What I saw here was a bit of cinematic satire on the who done themes. The movie was NOT written or directed to be taken so seriously. It was a fun watch for me and it wasn't until about a third of the way through, I lightened up and saw this film through the glass of the directors.
Its met to get fun, not taken seriously as Jack the Ripper. So, I will give this DVD another watch and at least a six. Just sit back, put your feet up and watch it. From the very beginning you can see, this film is tongue in cheek.
This could be seen as a little dig upon the the phony message, once wed always stay true or the buggy man will come for you.

Strange film, some tidy actors, some people who think they can act and an editor who must have gone on vacation during the making of the film . The sound engineer must have recorded the sound in an aircraft hanger either that or the police interview room was set in an Amazon warehouse.
Roy Sheider, Tia Carrere, Daryl Hannha, Erik Roberts (may well have lost his Role in Batman had this been on his showreel)... some good names from a few years back...how bad can it be you ask yourself. somehow the director has even made these actors appear like this is their first time in front of a camera, pinnocio was less wooden I must admit I couldn't watch the whole film, in fact 20 minutes was enough for me despite all the flaws others have mentioned, the writer must be held accountable for this misguided story, one of a million all seen before, I assure you now, any good reviews on this movie must be from the directors mother.
These were over 80 minutes of semi unexpected boredom. First, I was wondering how it is possible to produce something like that. Then, reaching 70th minute I was convincing myself that it's only a few more minutes, and I lasted to the very end which I'm kinda proud of as I consider watching this movie as a great test for human's patience and crap tolerance. Was it worth watching at all? Well, as I wrote above, if you want to test yourself, give it a try and if you're strong willed enough, you may even last to the end... The movie lacks coherence and characters seem to have no common sense at all. All happenings in the movie, you can be sure you saw somewhere before, and they seem to be put in this movie just to fill the film reel.
If you like intentionally bad movies, this might be your cup of tea.
I have a bit of a weakness for inspired camp, especially movies that can walk that fine line between plausible and over the top -- It's a difficult tension to manage, but 'Dark Honeymoon' manages it.
Lindy Booth is the real star of this one. Since her debut on the unfortunately short-lived sow,'Oyssey 5', she's made a specialty of playing crazy girlfriends -- sweet on the outside, but a bunch of broken marbles, once you get her home. 'O5','Wrong Turn', 'Cry_Wolf' and here, she plays the batsh#tinsane girlfriend and does a marvelous job with it.
What is impressive here is the support that writer-director David O'Malley got here -- Eric Roberts, Darryl Hannah, Tia Carrere and Roy Scheider -- strong almost A-list players, all -- each playing supporting roles in what would otherwise be a cheesy teen-age slasher flick. But the demographic of this flick is just a bit twisted, as the protagonists here, Kathryn and Paul are int their mid- to late-20's, already just a bit out of scope for the usual mall crowd.
The other oddity here is the emphasis, if not effort that was put into the music -- though the film has a cheap, raw look to it (think DePalma's 'Sisters') it has a world-class soundtrack that rivals anything executed by Bernard Hermann. The music definitely kicks this movie up 3 notches above whatever dreck it would have been without the efforts of Juan Colomer and his big string section.
If you like Lindy and you're a fan of early, Hitchcock-inspired DePalma, this is one that you probably want to investigate, if only for a fun ride.
