This contest was originally planned to air on 1 March 2003. Auditions were to be held on 24 February 2003. Only the first 1,000 applicants who showed up were to be picked. Thousands of eager applicants showed up but overcrowding led to pushing and shoving on the streets outside of the MTV Studios in Times Square. Two police officers were injured and four people were arrested for disorderly conduct. The contest was then postponed until May.
