Che ne sarà di noi

Quite unique.

Che Ne Sara' di Noi I thought was a quite unique film. Everyone goes through the summer that comes after leaving high school and everybody feels that they are going towards the "unknown", that can be going towards university, college or work.

This movie talks about 3 friends that while on vacation ask themselves: what will happen to us? (che ne sara' di noi).

The movie at the beginning is not dramatic at all, it's actually quite funny in presenting the 3 different friends that come from 3 totally different backgrounds. After the Italian "maturita'" exam (the final high school exam) one of them pushes to go on vacation on a Greek island as his lover has just gone. When they get there they somehow start to change and slowly it seems that their friendship is dying.

The ending is quite open, they all take different paths that somehow makes them finish their teen age and makes them start having responsibilities.

The movie is very nice and I hope it will be translated in English although I doubt it.

What a disaster!

It had a lot of nominees for David of Donatello, fortunately it didn't win anyone, it might be an insult to Italian cinema. It is the summer of three friend just after last high-school's exam, they go to Santorini island, in Greece. the plot is very banal, there are different ways to see the life and the future for each of these guys, they meet girls and living this experience they grow up, they start having fun and no more and then they learn to have important decision for their life, they learn their responsibilities. I tried to be objective for the plot, finding what director wanted to show, aren't we tired of this plots? I guess not everybody is tired, watching to the box-office, but I am. Probably they wanted to imitate hollywoodian teen movies putting a piece of Italian culture, but the mix doesn't show us anything new. It is just a happy movie with a banal happy end politically correct. Full of these pathetic mystic crisis, about love, about friendship, family, future and so on. bad interpretation for most of the actors, above all Violante Placido and Muccino, constant same music that become obsessive, it's good just the location...obviously!

a small and overestimated part of youth

Considering the nationality of the enthusiastic user who posted on thin film, I must think about the idea which probably Americans (and not only) have about us. This film shows the most superficial, bad-designed and stereotyped side of adolescence. Silvio Muccino, sometimes nice as an actor(the kind of actor who can play only himself), is a terrible writer, but it's not his fault. his superficiality is probably led by the luxurious and thoughtless condition that he shared with all the rich young people of his generation: they all attended the same, state but trendy high school for left-wing important people's children (and I'm left-wing too, but I have to say it), they all speak in a laughable agitated way, screaming loudly their usual teen-age thoughts. most of all, they pretend to be more serious and intelligent than they really are, in a continuous, irritating comparison to the "masses". Violante Placido, daughter of a once great actor, is one of the worst imposed-by-her-name actresses ever existed, and Giuseppe San Felice is quite plain and not able to express emotions: he definitely grew up at the contrary: from Nanni Moretti's movie to the ridiculous Christmas products by Neri Parenti). Anyway, Giovanni Veronesi is a bootlicker director who knows how to make the things work: dialogues are extremely funny (maybe with Muccino's help, or maybe even when they don't have to be that way), and the character of Elio Germano (good 25 years old actor, always used as a co-star) is sometimes pathetycal but quite deep. that makes "Che ne sarà..." a mediocre but not ugly film

It's AWFUL! Pessimo!

What could i say about this awful movie? First of all, i rented it only to laugh at Silvio Muccino and the other actors, which haven't study acting and appear like clowns on the screen. If you want to waste your time laughing a lot, well, this is the right film for you! The plot doesn't exist, and it's clear that the director knew it, so decided to set the story on a Greek island, in order to film wonderful natural places instead of good dialogs. The only good actor is Elio Germano, who has studied more than the other actors (are they really actors? I don't really know..). Silvio Muccino can't speak in Italian, but speaks his own language which is derived from the roman dialect, and it's not understandable. All considered, it's a stupid film for teenagers which hasn't won any awards (fortunately), and will be considered as one of the worst movies of the year 2004.

Very good try

I believe that the film was a very good try. I don't agree with most of the rest of the comments.

Its not a bad, usual film for teenagers like one said. Characters are nice, sympathetic and quite all of the actors play good their role. You never get bored. It has a lot of funny moments and a lot of useful meanings for youngsters and older people. It is a fresh and nice film which takes place in beautiful Santorini.

The 3 high-school boys go to Santorini searching for a chance to leave back their ordinary life and philosophize about life. It's a real tribute to a young person's world of emotions and not only. Many times, it reminded me my teenager period. It's so moving! The direction is also very good and the filming of natural beauties excellent.

Although the plot could be more tight and specific, the actors play very good for their age and for their role, and they keep you interested from the beginning to the end of the film. Not because it takes place to an island of my country, but i honestly believe that 5,5 is not a fair vote for this film.

Nice Try, But Doesn't Score a Hole-in-One

This coming of age comedy drama has a young, mature, and sexy and attractive cast. The trio of budding males, who are out to sow their oats on a scenic Greek island, have spent most of their lives studying and growing up in Italy. Their parents are, surprisingly, very unmeddling and quite supportive of their maturing sons.

This genre, particularly in America, has been done continuously as in such films as American Pie and Fast Times at Ridgemont High, etc. As previously mentioned, the movie has an attractive cast that acts well, the locale is spectacular and makes you want to immediately go on vacation, and the music fits its scenery.

But it is the script, cowritten by the talented, and still young, Italian actor/writer Silvio Muccino (who also stars in the film), with its lack of focus and diverse set of messages, that makes the film lose its hold over you. The film attempts to incorporate both seriousness and laughs, where it might have been better to focus more on one or the other. Its message is just too diffuse and doesn't quite have the impact that it strives for.

Hopefully this is the first of many cinematic learning experiences and is a start-up spark plug for Mr. Muccino's film career, who obviously has enough energy and charisma to carry a film on his own. Let's all hope he continues his writing and acting (and maybe even begins some directing) and develops his own style to one day become Italy's answer to Quentin Tarantino. Overall grade: B-.
