Ocean Front Property was a wonderful first movie for Joe Scott. It is touching and funny, making the film a treat to see. It was well acted and Joe added a great soundtrack.
If this film is any indication, it looks like Joe Scott will have a successful career ahead of him. He wrote, directed, produced, starred in and edited Ocean Front Property - all within a very limited budget.
I was lucky enough to get into the first sold-out screening of Ocean Front Property when it played in Dallas. Hopefully we will see it released nationally. I can't wait to see Joe's next movie. If it's anything like Ocean Front Property, I know I'll love it.
Good work Mr. Scott.

Who has never been the "dumpee" (or the "dumpor") in a relationship? Haven't we all experienced that particular pain to some degree? It's devastating and can lead to all sorts of problems in life, if you let it. In Ocean Front Property, protagonist Rick is the prototype for those who hold that getting drunk and staying that way is a viable option to grieving.
How else can you deal with a world where everything reminds you of the loss you have suffered? Escaping to a beautiful beach for a week with a couple of friends might seem like the perfect antidote to the depression that follows being dumped. Until the "x" shows up with your "replacement".
Having to face the "x", confront your feelings and get past them is ripe ground for exploration and Joe Scott makes good use of that here. Watching these five "friends" work out the kinks in their lives is entertaining as well as thought provoking.
I liked this movie very much. It was far better than the usual box office-driven fare. Here the characters and situations are well crafted, compelling, funny and true to life. I wanted to get to know these people better, maybe even hang out with them...(Although I was there age several years ago, so that probably wouldn't work out too well.)

I saw the first screening of this film in Dallas, and was impressed by the quality of writing and the creative, and very effective, way that Director (and writer, and producer, and acting lead, and I don't know what else) Joe Scott used limited resources to tell a story that is by turns funny, poignant, and instructive.
All the roles are well-acted and the story moves along briskly. The growth in understanding among the characters is much better handled than in many big budget films where the protagonist simply makes a miraculous, black-box conversion from clodhood to sensitivity.
I hope Scott has the opportunity to create more work. I'll be in line at the box office.

I really liked this movie. The acting wasn't flawless, at times it was a little wooden and rehearsed, but some of it was also very funny, touching and true. Sometimes maybe the characters said things that most people would only think and not say out loud, but at least the emotions were realistic for someone in those situations.
It sounds cliché' and you can believe it or not but I laughed out loud and cried real tears while watching this movie because I could imagine myself in the situation the main character was in. So to me, that made it a great movie.
I am not a friend or family of Joe Scott. I heard about this movie because I'm a fan of the Glengarry Bhoys, who had a lot of the music in the movie. I bought two copies because Joe was donating all his profits to victims of the hurricane in Texas, which was very admirable.

I was at the Magnolia Film Festival when I saw this film, and I must say within the first 5 minutes I loved it. Joe Scott does a wonderful job with its story line and holds it very true and in-depth with real life.
Having just come out of a relationship very close to that of the main character, I related well to the emotions of this film. There were events in the movie that I found myself going through in a lot of those same situations. Seeing this film actually helped me close those last loose ends I had left in my life.
I hope and cant wait to see more work like this from Joe Scott. I hope that very soon we see his work on the big screen. I know I will be one of the first in line for it.

- TriviaShot entirely at a beach house in Galveston, where all the cast and crew lived during the shooting, produced completely on credit cards, with two hurricanes almost ending the production, the film has played in over 20 film festivals and won 2 Audience Awards, 3 Best Film awards, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actress, and Best Screenplay.
- ErroresWhen the characters are looking at a picture album and talking about a trip they took, we cut back and forth between two different people who are both holding the same album.

Rick Noonson: [in Voice Over] I'd watch the waves come in. Every wave alters the beach a little bit. Grain by tiny grain, the beach changes completely. After a while, a beach can become practically unrecognizable. Like life, I suppose.
