A great story full of absurd comedy details and memes. Great performance from Sener Sen as usual. Hidden gems in the sentences. Criticism of Turkish cinema in a very fun way! Must watch movie.
This film makes fun of the arabesque culture and familiar cliché events in old Turkish films. Sener Sen, Mujde Ar, and Ugur Yucel are magnificent in terms of acting in this film. If you are familiar with old Turkish movies, you can guess most part of the plot. However, it does not prevent you from having fun while watching this movie, on the contrary, it makes you enjoy it even more. Every cliché event is watched without getting bored since they happen very quickly and the film moves on to other events quickly. Also, the movie is musically successful. My favorite music part is Olsun Hala Umidim Var by Sener Sen.
In the final film before his death, Ertem Egilmez makes a perfect ending to his glorious career with this world class movie. The movie is an absurd comedy classic, nearly in the style of "Airplane!" and ZAZ movies, makes great fun of "Arabesk" culture. Sener Sen plays the lead role alongside of Mujde Ar who try to meet but cannot because of several funny tragedies. There are lots of humorous tragedies in the film just like in the old Turkish movies. Ugur Yucel's "Marlon Brando" impersonation is worth seeing, too. I recommend tihs film to everyone wtith some knowledge about old Turkish cinema and good sense of humor.
This movie is a mockery of everything the word 'arabesque' standed for during 80s. As the 'arabesque' period is fortunately over, the themes made fun of in the movie gets boring and you find yourself desperately craving for the end but there comes another theme to mock. I find it a success though to be able to pull legs like this by making fun of the themes that were used a lot in the period. Even so, I think this one is extremely overrated among Sener Sen's movies being rated higher than The Bully.
If you can catch this comedy style you will be different person rest your life. My comedy life changed with this movie.
