I watched this on Netflix's online service, initially as a time-killer. I had expected to turn it off after 10 minutes. Thankfully, I didn't.
It turned out to be a fast-paced comedy of errors even more complex than What's Up Doc?. Let's see... There's two gossipy girls who keep getting everything wrong, mis-delivered love letters, a hooker mistaken for an exchange student (and vice-versa), two identical handbags, one of which contains a big wad of cash and a planned armored car robbery.
With all that happening, yeah, it's hard to follow all the plot convolutions, but that's what makes it funny initially and eventually hilarious.
The young cast performs energetically, which is all this kind of movie really requires.
Not highly recommended, but a pleasant way to kill an hour and a half.

"Dorm Daze" is better than I expected. As anybody who has seen "Pledge This" can attest, the name National Lampoon in association with a college-referencing title is no indication of quality. But "Dorm Daze" never stoops to the disturbing gross out "comedy" of that movie, and nor - phew - does it star Paris Hilton.
The movie also only has one scene of nudity, in which an appallingly artificial looking woman bares her rubbery chest-missiles. I think this scene is only available in the "unrated" version, and thus that's a version that should be avoided.
So what does this movie have? It's actually kind of funny, for one. Most jokes don't land, but it was able to raise a smile or a chuckle from me on occasion, which puts it ahead of the majority of comedies. The cast is also above average, and keeps the movie afloat. I didn't care too much about the lightweight plot, which is a farce based entirely on a serious of misunderstandings, such as a prostitute and a foreign exchange student both named Dominique and hence confused with each other, and two gossip mavens who falsely assume one of their fellow students is being beaten by her boyfriend.
Of course these misunderstandings only develop and deepen as the movie goes on, whereas they would otherwise be discovered and dismissed, but the movie continually finds some vein of comic potential. It's not as bad as it could have been, though it feels extremely light weight, with little going on aside from the above.

I have watched a fair few 'National Lampoon' movies in my time and the one thing that is guaranteed is that there are no guarantees. Some are hilarious, others make you wonder who looked at the script and thought 'let's make this movie.' The plot, such as it is, is far better suited to a sketch show. There are some funny moments, but the whole thing is essentially one long joke. This is why it would be far better on the small screen; stretching a joke for 10 to 20 minutes is hard, 90 minutes is impossible. The performances from the cast, all of whom have very little to actually do, are all OK. But to be fair to them, no one is going to shine with such poor material. See this film if you have nothing to do one afternoon and you can see it for free, as it is mildly entertaining. If you actually buy it on DVD you will be sorely disappointed as it has very little re-watch potential.

I saw this movie a couple of weeks ago and I loved it. Then I went back and saw it again and loved it even more. It is really funny!!! There is so much going on and it goes so fast that you have to see it twice to get everything. What I really like about the story is that the jokes are not just one liners or fart jokes, it was funny because of the story and what happens to the characters. Like, the part of Tony played by Edwin Hodge - he is always in the wrong place at the wrong time and gets blamed and misunderstood. I can relate to that character because that happens to me at home a lot too. I also thought Danielle Fishel and Tatyana Ali were great. It's cool watching them alot on their T.V. shows Boy Meets World and Fresh Prince and then seeing them grown up in Dorm Daze. They are so hot! Patrick Renna and the Sherminator guy are fun to watch as brothers. It's fun seeing the Sherminator have a big part. I also think that James Debello, who played Bert in Cabin Fever, and was really funny in that movie, is really funny in Dorm Daze I can't wait till I graduate this year and go live in a dorm.

When I read the cover of the Brazilian DVD "Dorm Haze", I found a funny premise in the synopsis. A French student named Dominique comes to the Billingsley University in a exchange program and her host can not welcome her since he needs to work. So he asks a gay roommate to receive her in the university dorm. Meanwhile, another student hires a call girl named Dominique to force his roommate to lose his virginity against his will. There is a misunderstanding with the "Dominiques" and the dorm goes crazy.
Unfortunately the cast is unfunny and the gags are too silly and do not work. I saw this film expecting to laugh and I did not find it funny in any moment. The Fantasy Girl in the Extra is the best part of the DVD. Last but not the least, there are many fake reviews in IMDb promoting this terrible flick. My vote is three.
Title (Brazil): "Nota 10 em Confusão" ("Grade A in Confusion")

National Lampoon's Dorm Daze is easily the worst movie I have ever seen, and I've seen the movie Kazaam. Anyone reading this who thinks this movie was good in any way, shape, or form has no idea what a good movie is, and should never watch another movie again because they are indeed so stupid.
Its hard to name everything wrong with this movie. First off, the plot is all over the place and can't follow all the multiple "misunderstandings" very well at all. The acting is awful to say the least, and the whole thing was poorly made. Any and all who worked on this movie should not be in another movie of any kid Ever Again!
It is too hard to sum up this movie in just a paragraph or two, because it is so bad, but for anyone out there reading this please DO NOT WATCH THIS MOVIE!! If you want a good movie to watch, go turn on anything else on television. Even U.S.A. has better movies than this.

jeez, when i heard this movie was a NATIONAL LAMPOONS i thought it was going to be awesome, but i really got a say it was a rather disappointment. I have seen the most movies they've made, from Christmas vacation to van wilder, and this movie is the worst movie in their name,, really bad actors and a to much intense movie. this movie is probably good to watch if you are watching it with a crowd of worked up people and the ability to laugh at it, but if you are into good comedy's like i am, i do not suggest this movie, i would much rather watch van wilder a second or third time, than to watch this movie... you have been warned.

Me and a buddy rented this movie the other day. At first look, it seemed to be another teen movie, which was also what we hoped for, being fans of simple horror and comedy.
It seems that the movie is designed to disappoint the viewer as much as possible. It quickly accelerates into something that holds a lot of potential. Unfortunately it never quite leaves the ground. We had watched it for something that seemed like 1 hour, when I finally, half-sleeping, managed to say :"Dude, this movie sucks" It was only 35 minutes actually... Dude agreed.
The problem is: the movie is simply not funny. It was undoubtedly supposed to be funny, but it failed. It failed in a way that made me sad. It kind of reminds me of myself. I had the potential to be anything I wanted, and instead i ended up watching cheap horror/funny movies all the time. I pity the makers of this movie from the bottom of my heart. Its so sad. All that potential.. and nothing.

I love movies in this genre. Beautiful girls, toilet humor, gratuitous nudity. So why didn't I like this movie? No movie like this should add even the slightest confusion to the plot. Who's who, where is the money, it's not SE7EN, just make me laugh. Maybe it's me, but i never felt this frustrated watching American Pie movies or any other more modern National Lampoon's movies. This movie has no flow that keeps me smiling, waiting for what's next. Instead, I find myself stopping to think, "Why did they keep that scene?" I do not recommend this movie. If you are expecting Van Wilder, think again. The only fun I had watching this movie was guessing what movies the actors were in when they were kids. 2/10 generously.

You never know what you are gonna get when you watch a national lampoon's movie lately. This is one of the better ones I've seen, of the newer batch. It's no Van wilder, but it has it's own qualities. The story is really neat, and written with some fun depth.... it's still just a comedy, don't expect rocket science, but do expect to be surprised by the original trademark touch that dorm daze brings to the table. You will probably recognize a few of the faces as well, which is nice, Nobody too over the top famous and it works just fine like this. great little find. check it out.

This has to be one of the biggest misfires ever...the script was nice and could have ended a lot better.the actors should have played better and maybe then i would have given this movie a slightly better grade. maybe Hollywood should remake this movie with some little better actors and better director.sorry guys for disappointment but the movie is bad.
If i had to re-watch it it would be like torture. I don't want to spoil everyone's opinion with mine so..my advice is watch the movie first..see if u like it and after vote(do not vote before you watch it ! ) and by the way... Have fun watching it ! Don't just peek...watch it 'till the end :))))))))) !!

Believe it or not, "Dorm Daze" is for fans of AMC, not MTV.
I watched this movie because Patrick Renna was in it, and he's always been funny. But I was expecting a really terrible "American Pie" clone, and I was pleasantly surprised. This is not a typical "college" movie. It's nothing like Animal House, Old School, or Van Wilder. "Dorm Daze" is an homage to old-style comedy, in the manner of Laurel & Hardy or the East Side Kids -- comedy that the audiences of most modern college movies have never heard of. So I see why it was given terrible reviews by most. But if you appreciate the black-and-white stuff, you'll like this. I was very pleasantly surprised.
There were a lot of things I liked about this movie, but here's an unusual one: Even though I was watching the "unrated" version, and many of the characters are indeed rather sexually motivated, this was certainly not as in-your-face sexual as most college comedies are. Most of the comedy is found in chase scenes, mistaken identity, people getting thrown out of windows, and the like. That was a plus.
On the downside, there are no really memorable lines. While the early scenes between Patrick Renna and Chris Owen seemed a little forced, the overall dialog wasn't bad (well, in the age of Star Wars prequels I think we've all learned that good dialog is optional). Still, there certainly was no "Honey, you think KFC's still open?" or "Fat, drunk, and stupid is no way to go through life." But maybe that's not a bad thing. There are too many movies out there that seem to only stay afloat because they're quotable -- "Zoolander" comes to mind.
I did have one real problem with this movie. There was no cross-dressing! What's a slapstick without a guy in a dress?
Rating: 6.5 out of 10, but I'm leaving it with a 7 because the unexpected watchability of this movie convinced me to round up.

Look at the all the positive user comments of this movie, then check to see how often each one posts user comments. They post once. It seems companies are probably paying for services which post junk pro-movie comments on IMDb.
This movie was awful. The plot was stupid. The acting was poor. The jokes weren't even funny. The movie included minor nudity from what looked like porn actresses but none of the other characters.
It was clear from the first 15 minutes that movie wasn't funny. There was some slapstick here and there but most of humor was supposed to be derived from the characters talking behind each other's back and spreading rumors. This isn't even done well. Every joke is obvious and you see it coming.
The movie is worthy of fast forwarding or better yet not watching.
I regret watching this movie and if I could charge the studio and distributor for 1.5 hrs they stole from me I would.

This is the first movie I have ever went to that I seriously considered walking out of. I had high expectations from this film. A group of college kids in a dorm by National Lampoon. I'm thinking Animal House and Van Wilder. Turns out it should be in the dog house. The movie is just not funny. The directors tried to throw in some gratuitous nudity to spice up the movie, but all it did was make you have a sense of pity. It was like the only reason to see this movie was the 3 combined seconds of nudity. While the idea behind the movie had potential, I would rather go to the dentist than sit through this again.

A stupid teen supposed comedy that revolves a serious of misunderstanding including (but not limited to) a hooker being confused with a foreign exchange student, girlfriend beating, a girl loving a gay guy, and the straight guy that loves her, and bitchy gossipers. None of the following is funny or even amusing. Nation Lampoon's use to be hilarious back in the day. Now the name is sadly synonymous with crap. And this one is NO exception. I use to think Topenga was kinda cute when she was on "Boy Meets World", but it seems she let herself go (and yes I know she has a name, but into she does ANYthing else worthwhile, she'll stay as Topenga)
My Grade: D
Eye Candy: Kati Lohmann gets topless; Boti Bliss relies on a body double (BOOOOO!!!)

This movie actually hurts to watch. Not only did I not laugh once, I ended up getting a serious headache. At times, I felt so sorry for the actors involved. The best way to sum it up is to note that among sex comedies, it is probably the least funny and least sexy of all time. I'm only sorry I can't give it a vote of less than one. To give this a rating of one is an insult to every movie that scores two or better.
Now I see that they're filming a sequel. Hearing that someone is actually paying these people to make another movie convinces me that there's just too much money in Hollywood. RAISE THEIR TAXES!!! Making a sequel to this movie may very well constitute a crime against humanity; perhaps an international tribunal should be convened, or U.N. sanctions applied to the filmmakers.
In short, it's a really bad movie. Really, really.

Let me first say that the name National Lampoon tends to send me running, screaming in the opposite direction. What was once a title that would give us comedy such as Animal House and the early installments in the Vacation series is now reduced to Van Wilder, Barley Legal, and Pledge This. So When I fired up the DVD player to watch Dorm Daze I thought I was getting into more of the same. However I can say that I was thrilled to find myself actually laughing out loud on several occasions during the movie. The story of Dorm Daze all takes place in about six hours when a bag of money gets mistakenly mailed to a girl in the dorm. Also a hooker and a foreign exchange student both named Dominique come to the dorm for different reasons. What ensues is a process of mistaken identity and mayhem as everyone in the dorm tries to get their hands on the money. In a series of way to convenient coincidences things get more and more out of hand as more and more people are involved in the chase. In a way Dorm Daze is like a throwback to the old madcap comedies such as What's Up Doc and It's a Mad Mad Mad Mad World. It's hard to follow but its still fun to sit back and enjoy the ride. It's nice to see National Lampoon have one last decent movie to show what can happen when the actually try.

This movie can best be described as a very long episode of a very bad sitcom. How many vaguely humorous misunderstandings can you cram into just one movie? Notes are misplaced, bags are switched, conversations are misheard, people get mixed up, situations are misinterpreted, and somewhere along the line people are supposed to laugh about something. The writers are really struggling to keep everything going, which makes the dialogues feel really forced. If anyone in this movie acted like a real person all this would be resolved in around two minutes or so and everyone could go back to their lives, but they have to keep the misunderstandings going. At times this movie also tries to go for some juvenile laughs, but all those do is remember you about how funny "American Pie" was. The scene with the nerd telling the hooker (who he thinks is a foreign exchange student) to "eat his sausage" goes on forever, not one second of it is funny. I've got to give this movie some credit though: because of the subplot about stolen money, it's not as boring as it could have been. It also has a laugh here and there, but then sadly goes back to yet another character misunderstanding stuff. Overall this movie is just way too lame.

One may imagine prior to viewing a National Lampoon's film what to expect. Gross out humor, nudity, sexual misunderstandings, and so on. 'Dorm Daze' has all of this, and so much more. Written(By Minnesota natives Patrick Casey and Worm Miller)in the style of a Shakespearen Farce, the jokes of the movie are primarily set up by misunderstandings amoungst a cast of college freshman. It is the day before Christmas break at Billingsly University, and with the RA on vacation, some of the students decide to indulge themselves in some otherwise inappropriate personal endeavours. The Character Stiles(Patrick Renna), orders a prostitute for his virgin brother Booker(Chris Owens), while at the same time a new foreign exchange student with the same name is scheduled to show up. As one could imagine, misunderstandings lead to wackiness, and wackiness leads to ridiculous hilarity. Standout performances by Patrick Renna, Tony Denman, Danielle Fischelle, Tatiyana Ali, and Boti Bliss(as the prostitute), make this film well worth seeing time and time again.
Some other critics have not been as pleased by this cornacopia of laughs as this critic. Why you may ask? Because other critics are stupid, and they obviously don't understand the concept of a farce. If you as a viewer laughed at 'Animal House', 'American Pie', or 'Van Wilder', then 'Dorm Daze' is your movie, and in my opinion the best of its kind since possibly 'Animal House' (Which most critics didn't like at the time either, morons). In fact the only problems i had with the movie were some post production flaws that didn't fit with the rest of the comedic mood. An undernourished and weak soundtrack, and some 'Zach Morris' looks straight out of 'Saved by the Bell' were the few problems this critic had, although they took nothing away from the ingenious dialouge and hilarious performances that the film embodies. If you haven't seen 'Dorm Daze' yet, make sure to do it after having gone to the bathroom, to make sure you don't pee yourself when you laugh your ass off. Movies this funny are a few and far between.

I was bored. I randomly started watching this movie on Showtime, and didn't know anything about it. After I finished watching, I was interested enough to figure out what the name of the movie was. Despite having only one actor that I recognized (the girl from Boy Meets World), I was actually rather impressed by this movie.
First though, the negative. This movie is incredibly sophomoric. Most people who would be minimally entertained by an Animal House, for instance, would probably not be entertained at all by this movie. There are random T & A sightings, and much of the dialog is rather stilted.
However, I was still entertained. The reason for this was the all-out farcical nature of the movie. This has just as many cases of mistaken identity, quick entrances & exits (often accompanied by the requisite slamming of doors) and rather intricate set of circumstances as any traditional farce type of comedy. It is clear to me that the creators of this movie (whatever deficiencies in talent they may have had), certainly had a fine appreciation of the merits of a manic, fast-paced farce. And that is ultimately the saving grace of this movie.
By no means am I recommending this movie if the viewer has to spend any money to view it. But if it happens to be on Showtime, and you're bored, this movie is not a bad way to alleviate your boredom.

When i went to the video rental shop to get a movie i saw this one and i immediately thought it would be funny. The picture made it seem like a classic comedy type involving teenagers (such as road trip)which i thought would be worth watching. When i turned the move on i was disappointed as the jokes were awful and cheesy. The only bit which the director may have thought would be funny was somebody slipping over on a wet floor. This is not a joke and would not make people laugh. I actually considered turning this movie off coming to half way through. I was annoyed with this movie as it was just a waste of time and money renting it out. Not enough care was taken making this film and not enough time and work put into it. I found the acting to be quite bad as well. The only time i laughed was at the extremely bad 'jokes'or actions done which were really not funny!!!. I rate this film a 1/10. I hope you found this comment useful.
