With this movie, Lito Lapid and Dante Rivero became the second actors to portray iconic historical figures Lapu-Lapu and Magellan respectively in a serious film about the very first Filipino hero, Lapu-Lapu.
Dante Rivero was already on his mid-fifties when he played the role of Ferdinand Magellan. On the contrary, according to historical accounts, the real Magellan was about only 40 - 41 years old by the time he reached Cebu and met his untimely death there.
Though the film includes a scene on about Lapu-Lapu's death, in reality, up to this moment, historians are still ambiguous about Lapu-Lapu's life after the Battle of Mactan. According to a popular myth, Lapu-Lapu was turned into a stone mountain and is still guarding Mactan while some ancient accounts says that after restoring friendly relations with Rajah Humabon, years after he went to Borneo together with his family and men.
Lito Lapid, the actor who played Lapu-Lapu was born in the year 1955 which is also the year in which the first film about the iconic hero, Lapu-Lapu (1955) was released.
