Yes, when it was released it was popular and a fine addition to the Cyber Punk genre; now its rightfully considered a classic yet a criminally small amount of people actually have heard of it, its one of Yoshiaki Kawajiri's little experiments, what more could you want?! Spread the word!

It depends if you like the more "tame" Japanese music or, given the nature of the material and general dystopian cyber punk atmosphere, you would prefer to hear an awesome and even more unkown metal, electronica score from Rory McFarlane. Because it has not been marketed sufficiently(until recently); when it first came out in Japan it was popular then in 1994 when it was released in the west it was popular but this was all before the rapid growth in popularity of anime in general that was to come. Cyber City seems to have just been one of those really good but really short (three episodes) animes that was forgotten about and was left by the way side, also Manga Entertainment UK lost the rights to it so in addition to Rory McFarlanes score it lost a big market. But in the last few years, because of the massive interest in anime, it has enjoyed renewed popularity but it is still, even now, relatively unkown.
