Trapped: The Alex Cooper Story

This story about a girl sent to conversion therapy could have been more dramatic. The acting by the lead actress seemed laid back. She didn't act upset enough while being trapped and punished.

The lead actress was terrible, she almost looked happy and content even when she had to carry rocks all around all day. But overall the story had a lot of missing points as well, like how passive the girl was by not even trying hard enough to escape, how full of love for her parents in that situation etc. Anyone else would at least accuse her parents and be a bit smarter about the situation, I was disturbed how passive and naive she was. Both the story and the acting was just terrible, waste of time.

Highly recommended for any parent who struggles with their LGBTQ child. May it open their eyes to the inhumane treatment too often experienced by many children of indoctrinated parents. This movie captures a lot of real life scenarios children who have been abused by religious teachings deal with

I'll start off by saying that everyone needs to watch this movie and realize that this is a real thing. Society is oblivious to all of this and do not realize that people go through this every single day. Maybe I'm biased because I went through something similar but it's terrible. It's terrible when it's your own parents because who do you turn to then? Who do you turn to when your parents take away everything including your friends? This movie really puts things into perspective for people on the outside. Maybe it'll change your mind about things.

Some reviewers on this site will tell you it's a damning indictment of Alex's parents, but those people didn't watch the whole movie. If you are a religious person, of any persuasion, watch this movie. It is a compassionate and loving conversation of very tough ideas, told through the life story of one person.
