Steven Spielberg’s classic thriller Jaws is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a special 4K Ultra HD release, due out on June 17th. Pre-orders are ongoing.

While Jaws has already been released on 4K, the 50th anniversary edition offers the never-before-seen documentary Jaws @ 50: The Definitive Inside Story. Coming from National Geographic and directed by Laurent Bouzereau, the authorized look includes interviews with shark scientists and some of “Hollywood’s most influential directors,” according to a press release.

In addition to deleted scenes and outtakes, bonus features include a full-length making-of documentary, a featurette on the film’s restoration, and The Shark Is Still Working: The Impact and Legacy of Jaws, a fan-made documentary exploring the film’s pop culture impact and legacy.

The Jaws 50th anniversary edition will also be available in a special Steelbook package.

Universal is marking the 50th anniversary of Steven Spielberg’s iconic thriller, Jaws, with a special edition SteelBook, 4K Uhd, Blu-ray, and Digital release on June 17, 2025. The brand-new release will give fans access to over five hours of exclusive bonus content that celebrates the legacy of the film. This limited-edition set includes the authorized documentary, Jaws @ 50: The Definitive Inside Story, directed by Laurent Bouzereau. The special feature will trace the film’s influence on pop culture and shark conservation through interviews with some of Hollywood’s most influential directors and shark scientists.

Now streaming on Screambox is the fan-made documentary focusing on the 80’s cult classic, Clue: The Movie.

In the spirit of The Shark Is Still Working (Jaws) and Back In Time (Back to the Future), Who Done It: The Clue Documentary is lensed by filmmaker fans who want to know the entire story of the production.

The doc features interviews with writer/director Jonathan Lynn and cast members Colleen Camp (Yvette), Michael McKean (Mr. Green), Lesley Ann Warren (Miss Scarlet), and Lee Ving (Mr. Boddy), among others.

“Clue is one of the most enjoyable, quotable and rewatchable films of the past 35 years,” director Jeff C. Smith originally stated when the project was announced. “When I couldn’t find the answers to questions I have always wondered (like who came up with Madeline Kahn’s amazing ‘Flames on the side of my face’ speech), I decided to go find out for myself.

To celebrate Universal's recent 4K Ultra HD release of Jaws and the film's upcoming 45th anniversary, Kevin Smith will be hosting a Jaws virtual watch party on Twitter this weekend.

The Jaws watch party will kick off on Saturday, June 13th at 1:00pm Pst/ 9:00pm BST, and to participate, all you have to do is keep an eye on Kevin Smith's Twitter account and use the hashtag #JawsAtHome in your tweets while watching the film.

Jaws is often cited as a turning point for mainstream American cinema – its record-breaking success at the box office marking it as, essentially, the first Summer blockbuster. While Jaws still seems fresh, in many ways it couldn't be more different from our current multiplex fodder. Is there any character as memorable as Quint in this summer's haul of movies? All good things come to those who wait. That being said the reason why Blu-ray was invented is finally here. Steven Spielberg's Jaws, arguably the first and the greatest summer movie ever made, in addition to being one of the best American films of all-time, has been given a complete digital 4K restoration derived from the original camera negative. The results are magnificent. A far cry from the McA DiscoVision laser disc, the Capacitance Electronic Disc (Ced) by RCA, the VHS tape, the 20th anniversary letterboxed laser disc, or even the past two previous DVD incarnations (which were admittedly pretty decent), the new Blu-ray most closely approximates what it was like to see Jaws for the first time in movie theaters in the summer of 1975. Best of all, the Blu-ray cover retains artist Roger Kastel’s iconic poster art.

Arguably Steven Spielberg’s most influential film, Jaws will be the first of 13 classic Universal films to be released in their “Fall Classic Series”—an ongoing celebration of their 100th Anniversary—in 150 Cinemark theatres across the country on Thursday, August 23, 2012, at two separate show times, 2pm and 7pm.

Jaws—along with the 12 other classic films—will be digitally remastered and fully restored from 35mm original film elements, supervised by Steven Spielberg himself.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back into the water, Jaws has arrived on Blu-ray for the first time. This is one of those releases that had me excited from when it was first announced. Jaws is such a classic film for so many reasons. It is the first "event" summer blockbuster movies, and is the film that solidified Steven Spielberg as the amazing director that he is. The film has a great eclectic cast, which includes Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss, Lorraine Gary, Murray Hamilton, and Carl Gottlieb. 

The story follows new police chief Martin Brody (Scheider) during what is supposed to be a relaxing summer on Amity's beach with plenty of sand and sun. Just when you thought it was safe to turn off your Blu-Ray player, Universal Studios Home Entertainment has released an all-new digitally remastered and fully restored version, complete with 7.1 surround sound, of its classic Jaws in a Blu-Ray-DVD Combo Pack along with Digital Copy and UltraViolet.

Jaws, released in 1975, nominated for Best Picture and winner of three Oscars (Best Film Editing, Best Original Score, and Best Sound), is one of the most successful and influential films in the history of the medium, and Universal has chosen to restore it as part of their 100th Anniversary celebration.

They deliver. This is hands-down, one of the must-own Blu-Rays of the year and a standard for how to present a catalog title on home video both in terms of presentation and also bonus features.

Chicago – I’ve long argued that the main reason that Blu-ray sales didn’t instantly take off like purists argued that they should have was because too many people’s favorite movies weren’t even available on the format. Universal has gone a long way to fixing that problem in 2012 through their 100th Anniversary line of Blu-ray releases and today sees the company unveiling for the public what is unquestionably the Blu-ray of the year. “Jaws” is back, digitally restored in a way that’s truly difficult to put into words. You need to see it. You need to own it. Or your Blu-ray player isn’t doing its job.

Dread Central recently had the opportunity to speak with the man behind the stunning restoration of Steven Spielberg's classic blockbuster Jaws - Mike Daruty, Senior Vice President of Universal's Technical Operations.

During our interview with Daruty, he discussed the restoration process he used on Jaws, which has the film looking even better than it did in theaters almost 40 years ago, and chatted with us about some of the other Universal restorations he's behind, including many of the studio's classic monster movies.

In honor of Uniersal's 100th anniversary, many of their classics are getting Blu-ray treatment, but none of their releases compares to the HD version of the mother of all blockbusters, "Jaws."

The new release of Steven Spielberg's first mega-hit packs a full restoration, in addition to four hours of bonus features and an all new feature-length documentary "The Shark Is Still Working."

To celebrate the release, we have an exclusive clip from that documentary. In it, the cast recalls improvising scenes on set while they waited for the shark to be ready.

One memorable scene in particular came straight out of those ad-libbing sessions. As Roy Scheider recalls in the clip, he had been sitting between takes with his young co-star Jay Mello, who played Brody's son Sean, when the boy started mimicking him. Scheider found the game so charming that he convinced Spielberg to include it.

Back in 1974 when production was first gearing up for Universal Studios' Jaws, Joe Alves knew that while the challenges they were facing to bring Peter Benchley's novel to the big screen were going to be huge, the rewards would be worth it.

That is, if they could survive their almost 160 day shooting schedule.

But of course Alves was right; Jaws went on to become the movie that launched the summer blockbuster and despite the passing of almost 40 years since its initial release, the Steven Spielberg-classic still remains one of the best and most critically-acclaimed movies ever made that has become the measuring stick for countless filmmakers out there who have stated it’s the one film that made them realize anything was possible once you step behind the camera.

Steven Spielberg's Jaws, the movie that pretty much single-handedly invented the summer blockbuster, is finally coming to Blu-ray next week as part of Universal's centennial celebration. J. Michael Roddy was only six years old in the summer of 1975, but like the rest of the country, he developed shark fever after seeing Steven Spielberg’s Jaws. “There are two things that are really cool to a six year old boy, and that’s dinosaurs and sharks,” says Roddy. “I begged my parents to let me see Jaws, and it was the first time I remember being completely lost in a film. It changed my life.”

Roddy isn’t alone. Jaws changed a lot of people’s lives, beginning with the then 28-year-old Spielberg himself. But in The Shark is Still Working,...

Pretty much any movie fans worth their salt would call themselves a fan of Spielberg's 1975 summer blockbuster Jaws. However, filmmaker J. Michael Roddy has all of us beat in the fan department.

Roddy embarked on making an extensive documentary in honor of Jaws back in 2005, and now with Universal Studios' upcoming release of the restored film on Blu-ray next week, fans everywhere will finally have the opportunities to enjoy the fruits of Roddy's labor over the last seven years via his extensive look back at the film that forever changed the cinematic landscape in 1975.

During the recent press day held at Jaws Lake on the Universal Studios backlot, Dread Central had the opportunity to chat with Roddy about all things Jaws- its legacy, why it has endured and what kept him going to get The Shark Is Still Working finished up over the last few years.

If there's one man who knows the most about Jaws and its enduring legacy, even more so than director Steven Spielberg, it has to be Carl Gottlieb.

Not only did the writer/actor co-write the screenplay with Jaws novelist Peter Benchley, Gottlieb also starred in the film as local reporter Meadows and wrote the official book on what went into making the flick, The Jaws Log, which has been called one of the best 'making-of' books ever released by Hollywood heavyweights and fans alike since it was first published back in 1975.
