amazing story..ahead of its time

At a time when the subject was 'conservation' not ecology, and the world was captured in the 11 o'clock news on three networks, this story tells a a future so dark, so dim, and so crowded it boggled the imagination.

The surprising part was it played one evening on network TV, Tuesday night at the movies, if I remember correctly, and then disappeared, as is squashed behind the crate that holds the arc of the covenant in Indian Jones's Raiders. Would love to get a copy of this...a story that stuck with me for years. If any one has a suggestion on how to find it I would like to hear from you. Dollit at verizon dot net.

A scary story of a possible future

I saw this when I was a kid in the 60s and remember it to this day, especially the surprise ending. I would love to get a copy of this on DVD. I was told that this was a tv movie version of an hour anthology show episode called "The People Trap" which the Paley Center in New York City has a copy of but can only be viewed there. It is a race set in the future for the last 100 acres of land to be parceled out to the winners in 1 acre segments. The main character Stewart Whitman is in the race as his wife is pregnant and you need a permit for children, but unfortunately they do not have. If he wins the race she can have the baby. He has to "mountain climb" over immense apartment buildings, and other obstacles to finish to be able to get one of the acres. It is a testament to the dangers of overpopulation.
