A mother's overbearing and unhealthy love for her only biological son will lead to the realization of a despicable plot that ends up ruining the lives of many individuals.

Carlos Larios is the head of one of the most important pharmaceutical laboratories in Mexico, but he dies in a terrible way after he uncovers a horrible secret kept from him for decades. He is survived by his older son Jose Carlos who is addicted to gambling, Alejandro who's married to a woman he loves but cannot have children because she is sterile, and his wife Catalina Creel who lost her right eye in an accident when Jose Carlos, who is not her biological son stuck a toy in her eye by accident. Upon his passing, he leaves his fortune to his children with certain clauses: Jose Carlos will not be able to touch his share until he gets married and Alejandro won't be able to touch his until he has a child. But because Alejandro's wife is sterile, he will use the innocence of country girl Leonora to obtain a child, instead of adopting one. Catalina will go to great and obscure lengths to make sure her future and the legacy of her bloodline are secure, and will not have compassion for anyone standing in her way.
