help him?... Maybe.

Paula Peril: No, they destroyed his property-- probably wanted him IN it...

Jimmy Smith: ...I mean, look-- that's interesting... but there's no proof.

[pauses, changes the subject]

Jimmy Smith: ... I thought you did a good job tonight... It must be tough being more glamourous than your subjects...

Paula Peril: Right... bleff...

[pauses, and then grabs Jimmy by the arm]

Paula Peril: C'mon, we're going to my place... there's something that we need to do-- tonight

[releases his arm; exits]

Jimmy Smith: [pauses, fantasizing] REALLY?

[follows her QUICKLY]
