This film is warm, romantic for all generations to enjoy.
It's quality of direction is excellent. The actors in this film are a true treasure. This film should be used as an outline for good romantic stories. By today's standards, we should be able to look back and give credit where credit is due! What is being done to preserve these Spanish classics? Can anyone help me find where to make its purchase, please. Is there an address available? A phone number? Is anyone doing something to conserve this fantastic footage. I have friends that are as interested as me to get more information. Will somebody write to me?

Although this adaptation of Stefan Zweig's novella 'Letter from an unknown Woman' cannot begin to match Max Ophul's superlative version of 1942 it nevertheless has great merit and qualifies as a 'tear-jerker' par excellence.
Ricardo, the object of María's undying love, is a professional violinist so we are treated to parts of the Tchaikovsky and Beethoven concerti recorded for the film by the great Henryk Szeryng whilst Raúl Lavista has also contributed a haunting theme. The production design and cinematography are of the highest quality.
It is the performances of Arturo de Córdova as Ricardo and Marga López as María that leave an indelible mark. The simpatico between the two is truly remarkable and in retrospect is even more touching in that these marvellous artistes were to be married a few years later and remain so until de Córdova's death in 1973. He deservedly won an Ariel, the last of three, for his understated performance. What can one say of Margo López? She might not have possessed the 'wow' factor of Félix or del Rio but was indisputably one of the finest actresses of Mexico's Golden Age with a wide emotional range and her ability to touch the heart is never more apparent than here.
Tullio Demicheli's film has a magical, bittersweet quality of its own and to paraphrase the Bard: "If you have tears, prepare to shed them......."

This romantic film, is really an academic principle in teaching the real meaning of love... flourished inside the heart of a beautiful woman called María (Marga Lopez, recently passed away), that with gracefulness carry her hopeless sadly love hoping that her beloved gentleman, the violinist Ricardo Caso (Arturo De Córdova), could remember the only night where both found themselves trapped in a revealing night of love... In the end, both ways collide again as the last opportunity to stay together but... One can understand that the life gives just one chance to be completely happy (maybe two times), but the selfish human being pass blindly through the life and refuse to take what most of the times is in front of him...So, How are you going to pass the rest of your life?...Good Luck!
