Hi Star Trek fans, this game is must buy, but needs a good processor and a 3-D card. The game storyline is great. The graphics are 2nd to none. But the phasers all look the same! Look at the Romulans, Fed, Borg and Klingons. The torpedoes are the same design, and they dont look as real as in the series, and the phasers are all the same color except for the Dominion and Baku. Well this is a must buy, the special weapons are great. Best intro I have seen, the Chain Reaction Pulsar is so cool. Well live long and prosper.
Excellent video game from the introduction video to game finish! The storyline starts after ST:Insurrection and includes surprises from Star Trek: TNG, DS9, Voyager, and TOS. A videocard like the Voodoo 3 or Riva TNT2 is highly recommended for smooth gameplay. This game is a must buy for Star Trek and game strategy fans!
Star Trek Armada takes place both after the Dominion war of DS9 and Insurrection for TNG. In this game you get to play one of four races, the Federation, the Klingons, the Romulans, and the Borg. The gameplay is similar to most other real time strategy games out there like Command and Conquer or Warcraft/Starcraft.
This game is top quality when it comes to its easy to use interface, highly detailed textures, and wonderful voice acting by Patrick Stewart, Michael Dorn, Denise Crosby, and other regulars like J.G. Hertzler (Chancelor Martok from DS9).
The gameplay is quite balanced between the four races, none more powerful than the other. However there are some racial adavantages that may make one race more interesting to play than another. For example, all Klingon and Romulan ships can cloak, to Borg can assimilate an enemy ship to take it over, etc.
Graphically this game is impressive as well. While the intro movie and cut sequences are pre-rendered, all gameplay, even the beginning of the "episodes" are rendered using the game engine. I recommend a higher end system to get optimal performance with this game. I'm running an AMD K62 550, 192MB RAM, and a Voodoo 5500 AGP with 64MB RAM on the card, and the game runs like a dream.
Its about time that the Star Trek license is being used to make GOOD games for a change, with Klingon Academy and Elite Force.

This game isn't THAT bad... The only problem that i have with it is that
it keeps CRASHING!!!
The graphics in this game are totally mindblowing, i like the fact that
its simple and easy to play and also able to keep but at the same
time!!! IT has everything that you need to have a good time as well as
get involved with a good story line, each of the ships are balanced
against each other but what really sets the species apart are the
different special abilities of the respective ships.
This game is good and is a good play, not something that i would go out
and play non stop for ages, but its something that i would play when i'm
bored and have nothing else t

This is simply a great game. It is best played when you follow the different formats. i.e. First play as the federation, then the klingons, then the romulins, and finally the borg.
Simply awesome, too bad i have not been able to play much of it lately.
