    Closing an era in comedy

Blue Collar Comedy Tour: One for the Road is a solid closure and a great fix to the bland and dry addition of Rides Again. The performs tackle funnier topics and the end scene where all of them are on stage are the strongest in the trilogy. This is the best of all of the films.

It's hard to say what went wrong in the second part. I didn't hate it. But something wasn't on par with the original. When critiquing a comedy special, it's strictly what topics you yourself funny. What you find funny isn't what others do making it hard to efficiently review a special. One for the Road shows the guys at their funniest and that is what it's all about.

We start out with Bill Engvall, surprisingly, since he is usually saved for second to last or last in the performances. He is the funniest of everyone talking about impressing fifth grade girls and a stressful trip to the massage parlor. Ron White starts talking about Texas Hold 'Em and the state of awareness scale, and this time, he is actually pretty funny.

Usually I grin when Ron White is on stage, but I actually found him very funny during this special. More points. Jeff and Larry close the show with Jeff and Bill being the major highlights of the film. Then, at the very end, as a Blue Collar tradition, they all come out on stage and do something with a theme. This time; telling their favorite jokes and looking at photos they are "not proud of." Just wonderful humor.

This is the final special from Engvall, White, Foxworthy, and The Cable Guy. There is another one called Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The Next Generation. But from what I hear it's just four other Blue Collar impersonators doing their own shtick using the four guys' humor. I think I'll stop here. One for the Road stands out in the trilogy for discussing the funniest topics and having memorable lines dropped one after another.

Just to let you know, if you ask if this is a review of Blue Collar Comedy Tour: One for the Road, I'll say "Nope, it's a review of the DVD cover." Heeeeeeere's your sign! Starring: Jeff Foxworthy, Larry the Cable Guy, Bill Engvall, and Ron White. Directed by: C.B. Harding.

    You People are NUTS

Except for Larry the Cable Guy (whom I have never liked), I thought this installment easily was up to the level of the rest of them, and that end bit with the photos was the funniest end bit of all of the shows. The jokes they're telling at the beginning of the closing are old, but they seem funnier when being told by these guys.

I don't get how these are "running out of jokes." There was a TON of new material in there, especially in Foxworthy's session. Yeah, a lot of this material is reflective on where they've been... but it's billed as "One for the Road," COME ON, PEOPLE, THAT'S WHAT IT'S FOR.

As far as Foxworthy's fat jokes... I am very much overweight, and I found them HILARIOUS.

    Absolutely terrible

This iteration is essentially unwatchable. It appears to have been filmed using the cheapest video camera available on wish. The sound quality is so bab that it's hard to hear the performance over the audience. At no point in the one hour and forty five minutes is the sound better than a couple kids with two time cans and a string. The audience, however, comes through loud and clear.

TBH, if I were one of the performers, I'd have been livid at how bad the audio was. I have no clue why the videographer didn't pull the audio from the mic they were holding and, instead, opted from using the 'el cheapo' setup he got from wish, but here we are.

I love all 4 of these comedians, but I'd recommend finding something else to watch. This was included with Prime, and we were pissed about the cost.

Starts To Get A Little Old

There are two ways to look at this installment of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour:

    1. If this is the first time you have become acquainted with the gang, this will likely be a 5-star experience. The bits are still funny, and the "old pictures" segment to close out the show is almost worth the price alone.

    2. However, if you have already viewed parts one and two in the series, then (for likely the first time) the material will begin to really feel stale. "Rides Again" began the over-exposure, while this one only continues the process. Without that great last segment, the entire show would have really felt musty.

In terms of evaluating each individual comedian:

Bill Engvall: A bright spot; really engaging stories that may be his best performance of the three.

Ron White: A step back from "Rides Again"; loses some of that biting wit/sarcasm that is his hallmark.

Jeff Foxworthy: Spends WAY too much time on one rather uninteresting subject, and routine suffers as a result.

Larry the Cable Guy: Same old, same old here as even big-draw Larry starts to get a bit derivative and sinks into out-and-out crudity a bit too much.

Thus, your opinion of this third (and last) entry into the Blue Collar film series will likely be determined by your previous forays into the series. By and large, the jokes are still funny, but their freshness is what is seriously called into question.

    The Best for Last!

I was kind of skeptical about seeing this movie after not being entirely satisfied with "Rides Again," But this one was just as great as the first! Each of the guys' comedy was right on and had me laughing endlessly. Just like Ron said in the movie, I laughed until I thought I was going to throw up! All of them were on key and the material was very fun and interesting, though Larry pushed it with his joke about catching a Cuban while fishing in Florida, but otherwise, it was very great! The special features on the DVD are also very funny, including their short on pulling a prank on President Bush(played by an actor). This one might even be better than the first one in that each of the guys had relatively equal stage time, unlike in the first one where Larry and Ron's bits were too short and Jeff's was slightly too long. In this one, all four routines were well spaced and perfectly long enough to be fully satisfied, plus the material seemed very fresh and new. The finale was also absolutely hilarious in seeing old photos of the guys from years before. Some of them were obviously doctored by a computer, but the guys' reactions to them were great. This was an awesome movie, the Blue Collar boys hitting a home run in their last at-bat. Overall, a must buy!

Ron White: Theres this cruise ship and theres a magician that works on the ship and the captain had a parrot that liked to go to the show everynight. The parrot understood the show and since it could talk it would give away everything. And the magician just hated this bird. and one night he just snapped and he pulled out a pistol and he shot the bird and the bird ducked and the bullet misses the bird and it hits a propane tane and blows the ship to a billion peices. the only survivors are the parrot and the magician and their floating out in the middle of the ocean on two little peices of wood and the parrot goes "Alright i give up.
