Netflix and the WWE are about to make one helluva tag team.
In 2025, WWE’s weekly flagship program “Monday Night Raw” is leaving its longtime USA Network home for the greener pastures of Netflix — yes, we are referring there to the color of money.
Hey, the same move worked out for “Suits.”
“Monday Night Raw,” USA Network’s most-watched show, is heading to Netflix in a 10-year deal that will pay WWE parent company Tko more than $5 billion; top-rope stuff from today’s company filings. Netflix carries options to either extend the deal for another 10 years, or to opt out after the first five.
Curiously, in the Tuesday news announcement, Tko and Netflix both referred to the program simply as “Raw.” A person with knowledge of the plans told IndieWire that the show’s night of the week is subject to change in the move. It is possible Netflix would...

Wrestlers appearing on late night TV used to be more of a regular occurrence. Back in the late 80s and throughout the 80s, Hulk Hogan was a staple on hosts’ guest lists. He would come on the show, spew his catchphrases, and mug for the camera, all while staying in character.
For many old school wrestlers, professional wrestling was an all-consuming, lifestyle choice. But fast forward to today, and kayfabe is pretty much dead and buried. That’s meant that these funny/awkward moments (of wrestlers interacting with and scaring people) are becoming increasingly rare.
Usually, wrestlers’ late night appearances occur directly before a major PPV, like Wrestlemania or SummerSlam. The WWE already knows that the die-hards fans will tune in, but for the event to be a success, the casual fans have to tune in as well. And late night television — from Carson to Conan, from SNL to...

It’s been a pretty quiet week for the WWE Universe, which is a good thing after the sudden death of Roddy Piper last week and the Hulk Hogan situation that rocked the wrestling world a few weeks ago. With SummerSlam and the Nxt Takeover Brooklyn special coming up on August 22-23, WWE has to focus on those events and hopefully create some moments that fans will be talking about for a long time.
Recently, there was a decision made by WWE to make SummerSlam a four hour event because they likely want to have eight or nine matches on the show and to give them significant time in the ring. There’s definitely a concern that maybe WWE is overdoing it by adding an hour because there’s already so much content in WWE. However, as fans of the product that have WWE Network, it shouldn’t...

SummerSlam is one of the most famous WWE events there is. Yet there’s so much about this August extravaganza you perhaps don’t know! As we approach the 2014 instalment of the event, we reflect on little known facts about WWE’s ‘Biggest Party Of The Summer.’
But firstly, some background information on SummerSlam that you perhaps did know about. The show debuted way back on August 29th 1988 at Madison Square Garden. Airing on pay per view, the event was headlined by Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage defeating Andre The Giant and Ted Dibiase. The 20,000 New Yorkers in attendance lapped it up, beginning a summer tradition of enduring quality. As we approach the 27th SummerSlam, we have to say that it has arguably been WWE’s greatest event ever. Think back over SummerSlam history, then compare it to WrestleMania history. You’d have to say that the August...

If at first you don’t succeed, then try, try again…..and again….and again. This seemed to be the motto amongst WWE & WCW in regards to the Ultimate Warrior back in the 1990s. As we all know, the man was on absolute fire in the late 80′s, reaching a summit that virtually no one else had, defeating Hulk Hogan clean during his hey-day. At WrestleMania no less.
However, the torch that was passed that night was more like a matchstick, as The Warrior disappeared following a money dispute over the 1991 SummerSlam main event. Months later he would return during WrestleMania VIII in order to help out the Hulkster, and then feud with Papa Shango. Of course, we all know the truth, as the real Warrior had died and this was a look-a-like. But I digress. He was soon gone again, and wouldn’t be seen for another...
