I love seeing a powerful woman in a position that has historically been male dominated in the real world.
Gives a glimpse into how women respond to leadership. Confident/powerful but still humble, strong/fierce without losing compassion, brilliant/passionate yet open to hearing/encouraging ideas and views brought forth by others.
I'm looking forward to seeing how the character of Tommy evolves!

The pilot was good enough to get me to tune in, again. Love Edie Falco. As previously mentioned, she has good instincts in choosing roles.

I hadn't started watching till I had a little extra time to catch up on the DVR today. My expectations were low, since people were complaining about another radical lefty preachy type show with emphasis on a gay female "powerful woman" boss. Well, okay, she's all of that, but she's also got a Tom Selleck streak. She sticks up for her cops, bashes on reporters, has a touch of humor. Plus it's Edie Falco! I wish more people would give this one a chance.

I don't know what show the other people who wrote reviews here were watching, but I loved it. They whine about the show being too "political" or filled with "hot button" issues. Well, sorry, not sorry to the complainers, if your delicate sensibilities are offended by the realities of our world today, but it is what it is. Why shouldn't television shows reflect that? For me it made the show more interesting. When it ended, I wanted more.
A great storyline, social relevance, a strong cast and an always charismatic Edie Falco make this show something I will be watching. Maybe the others should stick to Sponge Bob.

When this series initially started apprehension existed about the new chief of police, being a lesbian. This fortunately only played a minor role but had many viewers worried throughout the series.
The show became a slick fast moving and exciting story which reached its crescendo in episode 12, the final episode.
Regretfully this series has not been renewed.
Nevertheless, If you like an interesting and different cop show with a complete ending, give it a try - it will not disappoint.

It's Edie Falco what more do you need to know? Early days but gut feeling this is going to be a great replacement for "The Closer" with Kyra Sedgwick.

The has the making it do a decent albeit not a great cop show.
The characters are developing and only time will judge.
Not all cop shows need to be filled with violence to make a good story.
If you nay sayers need something to trash, start with "Survivor"

I was looking forward to this as a fan of Edie Falco. But, good lord, the scripts are poorly written and some scriptwriter needs to put the infantile, whiny character of Kate (and by association her husband) out of everyone's misery. Bring in some better writers and I'll keep watching but not until.

Not sure what everyone else watched. First two episodes are engaging and relevant to current time's. Great to see Edie on the screen again.

I have never watched Edie Falco shows but I do like the California spin opposite of Blue Bloods. The casting looks good and not full of blood, guts and gore of other shows.
I thought it might be another political smash and grab at first but it did not turn into a conservative comedy like other CBS shows.
I did have to do a rewind when it appeared Martin Milner from Adam-12 was escorting Arturo out of his house.

Edie is too talented to be in some crap like this. Maybe she took the role just to continue her screen presence. Being seen on a crappy show is better than not being seen at all. That's show biz.

Had really low expectations with the ridiculously low rating of 4.8*@146v (think I also saw it at 1.2* earlier).
What's up with the hate on shows/movies with female leads, who may or may not be gay?? Batwoman, Captain Marvel (on RT), etc.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to episode 2 and the rest of season 1.

Complex and nuanced. Edie Falco perfect for role. Great premeire. Already hooked into the relationships and the drama. Look forward to the series. Thanks CBS!!

Surprised by the hate. It certainly does try and tick all the boxes in terms of political correctness. However, I think the storyline will hopefully tighten up. Eddie Falcon is as great as always, and certainly made the show worth watching. Hopefully, it gets to run out the season and can grow into itself.

Solid writing, character development, and acting from all roles.
Interesting political commentary.
Interesting and real life dilemmas for the characters.
Every low rating I've seen is because of the personal bigotry of the reviewer.

I think this show has potential, as well as some current great dialogue and drama, but like far too many films and TV series nowadays, the writers seem more determined to spread their personal views than deliver entertainment. The show sometimes will seemingly go out of its way to remind us that men are bad, white people are out of touch and ICE is a terrorist organization.
I actually hope there is a season two, there is a lot to love so far, but hopefully they put cop drama and the conspiracy thrills ahead of one-side politics.

As expected, Edie is fabulous. However, this is extremely liberal. So much so, that twenty minutes in, I knew exactly where it was headed. I was correct. I was looking forward to an awesome new show. It's not going to materialize. The writers chose a different avenue.

I just watched the first episode and loved it. The writing was fresh & peppy. Kinda reminded me of West Wing in that I rewound to make sure I caught all the repartee & underlying meaning. Characters like the jaded mayor who still had morals, the police chief who eschews politics & has a knack for surrounding herself with good people, the ex-Chief with a smarmy past are all great. I jumped to find out more about it & was shocked by the hater reviews posted about this show. They all seem written by the same person, a thin skinned troll fearful of a strong female character. I'm going to continue with TOMMY and can't wait for the next episode.

*Tommy is a pretty good TV show. It stars Edie Falco and I've loved her since the *Sopranos. Great actress. God knows I have plenty of shows on my "to watch" list but I wanted to give *Tommy a chance. I'm glad I did because so far, so good. I hope the show delves in more into Tommy's family and maybe her time in NY. That would be cool.

So sad for the quite-talented Edie Falco. Rampant laziness from the scriptwriting, most of the acting, and even the oh-so-manipulative soundscoring. This ship will sink without an intervention.

The acting is great and this show may seem like detective TV lite but while I don't know why, I really like it. While most of the characters are kind of confusing, our leading lady rocks.
