I have enjoyed this Film a lot. It was so much fun watching with all my family. I don't speak Hindi myself.. so much of it I relied on the sub-titles. It is beautifully made. Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol's brotherly relationship is the core in the movie. I guess that is how they are in real life. It shows in the movie how much effort Sunny Deol has put in to this film. Shame it didn't work at the Box Office. I have cried throughout the film, the emotional scenes aren't over done, Bobby's boyish image is well portrayed. It is so real.. you can relate to it. The music is Great especially the song "Kya ye Sach hai"..loved that song. If you want to see a beautiful simple film. GO for it.
I'm 28 and I cannot believe it took me so long to watch this movie. Loved it. Reminded me of simpler times and genuine acting. Great job, Sunny Deol- you are amazing!
This is NOT the typical action flick, but it is a fun movie to watch. Sunny and Bobby together for the first time ever made this a treat. In fact, Sunny did a great job as a first time director, which is well-deserved and commendable. There was some comedy and some good drama. Sunny as the big brother and Bobby as the brat acted very well. Although, this movie is a love story, but it was more than just that. It had many fun moments. Songs were decent, and the Punjabi style was excellent. One could have wished that Dharmendra was in the movie, but all 3 Deols are coming together in Apne this year (boxing drama), which is awesome. I wish that Sunny directs a movie later on in his career.
Two brothers at different circumstances fall for a common lady. Perhaps the plot sounds similar, and this slim story stretches for an inordinate three hours ultimately fizzling to a cliched climax. Yet the film doesn't deserve a bad review. Well the directorial debut of Sunny Deol isn't bad., which has instincts of few directorial flourishes and avoids the typical 90s gimmicks. Besides, the acting from the protagonists including the Deol brothers and Urmila Matondkar is pretty good, apart an overly done characterization of Bobby Deol. Overall, it isn't a very good film; but on the account of the gimmicky 90s movies, it's still welcome.

I thoroughly enjoyed Dillagi because all the actors are in great form, the songs and dances go perfectly with the story and is very well produced, photography and locations were top notch, and the story is interesting. My problem was the drawn out climax and anti-climax which went on way too long and was somewhat predictable.
I also had a major problem with the Eros DVD which was very skimpy on the sub-titles, almost to say that, if you don't know Hindi, that's your tough luck. It appears as if subtitles were used when someone felt the viewer had a need to know because there were several extended spots where no subtitles were available at all. None of the songs had subtitles which really hurt since, when you view the Making of Dillagi, Sunny Deol kept saying how all the songs were integral to the film in that they moved the storyline along.
Despite my reservations, I waver between a 7 and 8 because the overall production was so well done, especially the great songs -- 10 -- which all had great locations and choreography.

- TriviaSunny Deol got the idea for the film when Bobby Deol came home drunk one night.
- ErroresShalini is earlier shown as doing her graduation and has just entered college and is in her first year. Some days later Ranveer bumps into her and she tells him she works there. She never left college and her graduation is three years long, it isn't possible that she completed it.
