Charlie Day auditioned to play Corey's best friend, Roger. He and Glenn Howerton first got to know each other on the car ride back from their auditions, and they later worked together to create Siempre hay sol en Filadelfia (2005).
Because of this series, Glenn Howerton was able to afford the Panasonic DVX100A digital camera that he, Charlie Day, and Rob Mac used to film the home movies that inspired Siempre hay sol en Filadelfia (2005).
Part of Brittany Daniel's audition included a guest spot on That '70s Show (1998). The episode in which she guest-starred, Eric's Hot Cousin (2002), aired the night before this show debuted.
On That '70s Show (1998), Terry Hughes directed the pilot episode while David Trainer directed all the the rest. In this series, Trainer directed the pilot while Hughes directed all the rest.
When That '70s Show (1998) was renewed for a third and fourth season in 1999, there was speculation that it would eventually reach the 1980s, and thus be renamed "That '80s Show." Co-creator Mark Brazill joked "Then we'll have to change the name... I don't think anyone would hold it against us." Danny Masterson said "I don't know about That '80s Show. I don't think I like that name." Ultimately, the series ran for eight years but only took place over three, from 1976 to 1979.
