Matt Berry has been a staple of British comedy for two decades, thanks to his memorable roles in shows like “The It Crowd,” “Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace,” “Snuff Box” and “Toast of London.”
And although he has been a part of other American productions before, it’s his role as Laszlo Cravensworth in the FX comedy “What We Do in the Shadows” that has brought him acclaim across the pond, including his first Emmy nomination for actor in a comedy series.
Berry is more than just an actor, though. He is also an incredibly accomplished musician, with nearly a dozen albums under his belt. So perhaps it is only fitting he learned about his Emmy nomination while he was in the studio working on his latest.
“I was playing drums, and I could see that something was going on with the phone because it was leaping around the table,” Berry says.

Noel Fielding’s comedy series The Completely Made Up Adventures of Dick Turpin has been renewed for a second series at Apple TV+, here are the details.
Noel Fielding, along with comedy partner Julian Barratt, blasted onto the UK comedy scene with double act The Mighty Boosh, which found success at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 1998. After that, it went to TV, with three series of what might be the most surreal, esoteric comedy ever broadcast on British television. All episodes were directed by Paul King, who went on to achieve national treasure status alongside Simon Farnaby for co-writing and directing the Paddington films and the recently released Wonka.
Fielding has had a steady career in British sitcoms ever since, appearing in the likes of Snuff Box, The It Crowd and headlining his own series Noel Fielding’s Luxury Comedy, last year he created and lead the cast of Apple...

Aubrey Plaza (alongside Emile Hirsch, Craig Robinson, Jemaine Clement, and Snuff Box’s Matt Berry) has signed on for a new film from Jim Hosking, the director whose gross-out debut The Greasy Strangler provoked a mixture of laughs and gags from critics last year. Hosking’s new feature, An Evening With Beverly Luff Linn, sounds just as strange, if slightly less obsessed with shoving disgusting sausages down audiences’ throats.
Plaza stars as Lulu Danger—no relation, presumably, to the illusive Janet Snakehole—whose boring marriage takes a “fortunate turn for the worse” when she’s invited to the titular show. Frankly, we have no idea what happens after that, but Hosking was apparently able to sell people on the film’s promise, given the number of big name comedy stars he’s drawn in for his second film.

Matt Berry chats to us about his voice work in the new Spongebob Squarepants movie, House Of Fools, music, and Toast Of London...
We like comedian and musician Matt Berry, and it's a good time to be a fan of him and his buttery-smooth baritone. He's currently strutting his stuff in the surreal Vic & Bob's House Of Fools, and his Rose D'Or winning comedy Toast Of London returns for a third series later this year.
Now he's in The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out Of Water, voicing a magic space dolphin called Bubbles. Now there's a sentence you rarely find yourself typing. So naturally we had to talk to him to find out all about it...
I've followed your work ever since Snuff Box, and The SpongeBob Movie might be the craziest role you've played, would you agree?

What have Matthew Holness, Richard Ayoade, Alice Lowe and Matt Berry been up to in the decade since Garth Marenghi's Darkplace?
It’s been ten years now since author, visionary, and dreamweaver Garth Marenghi’s legendary horror TV show, Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace, was rescued from a vault in Peru and broadcast to a largely unappreciative audience.
Or, you know, in the reality we actually inhabit, it’s been ten years since a group of comedians donned 80s costumes and pretended to be aging filmmakers commenting on their own ‘lost’ series. Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace was a perfect send-up of both trashy low-budget horror and science fiction productions and pompous creators, as a bewigged Matthew Holness straight-facedly explained the unique genius of his horror writing alter ego even as his greatest creation, Dr Rick Dagless M.D., mugged away in the background.
It was a ludicrously high concept show,...

Matt Berry will be familiar to comedy fans thanks to his role as Douglas Reynholm in The It Crowd, but its cult gems like Garth Marenghi's Darkplace and Snuff Box that really got the most out of him. He found his best role yet this year in Toast of London, a sitcom focused around his London luvvie Steven Toast. The first episode of Snuff Box begins with a hanging, and this isn’t just a one-off event in the series. Matt Berry and Rich Fulcher star as a hangman and a hangman’s assistant, respectively, and much of the show centers around their profession and the gentlemen’s club where they go to while away time after work. Snuff Box may not be the darkest sketch comedy show ever made, but it’s certainly up there, and much of the show’s charm comes from its relaxed attitude towards death, sex, swearing and other taboos. Not only does the show take them lightly, it...

Terri (20th Century Fox) An awkward, obese teen (Jacob Wysocki) finds himself forming an odd friendship with his equally left-of-center vice-principal (John C. Reilly), who decides to help the boy navigate his way through adolescence’s rocky road. Low key film is filled with pathos and humor, but is ultimately too laid back for its own good (not to mention too long). Worth seeing for young Wysocki’s amazing, completely natural performance, and Reilly’s goofy charm. Also available on Blu-ray disc. Bonuses: Featurette; Deleted scenes. Widescreen. Dolby and DTS-hd 5.1 surround.
Mr. Nice (Mpi) Rhys Ifans stars in the true story of Howard Marks, a Welsh-born Oxford grad who gained the most notoriety in his life for being the UK’s biggest hashish smuggler during the ‘70s and ‘80s, when he wasn’t busy spying for Her Majesty’s government, hanging out with a...

The Curb Your Enthusiasm star says British comedy was his touchstone. Now he's about to try out his mix of personal pathos and vulgarity on audiences here. He just hopes they get him
'If you react poorly to something, we will discuss it." With the roguish affability native to his unscrupulous Curb Your Enthusiasm character – Jeff Greene, manager and accomplice to Larry David – Jeff Garlin addresses the crowd at the Upright Citizens Brigade, Hollywood's improvisation hotspot. It's one of a flurry of appearances to fine tune the act for his run of shows at London's Soho Theatre, and he relishes the ridiculousness of inviting the audience to trash it as he performs. No one takes him up on the offer – they are all enjoying themselves too much.
Garlin is noticeably slimmer than his blobular Curb physique, the result of a "get lean and go green" campaign detailed in his 2010 memoir...

Oh I loves me some Matt Berry and now I got some for free. How sweet is that?
Fans of British TV comedy are most likely well aware of comedian extraordinaire Matt Berry from such brilliant shows as Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace, The Mighty Boosh, The Snuff Box and The It Crowd. Well I didn’t know that the man was in to music so much, allot apparently, and these days he’s giving away his latest album Witchazel for free online. He actually started giving it away at least a week ago so I don’t know for how much longer it will be available to the public so you better get there post haste and grab a copy.
I have to say that this isn’t what I expected, I was expecting a comedy album but not proper music, really good proper music actually. Stellar stuff.
Give it a go yall.
