Preguntas Frecuentes

Yes, Keeping Mum is out on DVD and in American Format. Thinkfilm is the supplier and the number is tf-54975. There is also a website: Keepingmumthemovie.com

It's on the Isle of Man--an island off the coast of England, level with Liverpoool. Stunning view from there! According to the director's commentary on the DVD the film was mainly shot in Cornwall (the village, the vicarage, the church) and the Isle of Man (all other locations). The 1960s sequence at the beginning was shot on the North Yorkshire Moors and in Kingston upon Thames near London. If you're interested in visiting the cafe', you can find it at the Sound of Man. It is a cafe/slash museum.

It was the ridiculous thong that Lance (the pervy American) was wearing. It was so stupid, that is what she found nasty and revolting.

In the out-takes on the DVD special features, the actress (Kristen Scott Thomas) was laughing so hard it took several takes to get the scene right. Urgh, she was right; so tasteless and ludicrous!

Hahahaha, Patrick Swayze, didn't you look a right prat????

Don't watch the trailer before seeing this film. The trailer gives too much away and gives away the punchline to some of the jokes.

"We have an unusual sense of humour, that I grant you; but I can assure you we don't all become serial killers!!"

"As you can guess, we don't all live in small towns like in the film....but the sense of humour is spot on and I thought the film was brilliantly funny and dark. Very original and unique."

"I guess the politeness is typically British. Not that I'm saying other nationalities aren't polite, just that it's the British politeness of smiling and putting up with someone and going along with them, when what you really want to do is tell them to ***** off somewhere else, and leave you alone, like with Maggie Smith (Grace Hawkins). But we don't all hire people to come live with us and tidy our houses for us. In the 19th Century maybe... "

"The British humour is completely right. We do have little villages, but there aren't serial killers everywhere. lol I thought this film was excellent. So very funny. :)"

"I would say that in rural areas of England it is very alike."

"Not necessarily society, but there is something particularly British about the humour. But the politeness, the tounge-in-cheek very dry humour, that's very british. There's also something rather delicious about having sweet, precious, wonderful Dame Maggie as a serial murderer, it's very anti-type. That can be a brit thing as well -- take the most unlikely suspects and play around with it, it's quite delicious, really."

"This film is sooooo silly. it has no point or no lesson. and about the end?"

"For goodness sake lighten up a bit! it's typically British in that sometimes a British film is a bit too 'out there' for Americans to understand. So yes, it is typically British in that it doesn't feel the need to follow Hollywood's no brainer happily ever after "underdog-always-comes-through-in-the-end" nonsense!"

"I am a Christian; in fact my Mum is a Vicar in the Church of England. We both saw the film and practically cried with laughter, our sides ached so much. Mum thought it was absolutely hilarious! Lighten up. It is just a bit of fun."

"Haven't you ever heard of a black or dark comedy? That's what this is.The daughter says "The devil's in the details, Dad." and I think your putting too much detail in this movie. I'm Christian and an American. I got the twists and turns of this movie. It's not rocket science."
