The Mind's Eye

Gets a 1 from me, I saw this movie at a recent film festival and thought it was horrible, I was actually shocked to see that other people had actually visited this movie on IMDb and actually reviewed it, and I was further shocked to find some positive reviews as well that this movie actually had a spot on the IMDb.

The acting was stiff and reminded me of the kind of acting you see in high school or maybe community college plays, The story was poorly put together, and hard to understand. The conclusion is boring and without a real climax, which was strange since the movie had no climax previous to the ending either.

Nobody will probably ever get the chance to see this movie, but if by chance you ever did, your going to want to skip it.

You want an insane murderer? You want a psycho drugged-up party girl? You want an over stressed workaholic? You want attempted homicide? You want the ability to record your dreams? It's all there, under the supervision of director Rick Owens. Rick is a great man with not only a grand vision, but the brains and drive to see them come to reality. I've seen the Mind's Eye around 10 times now and have enjoyed it every time. Dale (Heath) is my favorite character, he's a bad dude. Midland is a great city for a film to be shot in as well, I love the scene at the Chinese pagoda. The story grabs you by the throat and doesn't let go until you're gasping for air. The score was absolutely perfect, the effects were great, and the sound was superb if I do say so myself. If there's one movie you need to see before you die, it's The Mind's Eye.

I have had the pleasure of seeing The Mind's Eye before it's official release. Rick Owens dazzles viewers with a riveting story that keeps them guessing until the very end. His main characters are very well developed and the acting is great! This film is about a young woman who invents a computer program that will record her dreams. She records her dreams in order to find out what happened to her mother who died when she was young. Throughout the film, the viewer is on the edge of their seat hoping to find out what the young woman is looking for: The answer to the mystery behind her mother's death. This thriller is for anyone who likes a psychological game.

This is a great film. At over an hour and a half the story keeps the viewer involved and entertained, including plot twists, characters you can relate to, and a relentless pace.

The acting is well above average for a low budget indie film, and dramatic lighting accents the eerie mood.

The effects added on top of that make this amazing. This is the first film this guy has ever made, and a feature at that.

I dare anyone who has anything negative to say about this movie provide something better.

Good job, and I look forward to the next movie you make.

When I watched this film, I considered all the director must've gone through just to get it in the can. Then I thought about how difficult it must've been to edit. That's when I came to this realization-I've seen movies cranked out by the "best" Hollywood has to offer that couldn't even hold a candle to this film. That's a fact. And that fact alone reminds me that we are now living in a world where talent is no longer exclusive to southern California.

Is it a great movie? By no means. However, it certainly proves what can be accomplished when one has a dream. It has a great beginning, and clever ending, but the middle is hit and miss. The performances of the actors vary from exceptional to dreadful, but on a shoestring budget this is to be expected.

I think it can be best described as a "student film." It was learning process for a director that shows promise and will probably open the door for one or two of the performers. I'm not sure what will become of this film, but I do look forward to seeing what the director has up his sleeve in the future as he continues to grow.
