Growing Up Sucks

Araburu Kisetsu no Otome-domo, or O Maidens in Your Savage Season, is another series I've been watching for a good while. Based on the manga series by Mari Okada, the series revolves around a group of high schoolgirls attending a literature cub meeting and reading books that would otherwise be considered raunchy if not for the fact that they had become classics. As a way to break the ice, each girl is asked what they wanted the most in life before they died, and one girl's wish takes the girls on a journey through the awkward stages of adulthood.

The show isn't that much of an easy watch. To me, there are many moments that can be cringe-inducing, and uncomfortable. But...that is exactly how it's like to grow up. You start feeling the changes taking place in your body; your hormones start acting up; you may start picking up on things that you hadn't before, etc. For all intents and purposes, that is where the show shines. Growing up sucks. Let's all be honest with that statement.

How each girl copes with it is also different. The protagonist of the series, Kazusa Onodera, is absolutely terrified by the concept of sex, but it becomes even more complicated when she realizes that she was in love with her childhood friend Izumi Norimoto. However, I feel that because of her mind being too preoccupied with the latter, that often comes into conflict with her progress in forming a relationship with Izumi. This is one of my main gripes about the series because while it's apparent that the Izumi x Kazusa relationship will take up a majority of the plot, especially how we now have a third wheel coming into play, but because I find nothing to latch onto, I can't bring myself to care for whether they become a couple or not.

Niina Sugawara is considered the crane of her class because of her fair appearance. There's some interesting things to her such as her having taken an acting class or how she can read into people's deep desires, but there is also something...disconcerting about her. Later episodes give more insight into this, but she is still a pretty weird girl. Unlike with Kazusa, though, Niina is more open to her wants and desires which often led her into receiving attention from creeps.

Momoko Sudo is Kazusa's childhood friend who also shares her fear of sexuality. At first, I felt that there wasn't much to her character, but one of the later episodes implicates that Sudo may be shifting towards having feelings for unconventional people, judging by her interactions with Niina. This might prove to be interesting.

Rika Sonezaki so far is my favorite character. The president of the literature club, Rika at first comes across as a prickly young lady who judges other girls as being harlots. Yes, while she started off being unlikable, it is actually her interactions with another student Shun, and she started to develop. I'm serious, the ending of episode 5 is one of the most beautiful moments I have seen in a long time.

Lastly, there s Hitoha Hongo who is an inexperienced author who also writes more...lewdish works. Because of her inexperience in regards to sex, her writing can at best be taken as the writing of a middle-aged man. I am so far loving her interactions with her teacher. Of course, nothing comes out from that, but it is nevertheless sweet. There are other characters such as Izumi who has a deep, deep love for buses and transportation (to the point that the first episode ended with the memorable WTF moment); Yamagishi who became the advisor of the literature club reluctantly; Shun, a young man who treats Rika with dignity; and others.

The opening and ending themes are also fairly good. Voice work's good. The animation is also decent. There are some moments where it feels that the animation and lighting are delicately crafted. Overall, the show is not necessarily one of those must watch of the season, but the growing up aspect of it really resonates.

Only if you like romance

The base story was okay, but it also contained a lot of weird things that I don't know if I liked or not.

I would have liked it even more if they had behaved more normally and not the typical overreaction that is unfortunately too common in Japanese anime.

Like or hate I guess, loving this anime is probably too rare among the viewers because it didn't really touch me as good series do.

Do not watch it if you do not like romantic anime, was expecting more since it was almost half way into becoming an eight overall.

What a bumpy ride. Light hearted comedy, a bit heavy and dark towards the end.

Started this series with the hope that it was a light-hearted rom-com and it is but then again it gets so realistically heavy and dark. Through this series we feel the struggle of adolescents being hit with new/unexpected feelings and trying to grip this new founded feelings and concepts.

There are stuffs that even hit a bit on the general norm. Things that is norm doesn't necessarily has to be good or bad and same goes the reverse.

Though the last two episodes felt a bit unrealistic but guess that was how they decided to end. The characters at the end understood themselves, their new self and their newfound feelings well. They have all grown from the person they were in the first episode.

I thought it was ridiculous

I'll admit that when I initially saw the first episode of this show, I thought it was ridiculous and corny, but as I continued to watch it, the show grew on me in ways I never would have imagined. What first appeared to be the beginning of a serious series evolved into something uplifting, realistic, funny, and just fantastic.

Every episode of this series felt exhilarating to watch. I would chuckle uncontrollably or shudder in memory of how I used to feel, and then I would be amazed at what would happen next. Seeing these girls do their best to comprehend their emotions and know how to communicate them appropriately made me very happy, as most individuals of all ages find it difficult to accomplish.

I'm in love with this series and can picture myself watching it repeatedly, each time experiencing the same emotions as I'm experiencing at the moment. I want people to give this series another try because, as someone who didn't enjoy it at first, perhaps you will too. I really hope that everyone who has seen it thus far and everyone who will watch it in the future will find the same level of enjoyment in it as I have.

I loved it <33

The anime is pretty solid for being about growing up and deals with topics that normal romance anime's won't deal with or even mention. If you're looking for an anime that is all about that classic fighting arc then you won't find it here, but if you're looking for something nice to watch then you've found it!!

Teenage Desires and Chaos

This show takes you on a wild ride, shifting from lighthearted moments to dark, intense themes in the blink of an eye. The characters are deeply flawed and mentally unstable, which makes them feel incredibly real. While the story is unique and engaging, what truly stands out is how it explores the way young girls navigate and perceive sexuality.

That said, there were moments that made me uncomfortable. Those parts almost made me want to stop watching altogether. But since I had already invested time in the series, I decided to stick with it, and I'm glad I did. By the end, the show managed to redeem itself and left me with a sense of satisfaction.

One of the most striking aspects is how it portrays teenage girls as just as complex and, at times, as depraved as boys-if not more so. Each character is uniquely messed up in their own way, creating a mix of emotions that keeps you hooked. It's a rollercoaster of a series, but one that's worth the ride.

Great uses of every character but still I'll give this as intermediate anime

The utilisation of every character specially those five girl were really good its not too much romantic because it doesn't contain cringe on romance.this anime much focus on adolescence period, friendship, feelings of everyone in the show. Some points which felt weird in this anime but i think even i feel sometime attracted towards adult sexually Also i appreciate how this anime music, intro, animation is decent. Also every 5 character minds were twisted and confused just like a teenager but I don't know many of comedy didn't work 😕 because of maybe some difficult or i dont get girl stuff a lot but this anime still deserve 6 to 7 star therefore i gave 6 star.

Oo my lustrous youth hope i will be able to see my review when i am an adult

It doesn't have to be complicated ,if you are uncertain about yourself or your feelings just go and watch this anime its a true art and i couldn't say more than that i felt connected to all the characters ,when i remembered how i acted when i was acknowledged how sex works. Soo in my opinion ""i madara declare you the strongest"" that's all i have to say. I hope you guys or girls will understand how i feel this anime made me realize a lot of things but most importantly, That i was not alone in this world.

Check this out

Just now I watched this anime it's too good of saying about the teens when they hit puberty..... "There will be always first time for everything " this is the point teens should understand. I personally feel to split the episodes 1to 4. - Its about the feelings neither love nor lust hits the teen like should have a boyfriend or girlfriend (based on your perspective) that's how puberty plays with teens within 14-19. 5to 10- I love these episodes where the feelings change, having a love triangle, love chain. about friends and lovers understanding one and another.how they feel about you.... It was the sweetest part. And last 11 and 12-I see some people don't get these two episodes or can't understand what they trying to say. (in my perspective) I try to explain it. In these episodes teens should understand the feelings that contains love on one and lust on another.the feelings should be meaningful .In society's view it's a bad thing when they see boy and girl together. What I'm trying to say is puberty is natural, when you understand the meaning of it and it's purity you will able to see the beautiful world around you. Adults can understand it because they walked through it..... Try to life a meaningful life when puberty hits you....... I wish I could live my life once again when I was a teen....... Thank you for reading and spending your precious time ..

Trains Are Metaphors For Something

O maidens in your savage season Is a drama full sex comedy about five maidens finding out what is between their legs and what they feel for our men.

It starts smallly with some books with some metaphors that are a bit juicy and a bit horny, but before or later the tidal wave cannot be held back, and everybody has to figure out what they're feeling.

And they do it in a fun way. Every girl has a unique shell, They have to figure out. They have a good chemistry with each other and males in the show, it is a really fun and romantic sex comedy.

The sexual drama feels sincere it doesn't feel like it's there for sex appeal. It can really be felt that it's a woman that is written it, because seksuality is done in a tasteful way, but still very funny.

The show is perfect with 12 episode the story didn't need more, and it feels so well balanced and with no filler.

The character design is cute and varied we even have a school troop teacher who has a bit of meat on her bones. It is a very pretty cast but it ordinary pretty. It is pleasing and varied.

There are lots of cringe moments, but it is love so it cannot be avoided and certainly at that age, mistakes are made. But that is the deal one go through in The Blues of Childhood. Would recommend.
