This show is one of the best things on British TV at the present time. It is so full of spunky charisma, laughs, fun and wit that it never fails to cheer me up after a long hard day. Watching the show instantly tells you that all the people involved are having a great time making it. The show is basically a review of console-based video games. I don't own a console, don't play games on my PC anymore, and have little or no interest in the whole caboodle. Does that stop me from staying up till the small hours and tuning in? No Siree Bob! I shall continue staying up late, continue watching, continue laughing, and continue not owning a console, for as long as Bits is on the air; and when the day comes that it gets discontinued, I will be a sad man.
Sharp, fresh and highly entertaining, Bits burst onto the 4later strand on English Channel 4 in 1999. Fronted by 3 women, its remit is to review the best (and worst) of the new crop of games each week on all platforms, from PC to Dreamcast. In 2000 a change of Presenters brought Emily Booth (a small cult in her own right after starring in such B movies as 'Pervirella') provided a more balanced and focused show that has been improving ever since. Due to its time slot, unusual review style (its unusual for a show to go by without them murdering each other horribly atleast once), production values (non existant) and the charisma of the presenters the show has developed into something of a cult. Already in its 5th series after 3 years, Bits is one of the best programs on British TV today, monumentally better than most of the stuff broadcast primetime by the major networks and long may it remain so.
This show in my opinion was great, and i for one sadly miss it. Its real shame Thumb Bandits never re-appeared on our TV in late 2003. Though i still hold out hope that a TV station (BBC 1,2 ITV, CH4 or even FIVE) will bring a show like this back around very soon to appear back on our TVs. Over the years that this show was on it was full of laughs and brilliantly made, rather than all serious it was just a chill out show and nothing more, basically all fun smiles which you don't find anymore, another example of this would be the great Adam & Joe show that was awesome and the 11 O'Clock Show was awesome to, though today in the world of TV you find all boring shows and nothing original nor even like anything we had its all gone rubbish and they wonder why people don't watch now. Anyroad i really hope something gets done and the TV stations wake up and maybe more can be done to bring back this kinda of entertainment in the future :D
This show had it all and still to this day nothing has taken its place.
It had everything that a game user like me wanted! Reviews, funny moments, goofy girls, Fit girls.... What else does a guy staying up till 11pm want? Oh and Emily Booth! Before this there was Games Master which was a great show! But it missed the girls... Now it would be easy to stick some big boob girls and get them to talk about games... But it would fail because they would not look like they wanted to be there, and they would not look like they know what there talking about.... But Bitz was different! the did look like they were up for some fun! They looked like they did play these games.
The reason i made this comment was because i just turned on FTN and Emily was on there... I miss the show so much even though its been years since i last saw it.... And i am older and do not play the games... But as one person above me said its not about the games its about a great show! And the girls put that on! So thanks girls! if you ever get the chance come back!!! |Lee Doyle

This is a great show. It had it all. It was funny, crazy, serious, very informative. Treated gamers like people, enshrined itself with games, news, gameplay and more. You felt like the hosts were on your level, they wanted to be the same as you. They made you feel like you have someone with the same interests. They were relatable. And it was 3 young women which was very rare in late 99-2001 tv. It felt relevant and there has been nothing like this released since on any viewing platform.
I watched this back when it was new and have revisited many episodes on social media making me laugh as much as I did when I was younger in my mid 20s. I was in college at the time and this spoke directly to me. Between difficult things going on at the time and my mental state, this was the perfect antidote and wish it had gone on longer. This gets my 10/10 because it was fresh, funny and spoke to the audience intended. I wish the presenters were still together, their chemistry was dynamite.
