Five FrightFest Facts with Jay Reid and Natasha Calis from ‘Sick Puppy’
Image
Every so often a film comes along that dares you to laugh when you should probably be horrified. Sick Puppy is one of those films. Written and directed by Jay Reid, with Natasha Calis leading the cast, this darkly comic character study flips the serial killer subgenre on its head by shifting the spotlight onto the wife who tries to make her murderous husband go straight. Her solution? Pottery instead of bloodshed. But when love and denial collide, the results are messy, disturbing and strangely tender.

Reid’s debut feature embraces the spirit of a cult midnight movie, blending true-crime unease with absurdist humour and twisted romance. At the centre of it all is Calis,...

FrightFest to Host World Premiere of ‘Sick Puppy’
Image
Canadian filmmaker Jay Reid’s debut feature Sick Puppy will have its world premiere at FrightFest London on 25 August 2025, screening in the festival’s Discovery section at the Odeon Luxe West End. Billed as a psychological shocker with pitch-black humour, the film examines love, complicity and moral collapse through the lens of an unconventional domestic pact.

Natasha Calis stars as Charlie, a woman whose serial killer husband, John, finally agrees to abandon murder at her urging. Initially elated by the promise of suburban stability, Charlie’s certainty begins to erode when their fresh start is threatened by outside forces. As her doubts grow, she takes matters into her own hands, raising the question of whether her loyalty is driven by love, self-preservation, or something far darker.

Brett Geddes (The Boys), Rachel Boyd (Days of Our Lives) and Dylan Taylor round out the cast, anchoring a story that draws inspiration from...

5 Other Cursed Objects Such as Annabelle Doll Featured in Hollywood Movies
Image
The death of paranormal investigator Dan Rivera has opened up discussions on the subject of cursed objects. Rivera, who worked with the New England Society for Psychic Research, died on July 13 during a tour in which he was showcasing the Annabelle doll. According to the Evening Sun, he was on a visit to Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, as part of the Devils on the Run tour.

The organization confirmed Rivera’s death on July 14 via a Facebook post. They wrote, “We are heartbroken and still processing this loss. Dan truly believed in sharing his experiences and educating people on the paranormal.” He worked on paranormal research and investigations for over 10 years.

He was showing the Raggedy Ann doll, named Annabelle, during the Gettysburg tour. Annabelle is widely described as a “demonically possessed” doll. According to the New England Society, the doll’s origin goes back to 1968, when a student nurse was gifted the doll.

When Post Malone’s Encounter With This Haunted Object Turned Into Real-Life Horror: “It Was Really, Really Odd Stuff”
Image
What Happened To Post Malone After His Encounter With A Dybbuk Box?(Photo Credit –Facebook)

In a twist that sounds more like the plot of a paranormal thriller than real life, Post Malone found himself in a streak of bizarre bad luck that started right after a spooky encounter with a haunted object. Known for his laid-back vibe and face tattoos, the chart-topping rapper probably didn’t expect his 2018 appearance on a ghost-hunting show to end in chaos.

But that’s exactly what happened after he came into contact (sort of) with the infamous Dybbuk Box, an allegedly cursed item tucked away inside Zak Bagans’ Haunted Museum in Las Vegas. What followed? A plane scare, a nasty car wreck, and even a break-in at a house tied to him. Coincidence? Maybe. But Malone wasn’t so sure.

How Did Post Malone Come In Contact With The Dybbuk Box?

Let’s rewind to 2018, when Post Malone,...

Ryan Reynolds in Terror en Amityville (2005)
The Exploitation Vibes of ‘Amityville II: The Possession’ [Murder Made Fiction Podcast]
Ryan Reynolds in Terror en Amityville (2005)
After a month of Australian true crime titles, Jenn and I are spending April exploring supernatural true crime with a variety of Amityville texts. See also: The Amityville IP

We kicked things off last week with the original 1979 film, The Amityville Horror (listen). Now we’re turning our attention to the more DeFeo-centric text, Amityville II: The Possession (1982). Directed by Damiano Damiani from a script by Tommy Lee Wallace, the sequel acts as a prequel that purports to tell the original murders that were briefly explored in the first film.

While the real life case of Ronald DeFeo Jr is much less supernatural, it does involve a family annihilation. On the morning of Nov 13, 1974, the 23 year old stunned residents of Amityville, NY with the revelation that six of his family members had been shot to death in their beds.

The Possession explores the events leading up to the murders, but...

This 2015 Horror Movie Combines Folklore and History To Create a Searing Paranormal Nightmare Like No Other
Image
While folklore has a whimsical nature that has long been harvested for children’s stories, it’s also been translated into some of the darkest horror films of all time. Hollywood has long been fond of the grim-dark fairytale and the latest trend with these retellings has been playing with non-Christian mythology and texts. Since the early 2010s, there has been a noticeable uptick in horror movies focusing on Jewish folklore surrounding ghosts and possessions. Films like David S. Goyer’s 2009 The Unborn and Ole Bornedal’s 2012 The Possession all deal with the Jewish legend of the dybbuk. Dybbuks are malicious spirits that possess the living and in Marcin Wrona’s final project, 2015's Demon, dybbuks are used to prod at the post-war period in Poland.

As if that’s not intriguing enough, the family will produce for Mixed Breed Films alongside Norman Golightly at Dark Castle Entertainment. That’s right; Family Movie is a Dark Castle horror pic.

As for the plot, the film follows “an eclectic but tight-knit family of filmmakers who suddenly find themselves in a real-life horror movie when a body turns up on the set of their latest low-budget slasher. 5 Deep Cut Horror Movies to Seek Out in October 2024
Image
New month, new horror recommendations from Deep Cuts Rising. This installment features five selections reflecting the month of October 2024.

Regardless of how they came to be here, or what they’re about, these past movies can generally be considered overlooked, forgotten or unknown.

This month’s offerings include a Frankenstein anime adaptation, a K-Pop ghost story, and a pioneer of screenlife horror.

Pigs (1973)

Pictured: Pigs (1973)

Directed by Marc Lawrence.

It would be wrong to say Pigs‘ complicated release history is more interesting than the movie itself. Just don’t go into the movie expecting a simple story of sinister swine getting their fill of human flesh. Adjust your expectations as you watch Pigs for Hog Out Month.

Instead of pure hog horror, Pigs is far more concerned with the troubled interiority of its protagonist Lynn (Toni Lawrence). Something from her haunted past is making her uneasy. And the longer she...

Deadly Tapes and Haunted Mirrors: Six of the Scariest Cursed Objects in Horror
Image
I’ve been fascinated with cursed objects ever since my mom first scared me with stories about those paintings of crying children that would supposedly survive raging fires while the house around them burned. Despite later learning that most of these yarns are nothing more than urban legends, I still find myself oddly attracted to tales about evil taking on a more abstract shape.

And in honor of Damian Mc Carthy’s Oddity taking the idea of cursed objects to the next level as the film unleashes horrors from its protagonist’s cabinet of curiosities, we’ve decided to come up with a list celebrating six of the spookiest cursed objects in horror media.

For the purposes of this list, we’ll be avoiding haunted dolls like Chucky and Annabelle, as I think the article will be much more entertaining if we focus on non-humanoid objects that pose more of an abstract threat.

Peacock’s Halloween Lineup Includes Universal Classics, Modern Favorites and 2 New Series
Image
Spooky season is nearly here.

And Peacock, Universal’s direct-to-consumer streaming platform, has just unveiled its Halloween programming line-up, full of tricks and treats from the studio’s back catalog, as well as two new series (“Teacup” and “Hysteria!”) for some fresh scares.

In 2022 and ’23, there was at least one big Blumhouse movie that simultaneously debuted on Peacock — in ’22, it was David Gordon Green’s trilogy-capping “Halloween Ends” and last year, it was the video game adaptation “Five Nights at Freddy’s”. This year doesn’t have anything quite like that, but it’s still a powerful collection of titles for every viewer.

The Sept. 1 batch includes classics like “Bride of Frankenstein,” “It Came From Outer Space” and “Werewolf of London;” 1980s favorites like “Halloween III: Season of the Witch,” “The Funhouse” and “The Thing;” along with more modern hits like the original “Candyman,” Jordan Peele’s “Us” and several entries in the “Saw” franchise.

Sam Raimi Returns to Horror With Send Help; Turns to Misery & Cast Away for Inspiration
Image
Sam Raimi, horror mastermind behind Evil Dead, returns with Send Help, a genre-blending horror-thriller inspired by Misery and Cast Away. Fans can expect Raimi's signature blend of horror and comedy in this theatrical release, set on an island with script by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift. As director and producer, Raimi's influence on the horror genre is long-standing and highly anticipated for his upcoming film, Send Help.

Putting aside the horror elements of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Evil Dead and Drag Me to Hell mastermind Sam Raimi hasn't helmed a horror film since that latter movie's release in 2009. But, according to Deadline, that looks to change with his next film, Send Help, which is being described by its distributor, 20th Century Studios, as a horror-thriller. Raimi will reportedly take inspiration from two cinematic classics when crafting Send Help: the horror movie Misery and the survival drama Cast Away.

Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala Tease Plans for ‘A Head Full of Ghosts’ Adaptation [Interview]
Veronika Franz
The Lodge and Goodnight Mommy filmmakers Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala are back this week with the ultra-bleak The Devil’s Bath, arriving on Shudder this Friday, and the filmmakers are already hard at work on their next feature: an adaptation of author Paul Tremblay’s knockout novel A Head Full of Ghosts.

Kyra Sedgwick says she and husband Kevin Bacon are planning a horror movie with daughter Sosie Bacon
Image
It's a family affair for Kyra Sedgwick, Kevin Bacon, and their daughter Sosie Bacon. While chatting with Variety for a new profile piece, Sedgwick revealed that she and her husband plan to make, and star, in a horror movie together alongside their daughter, who is best known for her exemplary performance in Parker Finn's 2022 horror film Smile.

The Emmy-winning actress fans know from shows and movies like The Closer and Phenomenon says she and Bacon want to co-direct a horror film together, but apparently, it's harder to get approved for a dual-directing credit from the Director's Guild of America than one might think, even for a couple with as much star power as these two.

She doesn't seem too worried about it, clarifying that they will figure it out when the time comes, though also admitting that she's strategic and wonders "if more people will see this if it's...

Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon Planning to Direct Horror Movie Starring Sosie Bacon
Parker Finn
The star of Parker Finn’s horror hit Smile, Sosie Bacon is the daughter of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick, and it sounds like the three are joining forces for an upcoming project.

Variety notes in a profile piece on Sedgwick that she’s currently developing a horror film for her company Big Swing that she plans to star in alongside Kevin Bacon and Sosie Bacon!

Additionally, Variety notes that Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon are planning to co-direct the untitled horror movie project. Oddly enough, however, that may be easier said than done.

“It’s very hard to get dual directing credit,” Sedgwick explains to the outlet. “If you promise the DGA that you will only direct together for the rest of your lives, then they’re more inclined to do it. But if not, they won’t. We’ll figure it out. But I’m very strategic.”

She adds,...

Kevin Bacon, Kyra Sedgwick plan to co-direct a horror film starring their daughter Sosie Bacon

Kevin Bacon has been in a good number of horror films over the decades, and he has admitted that he’s drawn to working in the genre because he’s a horror fan himself. Variety caught up with Sedgwick to interview her about her role in the Off Broadway play All of Me, and along the way they mentioned that she’s currently developing “a horror film she would star in with Bacon and their adult daughter, Sosie. The couple wants to co-direct the film, though the Directors Guild has other ideas.“

Sedgwick told them, “It’s very hard to get dual directing credit.

Nightwatch: Demons Are Forever Review
Image
Plot: Thirty years after the events of the 1994 serial killer thriller Nightwatch, the daughter of two of the deeply damaged surviving characters takes her dad’s old job as night watchman at the Department of Forensic Medicine. Investigating the events that ruined her parents’ lives, she accidentally kicks off a new killing spree.

Review: Back in 1994, Danish filmmaker Ole Bornedal brought the world a serial killer thriller called Nightwatch, about a young law student named Martin (played by future Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) who takes a job as night watchman at the Department of Forensic Medicine in Copenhagen and inadvertently gets mixed up in the investigation of the serial killer case that has been providing the morgue with a lot of fresh corpses. 10 Overlooked Thriller Movies That Roger Ebert Loved
Image
Roger Ebert's unique rating system helps identify impressive thrillers worth watching, earning them the coveted "thumbs-up". Ebert appreciated horror-thriller mixes like "The Possession", lauding fresh twists on familiar formulas in the genre. Ebert praised buddy cop film "End of Watch" for its strong performances, chemistry, and depiction of dangerous police work.

The late Roger Ebert is still hailed to this day as one of the greatest film critics ever, and his earnest reviews of thriller movies helped give credit to some undersung gems of the genre. On his eponymous website, rogerebert.com, Ebert's reviews of some of the best thrillers of all time are immortalized, which gave credit where credit was due without holding back on the films that failed to satiate his hunger for suspense. Never one to judge a film by its pedigree or popularity, looking through Ebert's old reviews uncovers some hidden treasures in the thriller space.

The Correct Order To Watch The Amityville Horror Movies
Image
On November 13, 1974, at 112 Ocean Ave. in Amityville, New York, a young man named Ronald DeFeo woke up in the middle of the night, took up a shotgun, and went from room to room in his home, systematically murdering six members of his family. DeFeo was apprehended by the police. At first, DeFeo claimed the murders were mob-related, but he later confessed to committing the crimes himself. He was sentenced to 25 years to life for his crimes. DeFeo died in prison in 2021.

DeFeo's murders became notorious with the publication of Jay Anson's nonfiction book "The Amityville Horror" in 1977. After the killings, the Lutz family moved into 112 Ocean Ave., and they claimed to experience a panoply of paranormal phenomena. Flies mobbed the building, and the entire Lutz family reported hearing eerie voices. George Lutz, the family patriarch, claimed to be possessed by a demonic presence that was driving him to kill his family.

The latest genre movie from Veronika Franz and Severin Fiala, the directing duo behind the disturbing horror films Goodnight Mommy and The Lodge, is The Devil’s Bath, which is set to have its world premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival this month. Before the movie’s festival screening, Variety reports that the Shudder streaming service has already picked up the rights to release The Devil’s Bath in North America, the U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand sometime this summer. Variety also reports that Franz and Fiala have signed on to direct the psychological horror movie A Head Full of Ghosts, which is based on a novel by Paul Tremblay (you can pick up a copy of the book Here). Is The Possession’s Dybbuk Box Real? The Haunted Item Explained
Image
The Possession centers around a mysterious dybbuk box, claiming to be based on a true story, blurring the line between fiction and reality. The box is believed to be haunted by a malicious spirit called Abyzou and goes through three stages of possession, ultimately attaching itself to a human host. The true story of the dybbuk box involves claims made by Kevin Mannis, who later admitted to embellishing its history, sparking debate over whether the box is truly haunted.

The Possession centers its plot around a mysterious object called the dybbuk box and even claims that its story is based on a true story, making it hard not to be curious if the box is real. Many horror movies come with the "based on a true story" motif, but the real-world connotations of their narrative are not as simple as they usually seem. The true story behind The Possession's...

The Hills Have Eyes (1977) – Wtf Really Happened to This Horror Movie?
Image
The episode of Wtf Really Happened to This Horror Movie covering The Hills Have Eyes was Written and Narrated by Andrew Hatfield, Edited by Mike Conway, Produced by Lance Vlcek and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.

“We’re gonna be French fries! Human French fries!”

We’ve talked about the loose definition of based on a true story but what happen when what the movie is based on may not even be entirely factual. This is can happen with movies like The Possession which was based on an internet article that someone fleshed out into a story when they thought the thing they bought was cool. Other times a movie can be merely inspired by an event even when they don’t credit that event in the film’s credits. Think A Nightmare On Elm Street. Wes Craven read articles about a bunch of people dying in...

Ouija: Origin of Evil (2016) Revisited – Horror Movie Review
Image
The Ouija: Origin of Evil episode of The Black Sheep was Written and Narrated by Andrew Hatfield, Edited by Brandon Nally, Produced by Lance Vlcek and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.

The Ouija board, and that’s weejee board not weeja board with all due respect to Joe Bob Briggs, has been a constant source of fascination since it’s inception in 1890. Ghostly movements and other supernatural appearances went back further than that and there were crude inceptions before 1890 but that’s when the board as we know it came about. It was commercialized sometime later and of course; it’s showed up as a device in horror movies ever since. The Witchboard series that started in 1986 is probably the most popular series that features the spirit communicator but another, more straightforward series called Ouija is also out there. While the first one that came out in...

The Possession (2012) Revisited – Horror Movie Review
Image
The episode of Best Horror Movie You Never Saw covering The Possession was Written by Andrew Hatfield, Narrated by Jason Hewlett, Edited by Paul Bookstaber, Produced by John Fallon and Tyler Nichols, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.

While every decade has movies that fly under the radar, the addition of multiple streaming services in the 2010s gives us quite the list to work off of. While everyone’s favorite decade for horror is usually the ’80s or ’90s, there are far more hidden gems to find now than ever before. How a movie with a great cast, good production value, and the vaunted “based on a true story angle” was somehow successful at the box office and entirely forgotten just a little over a decade after release is just bizarre. It’s one of the more interesting demon takeover movies we’ve seen and definitely earns its title of...

Shudder’s ‘Attachment’ and 5 Great Dybbuk Stories from Film and TV
Image
Jewish horror certainly isn’t new. ‘The Dybbuk,’ a play by S. Ansky about the Jewish folkloric demon, was first performed in 1920. Since, there have been many stories of the mythological nightmare, from stage to screen and otherwise. The dybbuk is named for the word “to cleave” or “to cling,” referencing the demon’s way of latching onto a living body. It’s a soul of a dead person that takes up a living host, possessing them until it is able to accomplish its goal.

Unlike Christian demons we’re used to seeing in films, dybbuks aren’t cohorts of the devil, but souls of the dead who are unable or unwilling to move on due to unfinished business. Movies like The Unborn (2009), The Possession (2012), and Ezra (2017) used the dybbuk, but each fell into a common trap. We won’t spend time tackling the 2003 created “dybbuk box,” but suffice it...

We Have A Ghost’s Scary Horror Movie Easter Eggs Make The Film Better
Image
We Have A Ghost humorously pays homage to the iconic scary movies that came before it, but rather than distracting from the plot, the Netflix horror movie is better for it. Netflix’s We Have A Ghost follows the journey of Kevin, who discovers that his family’s new house is haunted. The ghost in question, Ernest (whose real name is revealed to be Randy), is different from typical vengeful specters, and he and Kevin become friends. However, their lives get turned upside down when Kevin's video of Randy goes viral, bringing unwanted attention to the ghost as Kevin tries to help Randy remember his past.

Among the less-than-welcome attention to Randy’s existence is a visit from a famous TV medium, Judy Romano (played by Jennifer Coolidge). While Judy and her crew are at the house, Randy pulls out all the stops to scare them. Randy performs references to famous horror movies,...

The Amityville IP: ‘The Amityville Horror’ Begins Our Journey Through the Entire ‘Amityville’ Saga
Image
Twice a month Joe Lipsett will dissect a new Amityville film to explore how the “franchise” has evolved in increasingly ludicrous directions.

At this point, the Amityville “universe” of films is something of a running joke in horror circles. It is borderline ridiculous that there’s so many entries (for those who are curious: 2022 has seen the release of no less than 10 new films!). As Paste editor Jacob Oller explains in his piece “Why Are There So Many Absurd Amityville Horror Movies?”, there appear to be two main reasons why there are so many movies with Amityville in the title.

After the Lutzs lost their suit against The Possession and 3-D producer Dino De Laurentiis, Amityville titles became open season so long as they didn’t skew too closely to the real-life story. As Oller explains: “The nuttier the twist, the less worried anyone has to be about getting sued.

Kevin Bacon Celebrates Smile & Daughter Sosie Bacon's Success
Image
After dominating the box office for three straight weeks, Kevin Bacon is showing his support for Smile and his daughter Sosie Bacon's success. The younger Bacon stars in the horror movie as Dr. Rose Cotter, a psychiatrist working in a psych ward who witnesses a patient commit suicide in a bizarre and horrific fashion in front of her. Shortly after, Rose finds her life and mental stability crumbling as she realizes there may have been a dark and terrifying supernatural threat behind the patient's death that's only the latest link in a string of mysterious deaths.

Also starring Kyle Gallner, Caitlin Stasey, Jessie T. Usher, Kal Penn, and Robin Weigert, Smile debuted to generally favorable reviews from critics and audiences alike for its layered narrative and chilling visuals, while its similarities to The Ring and It Follows largely divided reviewers. One of the consistent points of praise across the...

Movie of the Week #23: Leon Nicholas picks Dabbe: The Possession (2013) by Hasan Karacadağ
Posesión satánica (2012)
It is Halloween season, and there is no better time to revel in the festivities than by catching a truly haunting movie. “The Possession” is the fourth entry in the dabbe series of movies which introduced the ‘Djinn’ archetype into Turkish cinema. Apart from that, it also unveiled many fresh takes on the genre that makes it truly unique and thrilling to watch. There is its highly realistic camerawork that puts you right into the action as if you were witnessing an exorcism in a claustrophobic room. And then there it is its audacity to poke at Islamic dark arts and demonic possessions, a macabre marriage that is not only taboo but also a gutsy headfirst trudge into an unspoken and unheard chapter of the horror playbook.

“The Possession” is the story of a psychiatrist who is highly sceptical of the nether world and of spiritual hoopla until she gets...

HBO Max New Releases: August 2022
Image
And just like that, winter has come again. HBO Max’s list of new releases for August 2022 is highlighted by the return of the king. Or more accurately: the return of the queen … of the Seven Kingdoms.

Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon is set to premiere on HBO and HBO Max on Aug. 21, just over three years after Game of Thrones concluded in controversial fashion with “The Iron Throne.” This new series is a prequel, depicting the civil war known as the Dance of the Dragons from George R.R. Martin’s lore. When dragon fights dragon, the realm will be torn asunder. But the viewer will certainly delight in all the Targaryen action.

How The Possession Changed Jeffrey Dean Morgan Forever
Posesión satánica (2012)
There's plenty for viewers to be scared of when it comes to the 2012 horror film "The Possession." There's the fact that it was based on the allegedly true story of the "dybbuk box," a mysterious, cursed object that some claim is responsible for the physical and psychological torment of nearly everyone who owned or happened to be around it. There's also the fact that the film realistically depicts the helplessness of a family in turmoil, with their pain and silent heartbreak made worse by the presence of a malevolent supernatural entity that takes control of Emily, the family's youngest daughter. I mean, navigating unfortunate family affairs...

Image
Universal Pictures has slated their 87North holiday thriller Violent Night for Dec. 2, 2022.

Violent Night is produced by 87North’s Kelly McCormick and David Leitch. The screenplay is by Pat Casey and Josh Miller, the writers of Sonic the Hedgehog.

Uni has the pic in all territories.

Hulu New Releases: September 2021
Image
September usually means the beginning of the traditional fall TV season. As such, Hulu’s list of new releases for September 2021 contains some impressive TV swings.

For starters, all of ABC and Fox’s (both now united under the Disney banner alongside Hulu) fall season offerings will be made available to stream on Hulu the next day. More impressively, however, two FX on Hulu originals make their way to the streaming world this month.

The first is the long-awaited adaptation of the classic comic Y: The Last Man. The story of a virus that destroys every mammal with a Y-chromosome (save for one escape artist and his monkey) is set to premiere on September 13. Shortly after that, the B.J. Novak-produced anthology series The Premise arrives on September 16. Even those who are fatigued from timely anthology concepts will want to check this one out.

Frightfest 2021: Writer/director Leroy Kincaide talks ‘The Last Rite’
Image
Ahead of the world premiere screening of his debut feature film The Last Rite, writer / director Leroy Kincaide talks about his new movie, the enlightenment of being an undertaker, his personal experiences with sleep paralysis and the ‘badassery’ of 80s horror movies.

Leroy, you began your working life as an Undertaker. How did that come about?

I was introduced to the undertaking industry through my uncle who was also an undertaker at the time. I was only 17 when I took the job, They had a vacancy and I needed the work, so I guess I sort of just fell into the role as I had no real education when I left school. I worked there for just over a year and probably did upwards of 400-500 funerals in that time. I found it a very enlightening and uplifting experience as it taught me the value and perspective of life at a very early age.
