Interesting story, and also a fascinating case study in micro-budget film-making. Bleak desert setting pushes the focus onto the psychological issues of the characters. Raw and artfully crafted. Great acting. Framing and pacing helps achieve a high budget feel. Tech credits are solid.
Stands out from the genre. I'm not surprised this film continues to live on via the internet and new distribution channels. With the new Fox commitment to small budget films, Twice as Dead can be looked at as ahead of its time. Look at this film and ask, what's to stop any group of filmmakers from going out and green lighting their own projects? Interesting to follow other work by the actors and production team. Recommended.

... because they take hostage the guy who supplies them with their fake passports. I saw this at a private screening last year and only hope it goes wide. Every marriage has its problems but this film really makes you look inside and ask what it's all about. Middle class, misguided fruit compotes trying to make their lives work and failing because they have no values or no spine. This felt like "Bonnie and Clyde" meets "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf." This is fast paced witty stuff. All three leads burn it up, particularly Jeff Stearns. The girl's legs go on for days and the nebbish husband made me ache. Every time I thought they couldn't sustain it on the obviously modest budget I was surprised. This is a worth see, no matter how hard you have to look.
I saw a trailer for this picture a while back and can't wait to see it screened in a theater. It looks really great, it's hilarious and the sound mix is amazing. This director had a vision that included paying close attention to the quality of the sound. Wow. There needs to be more movies like this. It signals a return to the pure fun and creativity in movie making. I only hope I can see it in 3D someday because the locations are stunning and the comedy is right in your face. I like the naughtiness in the humor and the grit of the desert was tangible in the performances. It's like one of those classic road pictures meets Kalifornia - an independently produced ensemble piece driven by something braver than a massive budget and studio execs giving superfluous notes.

I really liked this film - A funny, crazy nihilistic Camusian desert odyssey. I thought the acting was terrific and the cinematography really set the tone and supported the plot. I think it was shot in HD digital, and the crispness of the look is very modern-looking, and emphasizes the starkness of the locations. More amazing is that it was shot in Death Valley, I think, in temps well above 100 degrees. The director really makes you feel it, as the characters lives spin ever further out of control. Very, very good. Way better than other films I've seen that have similar stories. I'm actually looking forward to seeing it again, and that doesn't happen very often.
I've seen road movies like this before and they always fall apart. This started a little loose -- who are these people? what's with the bickering? -- will they please wise up -- and then instead of falling apart it comes together. The reason for the bickering starts to matter. They grow on you and grow on you and pretty soon you're laughing and looking forward with a groan to the next bonehead move. It's a movie built of "oh-no"s and that's the fun. It deals with human beings and their frailties, the damage failed dreams causes, the suicidal cement of disappointment. I saw it in screener form and don't know its availability but if it becomes available it is a strong recommend.
