Was great, then .....

Watching on Amazon Prime. Season 1 with Gloria Rueben and Catherine and Dean was great. Gave it a 10. Then came Viveca Fox replacing Gloria. Show ruined!

Not bad

The first season of this show was the best, though the other two are worth watching.

The first season gave us a great theme song that matched the mood of the show, and all the characters worked well together. In the second season, they changed it all up and gave us a less believable lead FBI agent with forgettable supporting cast, and a crappy theme song change. The new people in charge at least left the same actress playing the psychic, but it took another 6 or 8 episodes for the new season cast get their rhythm down well.

Not a waste of time, but not a top-notch show.

Missing Jumped the Shark

I liked the first season a lot better than the second.

Vivica A. Fox was good in Two Can Play That Game but the jeans and heels attire took the integrity off her character in Missing and now even Caterina Scorsone is dressing the same! You can look older without looking trashy.

It could be that there is no 4th season due to the writing/directing but I had no complaints when Gloria Reuben was FBI agent Nicole Scott. I was hoping Gloria Reuben would replace Marianne Jean-Baptiste on Without a Trace but I was only disappointed, yet again, with the addition of Roselyn Sanchez.

Is there anything good left to watch?

Should have kept the original cast

I watched every episode the first season and enjoyed the mentoring of Jess by Brooke. Gloria Reuben brought maturity and nuance to her character.

Unfortunately, this season is almost unbearable to watch with the absolutely horrible acting by Vivica Fox. Her character is simply not believable as a senior FBI agent (at least not in the way she "acts" it). The secondary storyline of Fox's character with the hunky Mark Consuelos is also a bit contrived. Thank God for the over the top abrasiveness of their new supervisor (played to perfection by Justin Louis). The new supporting cast overall is good, but is not an improvement over the first season's. I'm giving it a couple more episodes before I give up on it.

This show completely changed from season 1!

Kind of puzzling why ABC decided to changed almost the entire cast for season 2. It like a completely new show and it for the bad too! Who thought this was good never understood the show!

Excellent

This show had consistently compelling story lines and a great cast. While it was never going to break the mould, it was a show that I looked forward to watching each week. Caterina Scorsone was particularly good in the lead role, with Justin Louis and Vivica Fox in particular also giving fine performances. I'm not sure why the previous reviewer didn't like the new cast; I prefer them to season one.

It's a great shame it got cancelled when it did. The writers had just started introducing more elements of a Season story arc format which was lifting the show to a new level of interest, and the character's lives were becoming more three-dimensional and interesting than in previous seasons. It was also left on something of a cliffhanger, which is annoying to say the least. Since ratings were consistently high, it seems an odd decision to cease production. If it's not going to be re-scheduled, which in my opinion it should be, Sony could at the very least release Seasons 1 and 3 on DVD.

"Have you seen this show? Call this number if you have any information that can help the investigation."

With a lot of series revolving around police work, including a handful or so already dealing specifically with this particular aspect/type, this needed a niche, something to call its own. What they came up with is to have the lead, Mastriani(who works as a psychic for the FBI, tracking down people who have gone missing), have strange visions, that are puzzle pieces relating to whatever case she's currently working on. If this sounds like a plot device and even a deus ex machina... then you're kinda right. It was, on several occasions. The role is played by Caterina Scorsone, a young Canadian girl who carries it quite well. Acting is a mixed bag at times. Quality ranges a bit. Where the first season was fairly straight-forward, the second replaces all characters but the main(and that was not entirely well-received, as viewers had grown attached to the people and relationships), stylizes it somewhat(adding, among other things, Vivica A. Fox and a new theme song with more of a rock music flavor), and gives it an "edge", represented by the attitude of the new token Black cast member, and Justin Louis as the tough-as-nails FBI Director Pollock. There was good and bad to the changes. I can imagine some abandoning it after so much of what they were(at the very least) used to being tossed out the window, in spite of the move clearly intending to attract a larger audience. I like both groups of episodes, in different ways. It was a classic crime-drama, with focus on the people. Then it became action-driven and cool, resembling newer television efforts in the genre. It never really stopped being a mostly passable mystery, and kept you guessing fairly nicely. I recommend this to fans of the concept, especially the supernatural portion. 7/10

total dissapointment.

I loved the first season, then the cast was dumped. This show had so much promise then everything changed and the show did a complete nosedive. Whoever made the decision to change the cast the way they did should be drummed out of the business for being a complete moron.

Caterina Scorsone is amazing as Jess Mastriani

I just had a chance to watch the pilot episode and Caterina Scorsone is amazing as Jess Mastriani, I sincerely hope this show gets a long run. The interplay between the characters is well crafted and I very easily bought into the premise. There was something about the understated & matter of fact way that Caterina Scorsone delivers her character's gift that works well for `suspension of disbelief'

It was also a joy to see Alberta Watson playing a mom, she scared the heck out of me when she played Madeline from `Nikita'. Writer Producers Davis & Laurin deliver great characters. I hope that this show us given a chance to build an audience.

Season one 10 stars, after that, a solid 6/10

The ability to suspend disbelief is critical to watching this series. It's definitely not a crime drama, but more fantasy, like Medium. Season one had substantial chemistry between Jess, Brooke and Sunny. It felt like they had developed a real respect and camaraderie for one another early on, eventually building a true partnership between Jess and Brooke and a strong team of four including boss Alan Coyle. The actors and writers did a good job with character development which allowed me to care about what happened next. You got to know each of them through individual and defining character arcs throughout the season. The loss of Gloria Reuben, Justina Machado and even Dean McDermott forced you to start over. There was absolutely no continuity. It was as though Caterina Scorsone kept her character but changed shows, like some sort of thrown together at the last minute spin off. The chemistry never returned. The supporting cast that played Jess's family, an integral part of her life, just faded away as well. The show was okay after that but I never managed to get invested in the characters. They had no depth. The acting was average, the writing was average. The only reason season 2 & 3 pull a 6/10 was Scorsone's solid performance. Justin Louis did as good a job as anyone could with a basically one dimensional character, Consuelos was cute and Fox was enthusiastic, but it never got close to season one. Someone did a disservice to the fans when they gutted this show and it never recovered.

Fabulous until season 2!!!!

I can't believe I had not seen this until now!! But as much as I hate to say the new cast, and especially Vivica Fox is why I couldn't continue to watch it. That first FBI agent was a beast and her acting intrigued me to binge watch. Her acting made me believe the story was real and I wanted to help. Oh not to mention she had the best love interest. Vivica Fox has and still is not a good actor. She tries to hard to be something she is not instead of becoming the roll she tries to be more than the roll. Now that I have seen her over the years it just not acting it is her. She's done OK for a self but I believe she could've done a lot better and she just starts controlling everything.

Took a nose dive down Alice in Wonderland's rabbit hole in season 2.

Just finished season 2. First season showed promise & made it feel like it could be credible. Vivica Fox on the 2nd season, made it seem more of a joke and looked as if she was trying to keep an arms length between her an Mastriony. Show no longer seemed to have drive, heart or spot on passion it did from season 1. I was expecting the show to continue the 'musical chairs theme' with the cast in season 3. When that didn't happen, I started debating whether to continue watching or not. Not something I'd recommend from season 2 on.

Read someone's review that they preferred the cast from season 2 over that of season 1?!! What?!! Makes absolutely no sense unless they had the hot's for Vivica and didn't care about the quality of the show. I'd understand that then.

a disappointing second season

I really enjoyed both this series and Wild Card when they debuted last year.

Both series were completely revamped for their second seasons. While I don't feel Wild Card has suffered that much for the changes, I am very disappointed in what they've done to Missing, aka 1-800-Missing (poor show, it didn't even get to keep its title).

For some reason, probably just chemistry, the teaming of Caterina Scorsone and Gloria Reuben worked better than does Scorsone and Viveca Fox. The idea this year, apparently, was to make the series more intense, with Scorsone's character becoming FBI. Gone are her family and all the things that gave this series a lighter touch. Also, the visions seem less integral to the story lines.

I think my biggest gripe is the theme song is gone. I just loved the old one "This dream is real...take a look around..." It had a more lyrical quality - but then, so did the show.

One of the truly Good Mystery Detective Shows of its time!

I "stumbled upon" 1-800-Missing totally by accident while looking for something worthwhile to watch since summer brings a lot of not worth my eyesight drivel. It was refreshing, had all the right ingredients to keep me clicking on episodes as fast as they would load. I know how "old" the show is but, it was great. The cast needs to know what a fantastic job they did. I loved it! Truly an enjoyable watch.

The casts acting skills were equal to today's skills. They showed emotion when a sad situation occurred, there were in house relationships but, the actors did not allow these to interfere with their work ethic. Just good acting with great writers & a good plot.
