This is more of a question than a comment I suppose.I'm a late bloomer Garth Brooks/"Chris Gaines" fan. I totally missed out on the vh-1 documentary and would love to find out how to obtain a copy or even down load the clip. Also, just bought the Chris Gaines CD. Absolutely love it.I want more of that sound. The new look is very sexy. What is the latest news if any on the movie project?? Has the idea been ditched totally or is it still being worked on bit by bit? I do think where the idea didn't do so well before, perhaps now it will. It is 2004, maybe now more minds will be open to the idea and try to understand it better whereas they did not(or just didn't want to) a few years ago when it was first introduced.
The "Chris Gaines Project" has been an eye and ear opener for everyone. Garth really shows his vocal range and writing talent. This album is an Excellent piece of work, and the Doumentary is a really engrosing film. I very much enjoyed watching this and was very surprised by Garth's acting ability. I am eagerly awaiting "The Lamb" but at last check, Paramount was none too thrilled to give the film the go ahead. Dismal sales of the CD and lackluster support from the public may kill this project before it has a chance to even be filmed. 4 out of 5
Contrary to what others who've commented seem to think, this was NOT the Chris Gaines episode of "VH1: Behind the Music," but was instead a TV special that aired on NBC (later the same week, Garth appeared on "SNL" in dual roles as himself and Chris). Unlike ALL of the other NBC Brooks TV specials, the network never reran it and it wasn't released on video, which is pitiful.
Mostly a (fantastic) live concert, this featured Garth singing songs from the then-forthcoming Chris Gaines album. Between songs and commercials, he gave some details about the ill-fated tie-in film "The Lamb" as well as background information on the fictional rock star and his ideas about the project. Unfortunately, the project never got beyond the album.
I'm not particularly a fan of Garth's, but I caught this when it aired and was instantly intrigued by the project and enamored with the music. Apparently I was in the minority. The album didn't sell well, the film was scrapped, and they've since tried to sweep it under the rug (Brooks' official website doesn't even cite the Chris Gaines album). I wish they'd release this on DVD (perhaps double-packaged with the VH1 show, which I've never seen) -- it gives a lot of interesting details on Gaines and the film that never was... and it's a great concert too.

I saw this documentary last night on VH1 and I thought this was one of the most interesting alter-ego stories I've ever seen or heard of. It's much better than Roseanne's, "Candy Bar". It just seems like having an alter ego is becoming popular among artists or performers that seem to have briefly been faded from the spotlight.
