Trois 3: The Escort

Not sure if that counts as pun - let's pretend it does. Especially because this is part 3 of the Trois "trilogy" and has a triangle human connection we have to deal with. Or rather are witness too. Has quite a few interesting actors in it too.

The movie is interesting with a predictable twist I reckon. But one that works - and again there is a fair amount of nudity and love scenes involved. But there is also some violence. A good mixture then ... for what this is, it is quite decent ... by the way: apart from the title, there is not much connection between the movies ... well all have some twists, so there is that.

After his appearance in Mr 3000, I was blown away by Brian White, which led me to seek out other films in his filmography. Well, to my surprise and delight I found Trois 3 and watched it FOUR times within TWO days!! It is very well made! Too bad this wasn't shown in the main theaters. Brian White is simply the most gorgeous man ever made, EVER!!! This film, besides the excellent cast, particularly one of my favorite actors Isaiah Washington, is very well made from a cinematography viewpoint. The director put it down on the real! At first, I was taken aback but upon the 2nd, 3rd, & 4th viewing, I got what he is trying to do. Reagan is right when she says you have to see it TWICE, at the very least. I believe once you see it, you will want to see it MORE than twice, like me! I bought this DVD sight unseen and its the best purchase EVER!!! I HIGHLY recommend it.

Compared to the "urban" films coming out in the last couple of years, this movie was such a breath of fresh air. From Storyline to Plot to Acting to Directing, this film really brought a much needed boost to the black films I've been seeing (Excluding Ray, etc.). It is great to see how each one of these Trois films has gotten better and better. Andthis one takes it to another level. It was totally unexpected. In fact,I didn't even know they had a third one. It didn't get promoted like the others. Regardless, it's definitely a film to check out. This director and writer are something else. Unlike most sexy / erotic thrillers, this film's story spent more time in the depth of it's characters than reveling only in quick shocks. It reminded me more of an art house film like Red Rock West or The Last Seduction. Like those movies, it doesn't get caught up in the over dramatized twists but has a seductive quality to the plot and this Director really brings it home. I was surprised that an urban film was created in this way. Most aren't. Kudos to the Director. Kudos to the Writer. Kudos to the makers of Trois for making another one. And who's the actress who played the madame? She's really good!

I just rented The Escort and I must say I was pleasantly pleased with the story, the visuals, and the main characters played by Brian White, Isiah Washington and Regean Preston (who used to be the teenage daughter on Robert Townshend's TV sitcom The Parenthood0--shes beautiful and all grown up now!!). The ending is a definite surprise (much like Pandoras Box was). It definitely gives you an indie art film feel with intelligent dialogue, a provocative soundtrack and creative editing. I was even shocked at how rapper Bone Crusher was subdued as the bouncer/security man and can actually act as well. A shame that this flick was not in the theatres. I am looking forward to White and Preston to be the next big stars of film! I would love to see them pair up in more films . They are a beautiful looking couple!

It was nothing amazing or showcstopping. It was a slightly above average story with slightly above average acting. slightly above average plot twist
