In a world where teenage vampires are the pop norm, "Devil Girl" is a welcome breath of fresh air. An aggressive soundtrack, creepy, surreal imagery and a fast paced mind f@%! of a story makes for a really unique counter culture film.
While admittedly the story is far from typical,(and frankly, oddly amorphous)it is fun feeling that at any moment, that which seems to be reality might be revealed as yet another head trip fantasy. With its fast cars, sexy girls and psychedelic drugged out visuals, this is a flick for fans of movies like "Natural Born Killers" and "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas." Some folks just aren't going to get it, but for others, it is cult dynamite.

Pretty much out the starting gate, it was clear - to me at least - that this was going to be an unpredictable ride to a climax where surely nothing was what it seemed. So far, so predictable for a manic trip on the cult status skyrocket. It was dark, twisted, and allegorical in a manner that teased those willing to try and figure it out. Stylistically, it was slightly derivative for this type of flick, but I think it was the right approach. And the clown character gave it a unique centre of gravity that set it apart. In a sub-genre that is overpopulated with slick, action-packed no-brain failures, this was a refreshing, wheel-screech of delight for those working within a limited budget. Well done.

DEVIL GIRL is the story of Fay (Jessica Graham), her '69 Chevelle, and the eeevil, psychopathic clown (Joe Wanjai Ross) who haunts her. Fay is also haunted by the memory of her dead father.
When she breaks down near a small Texas town, Fay tries to get a job as a bartender -the clown stole her money- but can only find work as a stripper. Her adventure includes run-ins with a sleazy preacher, a scumbag motel manager, and the DEVIL GIRL (Vanessa Kay) herself! She's red, she's hot, and she's equipped with horns and a tail. She also drives a wicked T-Bird!
The story line is mostly non-linear, with a definite hallucinatory / dreamlike / psychedelic atmosphere. The clown is hilarious, and has the best lines in the movie. If you enjoy fast cars, drug-crazed killer clowns, or bodacious Devil Girls, then you've just found low-budget paradise!...
