How did they mess this up?

As a child the invasion angle seemed sooo cool. When you get older you notice the flaws that lead to this terrible match.

    • it was wwe vs mid carders with a few big wrasslers

    • They could have made a more compelling story. the story we got was good for children. Which is why i liked it then and hate it now

    • Too many traitors. Kurt Angle turning on the wwe at SS was so stupid. Why? What was his motive?

    • Why did we have to have a terrible ending? Kurt Angle turning on the alliance was weak. A clean finish would make more sense.

    • the invasion angle only lasted 5 months. I thought it lasted over a year.

    • Should have kept dubya c dubya or at least nitro alive. Like other companies do when they buy companies. The format kind of stays the same despite being bought out. But they decided to kill a great show.

    • Dubya c dubya wrasslers became jobbers or were released. Guys like kidman were awesome in dubya c dubya then in wwe he sucked. DDP, Even Goldberg falls into that category and etc.

    • the match had so many botches that people are blind too. It was an awful match for an awful story line.

Verdict: Triple H was injured during the feud. That's 1 point. He would have made it worse.

    bulls**t

    WWF Survivor Series 2001

This was among the worst events of 2001. Perhaps its biggest flaw was the fact that it didn't follow suit to most of the previous Survivor Series'. There was only ONE survivor series match. And that Survivor Series match went on for 45 minutes. What's more, anyone with a working brain would know that it would end with The Rock versus Austin and The Rock prevailing for his team. And don't get me started on the preview before the event. No matter who won it was obvious that no one was going to f***ing die. There was no need for all of that pointless hype. Whatever the storyline, it was just a wrestling event.

And as for the rest of the matches: the first match was Christian defending his European title against Al Snow. It was a good fast paced match and its good to see a heel winning a match fairly. William Regal versus Tajiri was boring and we've seen it 2 or 3 times before. Edge versus Test was good but nothing great. The tag titles steel cage match was the best match of the evening. The battle Royal went on for 10 minutes and no one really cared who'd win in the first place. The Women's title match wasn't great. No, not in the slightest. The main event must have been the most hypocritical match in history. The Alliance lost but guess what, after 5 months every single Alliance superstar returned. The match itself was poor. The Rock eliminated 3 of them and Jericho eliminated 2. The Rock was too caught up with his acting to be there when the invasion began. Jericho was the one that jeopardised the whole match. If I wanted any 2 to be eliminated in the early going it would be them. Everyone knew that Kane, Big Show and Undertaker were just fall guys. 7 matches isn't enough for a Survivor Series. If there's ever a Survivor Series as bad as this again I'll

    Great end to the invasion

European championship Christian vs Al Snow

Christian, even at this stage of his career, is one of the best in the business and it's a shame he never really received a main event push but this is some of his best work and gives a great match against Snow. 7/10

    William Regal vs Tajiri

Average match with reasonable build up, Regal is a great mic worker. 6/10

Intercontinental and U.S unification match – Test vs Edge

Great match with twists turns, big boots, spears and Edge again showing why he is now a main event superstar. 8/10

Steel cage unification match WCW vs WWF tag titles – The Dudley Boys vs The Hardys

Great match involving two great tag teams and there is one reason this is memorable and that reason is Jeff Hardy. What a nutter, but by what a reason to watch. 9/10

    22 immunity battle royal

Considering this has 22 wrestlers in it is over in such a short space of time, probably cause commentator Paul Hayman is moaning about Tazz. Eventual winner is hardly surprising

Women's championship – Trish vs Jacqueline vs Lita vs Mighty Molly vs Jazz vs Ivory

One of the better women wrestling matches from this period and a good deserving ending to the eventual winner

Winner take all traditional survivor series match

Shane McMahon, Booker T, RVD, Stone Cold, Angle vs Kane, Y2J, Rock, Undertaker, Big Show

Great match that brought an end to the Invasion story that could not have had a better send off. Up and down, twists and turns, controversies an ace in the hole this elimination match had everything but the kitchen sink. Jericho's finishing move here is silly and Shane is annoying but otherwise what an ending to a very good PPV

    Great but Predictable

This whole PPV was full of great wrestling, aside from the womens match. I loved the Immunity Battle Royal, but Test shouldn't have won, I would have liked to see Tommy Dreamer, Lance Storm, Justin Credible, Hurricane, or DDP win. But anyway, Christian vs Al Snow was a great match, and Al should be on TV much more often. The Winner Take All Match of Survival was great. I think everyone knew WWF would win over WCW/ECW, but thats not the point. I mean, with talent like RVD, Kane, Jericho, Booker T, and Angle in one match, how could WWF even screw it up? Well they didnt, and Undertaker brought back the Tombstone Piledriver and delivered it to Shane McMahon. Poor Shane, he got every finisher from team WWF. Oh well, I still cant wait for Royal Rumble 2001 :)

    Which McMahon will survivor

Only one survivor series style match this year. With battle royals cage matches and lots of titles on the line. This is a good show. The survivor match is for the future of wrestling as the McMahons send out there teams for the right to survivor. This is an enjoyable match filled with Hall of fame stars but only one federation can survive the night.

On commentary, Jim Ross states that Undertaker made his Survivor Series debut in 1990 (which is correct), but then states that Undertaker defeated Hulk Hogan for the WWF title in his Survivor Series debut, which is incorrect. Undertaker defeated Hogan for the WWF title at the 1991 Survivor Series.
