31 Ghost Stories Kickstarter: Press Release: "31 Ghost Stories is a new anthology for those who loved Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and Goosebumps. Each story by Jeff Provine is illustrated with the haunting shadowy of Ellis Goodson, concept artist for games like Jurassic Park. The book launches on October 10 through Kickstarter, and every copy purchased will be matched with a copy donated to a library.

“Stories are meant to be shared,” Provine said.

Through one hundred pages, 31 Ghost Stories explores new twists through the old tropes of haunted tales.

Sunray Films MD and former Focus Features International co-president to give address.

Alison Thompson, managing director of Sunray Films, is to deliver this year’s keynote address at the Film London Production Finance Market (Pfm) (Oct 15-16).

Opening the eighth Pfm in London on 15 October, Thompson will provide the 200 plus delegates and industry guests an insight into successfully financing, packaging, selling and positioning a diverse range of independent feature films across low and high budget ranges.

Thompson will also share her experience of spotting and nurturing talent and her move from indie sales companies to working for a studio-owned company.

As a sales agent, Thompson has represented films such as The Crying Game, The Motorcycle Diaries and Blue Jasmine. Recently formed sales-production company Sunray Films launched its first feature film production, Alone In Berlin starring Emma Thompson and Daniel Brühl, at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and is also representing Mike Leigh’s Mr Turner.

Some time ago, I asked Blake McCarty if he wanted to collaborate on a short film inspired by my “granddaughter” Viv. Viv was adopted at infancy by our friends Michael and Calvin, and because there were no grandparents in her life, she in turn adopted me and my partner as “The Gramps”.

Together, Blake and I co-wrote the screenplay, and asked Michael Biello and Dan Martin if we could use their song “Come Closer” from the musical “The Cousins Grimm” as part of the story. The result is a seven-minute musical short mixing live action and stop motion animation. The story focuses on a 7-year-old girl (coincidentally named Viv) who invents a fairy tale about how her Dads met as a way to entertain her new friend, Henry.

By the end of Viv’s imaginative tale – replete with Busby Berkeley...
