The series is very funny. The poor young people encounter so much interference from their family! It was fun seeing some young actors early in their career. I enjoyed watching this.
Before people start ranting at me and accusing me off every "ism" I have nothing against Greeks nor am I a nationalist despite a couple of Greek Cypriots being rude to me I just think the very idea and execution of this programme is unthinkably stupid and unscrupulous and lets start by having reality check list :-
My checklist is complete please think about the points made before judging or dismissing this review and then rate it please.
- Yes Greeks and Turks have some similarities though this is often exaggerated, I can say generally and at a glance that Americans and Mexicans, the British and the French have many similarities and yet they each make clear that they are very different from one another and have their moments off conflict
- In the real world both Niko and Nazli will either be hurt with a tragic end or to have to pay a price that will hurt either one of their families ...remember the model Tugce Kazaz till she returned back to her Turkish roots. But to avoid controversy the executors and directors avoided this scenario going in to romantic fantasy in harsh reality there would be no happily ever after.
- All this series does is expose the ignorance and naivety of both the Greek and Turkish fans of this series. I would say part of this is that they both want to be Western European when in reality they are not because it is not in their nature, Greece belongs to the Balkans and Turkey to the Middle East.
- For a good comedy drama that will work without changing the series much instead of foreign son in law how about Bosnali damat ... as Niko at first pretends to be Bosnian to Nazli's family ..now that would off worked well that one change for the series were it could of taken its course.

This is a great series !!! Greeks and Turks whether they like it or not are brothers and sisters.
With some previous comments from past emails, true, politicians are destroying both peoples attitude to each other.
I have satellite TV which gets a lot of foreign channels and me wife who is of Greek/Turkish background and her side can relate and loves it so much.
Where can we listen to the music that is played at each beginning of the show, thinks its very lavish and has a real nice harmonic tune to it.
Hope to hear from some people, Tesekkur / Efxapisto ! :)

Wonderful story line, great actors, priceless characters. It clearly shows to all the similarities between Greeks and Turks who'd mostly like to think they are different. The ugly side of prejudice, family love, day to day lives of a couple of families with socially different backgrounds that were forced to be joined by marriage and a common grandson are all shown on this sitcom beautifully. The acting is superb, there is not a person that appears on this show that I could claim does not belong. My husband and I anxiously await Friday nights each week to watch it. My husband's father was among the Turks sent out of the Island of Crete many years ago, so he can identify with the Greek family that were forced to leave Istanbu. He enjoys the show from 2 different angles. It is nice to see a situation of this sort under a funnier light as opposed to heavy dramatic flavouring!
Well, this a very good TV series from our neighbor country Turkey. Its a series about romance and love.Very good indeed. Here in Greece we had a similar series but is was a dramatic one (cant understand why Greek writers are stuck on this kind...drama is not always good). To be exact I prefer the Turkish one cause combines lots of good things (characters, script etc) and cause as a curious Greek I'd love to see the Turkish point of view...with this one u can see the common cultural background of modern Greece and Turkey. This TV series was really a good surprise for me.I am addicted neighbors!!!Not forget to mention than Nehri Erdogan is the most beautiful creature on Earth!!I would be happy to see her coming here to Greece!Congratulations!!!Merhaba!
