Director Burlingame originally commissioned a soundtrack by composer Erik Lindgren of the group Birdsongs of the Music, which he rejected as being less ambient than what he had in mind; it was replaced by one improvised by the group. Burlingame revisited his decision for a 2014 screening at a Lindgren retrospective concert, noting that he had been "out of his mind not to use ... this awesomeness" and proclaiming the original and now restored version "as the official soundtrack from here on."
