Get the CDs

The BBC were absolute idiots with their messing with the scheduling of this excellent program - I was absolutely infuriated by it, not least because it was originally moved and replaced with repeats of Only Fools and bloody Horses. This was during the tenure of Lorraine Heggessey, who's other dubious decisions included recruiting Graham Norton to the BBC.

The good news is that the CDs of the Radio 4 broadcasts make great listening and perhaps even benefit from better comic timing than the TV series managed. The radio series retains the same cast as the television production.

I also seriously recommend Andy Hamilton's other Radio 4 series, Old Harry's Game, also available on CD and well worth owning. The man is a comic genius.

No TV

Discovered this gem on radio and then backtracked and watched the TV series online. Hugely entertaining all-round and with a great cast.

No surprise the BBC buggered this show up; they've been heading for the intellectual toilet for decades. I'm surprised they've not taken up 'Monkey Tennis'.

Dave Podmore should have been televised too, but he is much too un-pc.

Where has this gone?

Whatever happened to this? I only saw 2 or 3 episodes then BBC Started moving it all around the schedules and was never to be seen again. Did it come to a premature end? What I saw of it I loved. It wasn't a laugh-a-minute programme but however it was very imaginative, entertaining and well-made. Neil Pearson was great in it as he so often is (see Drop the Dead Donkey) and there were some good cameos. Trevor's World of Sport will go down in the archives as a forgotten hero. A must see for sports fans and non sports fans and just those who enjoy good television compared to the prime time pap on British television.

This is where it went

To answer the previous person, Trevor's World of Sport was cancelled after just one run.

It suffered very badly indeed from its scheduling. That's an easy thing to say but in this case the show was preceded by Eyes Down, an especially poor Paul O'Grady bingo comedy. After a couple of episodes, Trevor's World was pulled and then a fortnight or so later it resurfaced in a late night Monday slot where ratings would never trouble it.

As a result, creator Andy Hamilton said at the time that he would never work for BBC1 again but there has been a change at the top since so hopefully he will reconsider.

And one good piece of news is that Trevor's World of Sport got a further lease of life with a new run of episodes that aired on BBC Radio 4. Mind you, one startling piece of news is that having canned Trevor's World, BBC1 recommissioned Eyes Down for a second series.
