Four tapes were stolen in August 2006 in Budapest, where the 13-part series was being edited, and the thieves were demanding £1 million ($1.9 million, 1.5 million euros) for their safe return. The production offered a £40,000 reward for the return of the tapes. The Hungarian police found the tapes the next month.
The opening eye from the beginning credits is Jonas Armstrong, but the colour was later digitally changed from brown to green.
Keith Allen lost one of his teeth while filming a fight sequence for the show. This was written into the script, with the Sheriff losing a tooth in the last episode of Series 1. He takes teeth from skulls and places them in the gap in his teeth as a recurring gag in the second series.
Some fans were so upset by Much's treatment throughout the series that they started a "Treat Much Right" campaign.
David Harewood dedicated a paragraph in his autobiography to his time in the series: "I got a call from the BBC about joining the cast of their new series of Robin Hood as Friar Tuck. I ended up creating a sort of Ninja monk version of the friar, and they seemed to like it. A Black Friar Tuck actually made the evening news and was considered fairly controversial. Finally, a television part with a little imagination had come my way. But after a cracking intro, the experience didn't quite turn out how I'd hoped".
