This week the goobs at Splathouse watched Halloween: The Curse Of Michael Myers (1995) and just barely survived! Pervy Paul (Don’t Call Me Stephen) Rudd, culty runes/ruins/ruse, miraculous household appliances, and the lack of any coherency: This movie has it all!

It’s safe to say that Sunday’s One Love Manchester benefit concert was a rousing success. Helmed by a tearful Ariana Grande, the crowd and the world watched as top acts performed sincere tributes in honor of the victims of the May 22 suicide bombing in Manchester, raising more than $9 million for the British Red Cross.

But one touching moment went viral that had nothing to do with one of the many A-listers who headlined the show.

Meet Luther Wainwright, the new boss. Does anyone know what happened to Hightower after the season finale? I don't think they've mentioned he or did I miss something? With Wainwright taking over I'd like to know what happened to Madeline because I really grew to like her.

Wainwright is a bit of an odd duck, but he may turn out to be an interesting foil for Jane. I'm not sure if he admires or fears Jane. Possibly both. He seems to appreciate Jane's input until that final scene where he declares him a clinical psychopath. Perhaps that's not the best sign of things to come.

We can't arrest an offender before he's offended.

It's better than after, don't you think?

The Mentalist will take a page from Person of Interest, its Thursday night counterpart on CBS, next week, as evidenced by the exchange above. On "Ring Around the Rosie," Jane will notice a suspicious looking man at a political rally and set out to prove that he's a psychopath on the verge of murder.

It's more than likely that a few time-honored cliches of the idiom will be conjured up again to give us a fright. You'd think the characters in these films would know the symptoms by now. But for those who still have trouble reading the ghost signs, here are nine warnings that should tell you not to bother unpacking.

It was recently reported that Universal Pictures was in development on a reboot of Joe Johnston's "The Wolfman" and has hired Michael Tabb (Ring Around the Rosie) to write the script for a stand-alone picture. Moviehole has now learned that the new movie, called "Werewolf," has hired Louis Morneau to direct. Morneau's previous credits include "Joy Ride 2: Dead Ahead," "The Hitcher II: I've Been Waiting" and "Bats." Judging by those credits, it's clear that the studio is not planning to release the film in theaters. Instead, it will go straight to DVD, like most of the other projects Morneau has been involved with.

At this point it seems like most people agree that Joe Johnston's 2009 remake of The Wolfman was, at best, a massive letdown, if not an unmitigated disaster. The movie didn't even make back its $150 million budget, and yet, for some inexplicable reason Universal has actually been contemplating a sequel up until now. While the original project had a lot of potential, something tells me there wouldn't be much enthusiasm for a continuation, even with Benicio del Toro on board. In this case, it was probably going to be a direct-to-dvd feature anyway. The good news is, the proposed sequel now appears to be dead. The bad news is they've decided on another all too common route: reboot The Wolfman and start all over again! According to Moviehole [1], a script for a Wolfman sequel was in the process of being written by Michael Tabb, who also previously wrote the Tom Sizemore...

In March, we told you Universal was developing a sequel to The Wolfman for its home video division. At the time, the studio was seeking writers. Moviehole provided an update today. Michael Tabb apparently had a script for Universal, yet Moviehole says his draft is being reworked, veering away from a sequel and becoming more of a reboot that will be more in common with George Waggner's 1941 film. Tabb, according to his IMDb page, wrote the original draft of Troy and penned Ring Around the Rosie (2006). So, we have to watch Larry Talbot struggle with lycanthropy for the first time again ? Honestly, why not just do a straight-up sequel if you're going to put money into doing a period piece again? It's better than re-hashing the same story. Filming is expected to...

Moviehole has now learned that the script is being re-written to be an original film that will share a link to the original 1941 film. The new movie is currently being called "Werewolf" and is set to begin filming this fall. Universal is speaking to directors and will begin casting shortly.

We’re gonna need a bigger silver bullet to put this Universal monster down! After all the pre-production trials & tribulations, the eventual critical slamming and audience apathy that greeted the rebirth of the furry fiend on his last last outing (hell even director Joe Johnston didn’t like the movie), Universal are setting up an unlikely sequel to The Wolfman.

It would seem despite the $61 million domestic take for a movie budgeted at $150 million (!!) the dog barked louder at home with cracking dvd sales so, according to an insider speaking to Bloody Disgusting, Universal are convinced The Wolfman will howl again, albeit in a direct to disc sequel and they have hired writer Michael Tabb (Fear Itself: Dark Memories…no…me neither) to pen the screenplay.

We say ‘sequel’ but you can pretty much expect the new approach for the home video market to contain plenty more blood, gore, t & a and fur,...

According to Bloody-Disgusting, the folks at Universal Pictures are in discussions to have Michael Tabb (Ring Around The Rosie) pen the screenplay for a full sequel to The Wolfman. This too will be a straight to home video release but is much better news than a complete remake of a movie barely 2 years old.

The site has now learned that Universal is already in talks with Michael Tabb to write the script for the new installment, which will be a direct sequel to Joe Johnston's "The Wolfman." We don't know much about Tabb, except that he wrote the script for "Ring Around The Rosie," a horror film that went straight to DVD back in 2006. It's no wonder that Universal isn't interested in developing "The Wolfman" sequel for the big screen. The 2010 film grossed only $140 million globally on a $150 million budget. And has a lousy 33% fresh rating on RottenTomatoes.

The other day we reported that Universal is optioning to make a new film based on the classic 1941 film The Wolfman (here). Nothing was known about the new film other than it was possibly a reboot, and that it would be Dtv. Bloody-Disgusting is now hearing the film will in fact be a sequel, and that Michael Tabb (Ring Around The Rosie) will be writing the script. The film is still slated to hit Dtv as Universal has been doing recently with Death Race 2 and Scorpion King 3. Joe Johnston’s remake wasn’t received well, but the make-up artists did an outstanding job with the look, and hopefully they can return for this new film.

Michael Noonan, gameplay engineer on Visceral Games' "Dead Space 2," has crafted a trailer for the multi-million dollar project with "Minecraft," the open world indie game produced on a shoestring budget.

The result: spooky.

Noonan spoke with Kotaku about his approach: "I didn't want to copy any 'Dead Space' trailers, most of them show off the monsters which I just can't do in 'MineCraft,' but it was definitely inspired by the Twinkle Twinkle and Ring Around the Rosie trailers."

"Minecraft" handles blocky architecture swimmingly. Noonan's decision to focus the trailer on the frightening Marker, the monolithic statue at the center of "Dead Space 2"s story delivers with its eery, rigid, ominous mood.

Now if we could just see some of that "Minecraft" creativity in more big budget games.

John Polson is poised to direct Robert De Niro in Hide & Seek at 20th Century Fox. Polson replaces Albert Hughes, who originally was attached to direct. The project is a psychological thriller about a man (De Niro) who suspects that his young daughter has come up with an unexpected and terrifying way to deal with her mother's death. Barry Josephson is producing from a script by Ari Schlossberg. At the studio, the project is being overseen by Peter Kang, who brought the project in when he was an executive in the Fox 2000 division. He's now based in Hutch Parker's TCF division. Polson is repped by Endeavor. The project reteams him with Fox, for whom he directed the teen thriller Swimfan. Polson also is attached to direct Deal at Franchise Pictures and Fear Itself, a remake of Sam Peckinpah's Straw Dogs, at Miramax Films.
