The martial arts warrior and demigod Taven is revived from suspended animation and learns from the dragon Orin that his mother the sorceress Delia has predicted a time which good and evil warriors will fight each other to the death in a decisive final battle which will bring about Armageddon. Upon learning of this, Taven's father Argus, one of the Elder Gods constructed a special pyramid to prevent Armageddon from happening and also to be used as the battleground. But there is more. Orin also reveals Taven and his brother Daegon were both put into suspended animation by Argus and Delia and when the time came from them to be revived, they were to embark on a quest which whomever completes this quest, will decide the fate of the universe and will succeed Argus as Protector of Edenia. Orin opens a portal and transports Taven to Earthrealm and Taven sets off on his quest. As Taven encounters and fights various other warriors and reaches the Black Dragon temple only to be captured by Sektor, leader of a clan of robot warriors called the Tekunin which he escapes from their warship. Taven learns about the quest and learns he has to travel to the pyramid and slay Blaze, a fire creature created by Argus, which once he destroys him, he will become Protector of Edenia and he will put a stop to Armageddon. But, Taven soon learns Daegon has betrayed him and was revived prematurely by the dragon Caro and is in league with the evil Elder God Shinnok and murdered their parents and Taven engages Daegon in a deadly final confrontation and Taven sets off to fight and destroy Blaze and complete the quest.
