Oh man, first off I am embarrassed for Jason Dohring for his role in this movie! His character is super cheesy. Like so many Disney movies, it starts off fine and then goes off the deep end. It can't just be a movie about a girl who wants to be a jockey and is especially talented at it, it has to turn into a talking horse movie. Everything was super predictable, the acting was mediocre, and the subject matter to me was just kind of boring to me. Also, even by 2001 standards, $5 seems way too low for a day working with horses. I am trying to think of something nice to say about the movie, but it was just meh. Not terrible, but not good.
This was a great movie... Sure, it was slightly weird... "Girl talks to horses", but it was well done, and worked out very well. In my book, it was a great movie, and had good acting by the whole cast, and especially our two leading actors. (Krissy Perez, and Jason Dohring)
Before Seabiscuit, there was the talking horse- no not Mr. Ed- TJ from Ready to Run. It had to be my favorite horse racing movie besides National Velvet. But Disney channel has stopped showing it alot so I haven't seen it in awhile. But I see it on Derby day. This was a fantastic movie and perfect for the horse lover. Though the talking horse and listening to the music while racing was not that creative. It has great music, kinda strange for a horseracing movie, and pretty horses! I give this movie: 8 out of 10
A 14-year-old girl who works at a racetrack trains a troubled talking racehorse, turning him into a winner. Despite her mother's disapproval, a girl (Krissy Perez) whose father died in a horse racing accident wants to be a jockey.
I've been marathoning Disney jealousy from the 2000s and this was one of the nicest ones I've seen, it doesn't escape the cliché of so many others, in the "Afternoon Session" style with a happy ending and a cute little message, but it captivated me enormously, despite being totally It's unnecessary for the horse to "talk", literally, or maybe that's exactly what gave the enchanted and exciting touch to the pretty little drama...

I have seen nearly all the Disney Channel Original Movies, and this one has to be my favorite! Good acting, great music, and the element of animals all combine, turning "Ready to Run" into a great movie for people of all ages! In short, this movie may not have a star-studded cast, but it more than makes up for it in quality.
