A couple of months ago, I was pre-ordering a bunch of dvds when I came across this upcoming release of a film entitled CROCODILE---I didn't know much, if anything about it, but then I found out it was directed by TOBE HOOPER and thinking to myself "This is the man responsible for one of the greatest horror flicks of all time--THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE--it can't be that bad", so I ordered it. Well, I just got it the other day, popped it in and----ENJOYED THE HELL OUT OF IT! Tobe Hooper still has what it takes to get jolt out of people. I admit, the story has pretty much been done to death, but I really think that Tobe has put his own little twist on it and breathed new, um, "life" into it. The actor's done really well for being complete unknowns--in fact, I really hated a couple of the characters, and kept rooting for the Croc to eat them! This movie actually made me jump 4 times! Which is great for me---after so many years of watching fright flick after fright flick--I've become somewhat immune to the parts that make other people jump--so it felt damn good! For that Tobe, THANK YOU! I know, the first thing people will think when they see this title on the shelf---another LAKE PLACID (which was another great film in it's own way)--but even though it has it's similarities--it's a completely different film, so bare that in mind--and go out and rent (or buy!) this movie---you're definitely in for a campy little treat.
It's the year 2000, and things haven't been going so well for Tobe Hooper. For, like, fifteen years. So when he gets a chance to do something different, with some actual money behind it (nearly $3 million, apparently), he takes a chance.
Crocodile basically tries to cross-breed Scream with Lake Placid, with decidedly mixed results. I've seen worse animals in various SyFy movies, and Tobe wisely doesn't even try to hide Croc's shortcomings, just letting him all hang out for the most part.
Nope, the main problem is with the Scream teens. Most of them are totally unlikeable, and the ones we're supposed to care about are dry white toast on legs.
However, this is better lensed than most movies of this ilk, and there's enough with, visual and verbal, to make this worth your 90 minutes, if only to see what Hooper was up to during Y2K.

I brought this for 6 bucks and it came with two other cheapo budget movies Spiders and Octopus (such creative names). But Crocodile which I expected to be the lamest one, shocked me as being the more enjoyable one. Although the CGI is horrible and a few of the characters are so boring that you don't notice they're eaten, there are some plus points.
Duncan is without a doubt every womans nightmare and the coolest guy in the movie, he's funny and a typical guy.. very believable because he even looks the type that he plays.
Brandy is the typical pretty boy star of the film, but one thing that stunned me.. he COULD act, he stole the film for me and really impressed me. I'm quite surprised to see he's had no roles in any slightly big movies. He's a good actor, plays the character well and is a very believable teenager.
The rest of the cast are not so great, Claire is the best actress in the movie but Sunny has more of a character to her.
The plot is what you'd expect and although the Croc Hunter (who's name escapes me) is a poor actor and made me laugh out of lack of ability to do his totally 20 lines well, just remember.. he's just an extra meal and u won't mind him.
Overall an enjoyable film which I'm glad I brought at an average of 2 bucks :) Props out to Duncan and Brandy.. I'll give this film a *** out of *****

Well, it's crap, but it's entertaining crap. A lot of people judge this movie very harshly because it was directed by Tobe Hooper and I can't blame them. This isn't a good movie. It's silly, it panders to the teen crowd with awful dialogue and stupid jokes. The crocodile is laughable. Bad CGI. But there a few moments I do enjoy, some nice cinematography and overhead scenes of the lake and forest. And if you're a fan of the campy teen scare scene you'll probably enjoy the beginning at least a bit.
Overall I'd say it's very middle of the road.
This movie is slightly flawed. But Tobe Hooper can direct. I loved this movie. It was better then lake placid. Mr. hooper puts in some good scares. It will make you think twice before leaning over a dock. The film is just a joyride. It's a good old fashioned monster movie. Much better then Anaconda

- TriviaWhile filming at The Sable Ranch location in California , the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees union (I.A.T.S.E.),tried to organize the production. Production of the movie shut down when the filming crew went on strike, forcing the producers to continue filming the movie in Mexico, outside of union jurisdiction .
- ErroresClaire, Brady and Duncan jump from a blazing boat, but there are no flames by the time they get to dry land.

Annabelle: I've survived 19 years in New York City. Murders, rapists, muggers, you name it! Now I'm gonna be eaten by a fucking monster?
Duncan McKay: Annabelle, why don't you take the phone profinity and shove it up your ass!
