Series rumored to be heavily inspired by Riyoko Ikeda's 'Rose of Versailles'
The Student Council's oath, more commonly known as "the chick speech", is a variation of, "The bird fights its way out of the egg. The egg is the world. Who would be born first must destroy a world. The bird flies to God. That God's name is Abraxas" from Herman Hesse's Demian. It is a direct tie into the multiple Gnostic themes of the show.

Chu-chu is a monkey. This is easier to see in the manga, where he has more hair. Also, in episode 8, when Saionji and Chu-chu switch places, he is seen in a tree eating a banana.
Himemiya's name consists of 'princess' (hime) and 'shinto shrine' (miya).
