Cesaro broke away from his tag team and broke out by winning the Andre the Giant Memorial Trophy. Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, and the Rock hung out in the ring and had a blast. Mr. T and Roddy Piper buried the hatchet. Daniel Bryan went through an endless supply of punishment before being defeating Triple H, Randy Orton, and Batista.

It could be argued that of all the men and women to compete at WrestleMania, it is Bret Hart’s career that is most clearly represented and showcased through the event. ‘The Excellence of Execution’ started out with the World Wrestling Federation in 1984, and over the next 13 years would rise from tag team standout to in-ring general to the overall face of the company.

His WrestleMania record mimics this. Although he missed the first WrestleMania, Hart performed at every following WrestleMania up until WrestleMania Xiv, by which time he had jumped ship to World Championship Wrestling following the infamous Montreal Screwjob. It would be over a decade before he returned to the company, which also included one last WrestleMania ‘match’, although the use of that term is fairly liberal in this example.

His WrestleMania record is also one of wildly diverging match quality, as you will find out by reading on.

This past Monday’s Raw featured one of the biggest moments of 2015, when Roman Reigns defeated Sheamus to become WWE World Heavyweight Champion. Several factors contributed to WWE’s decision to put the title on Reigns that night instead of at another event or at another location.

It was certainly a surprise, since seeing a championship title change hands on an episode of Raw is no longer a common occurrence, and it’s especially rare for that title to be the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. When fans think of breakout moments for some of the biggest superstars in WWE history, the stage in which those events take place is pay-per-view instead of WWE’s flagship show.

WWE 2K16 is less than a month away, and a post on the 2K forums has revealed the confirmed Stone Cold Steve Austin matches in 2K Showcase Austin mode.

There’s some classics in there, no doubt about that. Getting to play through Austin’s epic feud with Bret Hart that culminated at WrestleMania 13, and his unforgettable match with The Rock at WrestleMania 17, it is going to be a nostalgic rollercoaster of excitement.

But there’s also a range of classics that 2K have neglected to include. Some of the omissions are forced on 2K, as not every wrestler from the period is under a WWE contract or were available for the game. Other omissions are blatant oversights, but at least the overall quality of the Austin content looks good.

IGN has released the latest trailer for WWE 2K16, titled Raise Some Hell.

The trailer – which, uses Audioslave’s Cochise as its backing track – features almost every superstar in the game, gives us a quick run through of the Stone Cold Steve Austin mode, and also appears to show what Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Terminator entrances will look like.

One sees Arnie rising out of the staging area (almost naked but not quite), while the other sees him arrive on the scene looking like a latecomer to an Undertaker biker party circa 2001.

The other main talking point is a D-Generation X bit where both Shawn Michaels and Triple H are in the ring. This presumably as part of the Stone Cold mode when Austin took on The Heartbreak Kid at WrestleMania Xiv.

Still to this day, the WWE World Heavyweight Championship is the most prestigious title in the entire wrestling industry. Grappling enthusiasts who favour other promotions may disagree, but it’s nonetheless fair to say that WWE’s top belt is the one every professional wrestler wants to hold someday. The history of the strap is astounding, and WWE recognise title reigns right back to the 1960’s.

The current incarnation of the championship is the result of unification between the WWE Heavyweight Title and the old World Heavyweight Championship. The latter belt was similar in aesthetic to the ‘Big Gold Belt’ seen in WCW, but is actually a separate title. Formed in 2002, the title was then made defunct in December, 2013. Randy Orton’s victory over John Cena at the TLC Pay-Per-View unified the title with the WWE Title.

Kane is one of the most enduring characters currently on WWE television. The man behind the long-running character, Glenn Jacobs, has managed to consistently reinvent the persona. This has enabled Kane to last longer than every other wrestler currently in the promotion besides Triple H and The Undertaker.

The latter has played a huge role in the evolution of Kane. As a matter of fact, the character of Kane was only installed to give The Undertaker a fresh-feeling feud as the company marched towards WrestleMania Xiv. Even though the gimmick was only really earmarked for that one major program opposite ‘Taker, Jacobs has stayed far longer than that. Today, he remains on TV as part of The Authority.

Shawn Michaels has opened up about his problems with The Undertaker in 1998. Speaking with Sports Illustrated’s Extra Mustard blog to promote his upcoming book, Michaels said that The Undertaker was telling everyone backstage that he would “beat the heck” out of the Heartbreak Kid if he screwed Stone Cold Steve Austin around at WrestleMania 14.

Contrary to popular internet rumour, Michaels says that The Undertaker never actually made the threat to his face. The infamous story is that The Undertaker taped his fists and got in Michaels’ face. After what happened with Bret Hart in Montreal, The Undertaker wanted to ensure there’d be no screwiness from Michaels in regards to putting Austin over at Mania 14.

When it’s done right, WrestleMania works a lot like a Super Bowl and a season finale simultaneously: Storylines and feuds peak and get resolved that night. The next day, the characters and several elements of the previous “season” carry over, but it’s clearly a new day. New storylines and new feuds emerge.

But it’s rare that a new era emerges. Fans saw this after WrestleMania Xiv with Steve Austin winning the title, and although it’s largely been erased from history, it can be argued that Eddie and Benoit embracing in the ring at the end of ‘Mania Xx was intended to mark a new era of sorts.

However, in the span of 29 hours starting Sunday at 6 p.m. Edt, WWE didn’t just end old storylines and feuds and start new ones. It didn’t simply close out an era and begin a new one.

Tonight at WWE WrestleMania XXX the winner of the Daniel Bryan or Triple H match will become the third man in the triple threat match with Randy Orton and Batista for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Some believe Daniel Bryan will defeat Triple H and enter the Main Event match, others think Triple H will go over Daniel Bryan to fight for the championship. There’s even the third option, we get no clear cut winner, a swerve of sorts, in the Daniel Bryan vs. Triple H match and both go on, turning the match with Batista and Randy Orton into a fatal four way.

Regardless of the outcome in the Daniel Bryan vs. Triple H match, no matter if Daniel Bryan comes out of WrestleMania XXX as the WWE World Heavyweight champion or if the WWE decides to screw with the rabid Daniel Bryan fanbase yet again...

WrestleMania is fast approaching and superstars will be making plans to impress on the big stage. Everyone that makes it to the Superbowl of wrestling enters with the mission of stealing the show and leaving an impression on the viewer.

Some have made a career of it, whether it be ‘Mr WrestleMania’ Shawn Michaels and his tendency to have the best match of the night or making audiences believe in The Undertaker’s undefeated streak coming to an end or someone trying to steal the spotlight in a multiman match (such as this year’s Battle Royal), there isn’t a single performer who isn’t trying to demand attention.

There is no better way to grab the audiences attention than to do so from the moment a superstar steps through the curtain. This list takes a look back at the best WrestleMania entrances in its 29 year history.

After about a month of taking in what the WWE Network has to offer I thought we could take a look at some of the things that are worth your time on there, and even just to pick up on DVD. Every PPV event from WWE(F), WCW and Ecw is included on the on-demand section of the network, which means there is hundreds of shows and thousands of hours worth of wrestling to dig through, so I wanted to whittle it down to ten shows that I feel are worth watching, and the reasons will be highlighted too.

Let’s begin with an obvious one shall we?

As I write this we are only a couple of weeks away from the thirtieth WrestleMania event, which is being held on April 7th 2014 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The excitement for wrestling fans, and more-so, WWE fans, often reaches it’s height in the weeks leading to the so-called “showcase of the immortals” and what was once, prior to Vince McMahon feeling like it made the event sound “old”, “the grand-daddy of ‘em all”.

I started watching wrestling in 1992 and the first show I ever watched was WrestleMania 8, held at the Hoosier Dome in Indianapolis, Indiana. The show featured two spectacular matches, being Bret Hart vs. Roddy Piper and Randy Savage vs. Ric Flair. Randy Savage would remain my favourite wrestler of all time from this event on. Looking back on this event in 2014, and these matches still hold up today. Great selling, wonderful story telling, and top notch wrestling from these four men.

We are fast approaching the 30th annual WrestleMania event and it is the time of year when many wrestling fans look back on the famous event and revisit the moments that, for whatever reason, were memorable to them. Through the years there have been plenty of memorable moments at WrestleMania and dozens of wrestlers have carved themselves into the tree-bark of history with their performance on the grandest stage in professional wrestling. One of those wrestlers, of course, is the man who called himself “The Heartbreak Kid” and was labelled by fans and critics alike as “Mr WrestleMania”. That man is Shawn Michaels, and this DVD/Blu-ray package is about his legacy on WWE’s main stage.

In recent times, the WWE has been rejuvenating a tag team division that had been largely ignored or poorly booked for many years.

But the ‘Attitude Era’ was somewhat of a golden age for tag team wrestling, and I’m here to run down the Top 10 teams of that period. Teams were stars of the show just as much as some of the main event wrestlers, in all sorts of shapes, sizes and gimmicks.

The exact start and ending times of the Attitude Era are largely undefined and often the matter of opinion, but for the purposes of list, I will be looking at teams from WrestleMania Xiv in 1998 to the beginning of the Invasion angle in mid 2001.

As Triple H stated this Monday on Raw, “The Royal Rumble is the start of the road to Wrestlemania.”

There have been very few wrestlers to have walked that road quite as emphatically as The Undertaker. He is a star in every sense of the word, a great character and even better in-ring worker. Fans want to see him, anticipating his re-emergence with fervent anticipation. When will he be back? What he will be doing? Who will he be feuding against? – Just some of the questions that buzz around WWE fans yearning for The Undertaker’s return at this time of year.

A strong case can be made for The Undertaker returning this weekend at the Royal Rumble. It would make sense that his story begins now. There are other pointers that Taker could be returning this weekend – speculation which this feature will touch upon over the next 10 pages.

Hosted by Todd Pettengill, who was the face of In Your House, this eight hour collection features matches from all the top WWE stars of the 90’s, such as Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Triple H, The Rock, Kane, Diesel and many more!

With the Elimination Chamber behind us, WWE fans are now in the final leg of the famous ‘Road to WrestleMania’. As is customary the night before WrestleMania, WWE will be commemorating the latest inductees to the WWE Hall of Fame. So far, Bob Backlund, Trish Stratus, Mick Foley and Bruno Sammartino have all been announced, with the possibility of others in the next couple of weeks. But will there be any new legends added to the controversial celebrity wing of the Hall of Fame?

In case you didn’t know, WWE have an exclusive section of the Hall of Fame reserved for celebrity guests who have been involved with the organization in some capacity. Current members include:

• Pete Rose (Major League Baseball player, appeared at three consecutive WrestleManias)

• William “The Refrigerator” Perry (NFL player, competed in a battle royal at Wrestlemania 2)

WWE 13 focuses on the Attitude Era, one of the most popular and exciting times in wrestling. Every week fans tuned in to Raw in record numbers to watch how Stone Cold would annoy Vince McMahon, to hear what The Rock might say and to see how Dx would cause controversy.

There were many wonderful moments throughout that time but it also brought about some of the best wrestling that had been seen. Some of the matches were technically brilliant, others had memorable moments and some ushered in new eras.

Today new information was revealed about WWE 13 that showed that the game covered from Summerslam ’97 to WrestleMania Xv, although it does exclude a couple of PPVs. 65 matches have been confirmed for the mode so, aside from those PPVs which have not been included, here are ten matches which everyone will be eager to play.
