Let me start by saying I'm not a MK fanboy. years ago I saw the first MK movie and I found it highly entertaining. Then I learned of the existence of Conquest and I went to have a look see.
The first thing you notice is that it'll all kinda... shoddy. It's made on a budget apparently. Either that or some producer now has a marble patio. No matter. Conquest looks and feels kinda crappy but boy is it entertaining.
It starts out slow. I was scratching my head when I saw the cardboard Outworld arena and the choppy acting. I told myself I'd give it 3 episodes to prove itself. Imagine my surprise when in episode 2 one of the nicer characters pops in.
Then as it went on, it got better and better. The acting improved, oneliners became quite epic, scenarios became better and before I knew it I was kinda hooked. The story actually sucked me in.
Conquest is one of those series that is made by people with a lot of passion and little money. But it doesn't matter. it's very entertaining to watch and it only gets better and better as the show goes on. The fight scenes are sometimes a bit crummy but some of them are downright cool. Especially everyone's favorite ninja cousins put up 1 hell of a show(I'm looking at you, Rain) The special effects are sub par but let's be honest: it's about the hands and feet anyway. Not the fireballs.
So yes, It's definitely very good fun to watch. Grab some beer and popcorn. Lean back, chuckle at the few forgivable flaws and have fun.
Series 2 got cancelled. Damn. I'd have loved to see another season of this budget-fun.

When I first watched this show, I didn't think it would last too long because of the mediocre acting and the ridiculous gymkata style martial arts. The acting has somewhat improved to my liking, but the martial arts is *DEFINITELY* worthy of watching now! More episodes dealing with the characters origins, like 'The Master', will give this show even more substance. I would love to see a show, or two, entirely about Shao Khan or Rayden. I guess that means Jeffrey Meek would be pulling double duty!

Despite the disappointing beginnings, this series really picks up speed for a thrilling finale which certainly left me a bit stunned.
At the start of the series it seemed this was just another lame TV program which would be cancelled after five shows; the fight scenes and Taja were the only things which kept your interest while the stories tailed off half way through. However the more episodes you saw, more characters were added and as the acting improved, so did the plots.
By the end Conquest had made up for both the early episodes and the awful Annihilation. The only questions that remain are as to whether there will be another series and just why Taja was hardly ever involved in the fights after an impressive first bout.
As good as could be expected.

Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Kung Lao, Reptile, Raiden, Shang Tsung, Shao Kahn, Quan Chi, Noob Saibot, Kitana, Mileena, Reiko, some others. All these characters, who found a place in this TV series, do not need a special introduction.
The project, which came out on screens closer to the millennium, in its own way raised the quality bar, which had somewhat dropped after the previous screen adaptation, to its former heights. The action moved from modern times to ancient times, and the events unfolded in a small town. Over the course of twenty-two episodes, Kung Lao, as well as two new and unique characters for the series, find themselves in various situations ranging from everyday sketches and a tournament known to viewers to confronting the machinations of people from other worlds, among whom there was also a place for a whole range of new colorful personalities.
Among other things, a characteristic significant difference from the previous two films was that the key antagonists here are not just some obligatory decoration, but individuals driven by their own, often ambiguous, motives, such as Sub-Zero, Reptile or Shang Tsung's new assistant. This aspect is complemented by a well-appointed entourage and fights, which today may seem somewhat naively constructed, but in general do not lose in context.
The work was in demand and it was assumed that, at a minimum, a second season would be filmed. In the end, circumstances turned out differently, and the ending remained open and, to some extent, it was later played out in its own way in the ninth numbered part of the game series, which was released in 2011.

Worse show to watch even when you have nothing to do. The first five minutes made me want to vomit in terror, because if this was to pass off as a true prequel to the films then they insult Paul Anderson,John Tobias, and Ed Boon. How it lasted to a season finally would boggle anyone's mind who enjoy television. The fighting is below subpar even with real fighters the writing is even worse. If I wore to try to watch it again I would scream to shut it off. What are they thinking giving this catastrophe a better score than the first film, I mean I'm a fan of both the original, reboot, and video games and it put me through the worst pain in my Life.

MKC was an excellent series. I never saw the first couple of episodes because i never knew it was on. When i found out i go hooked on it. But, I agree with some of on the fact that Kung Lao character should have been a little bit stronger. His meant to be the champion and leader. Jeffery Meek is an excellent actor the 2 roles he played were excellent. So were Taja, Siro, Shang Tsung and Quan Chi. The ending of the series was superb. It would have made for an excellent second season. New characters could have been added and what really happened to Rayden, Kung Lao and his gang could have been explained. And who the untouchable black cloaked guys were. You cant kill them. It's been along time since i saw the series so I've forgotten what they were.

I loved the first movie, hated the second. Heard about this show, but never saw it before. I found this in Poundland. The disc had five episodes.
I watched it and my God, it was dull!
It was talking and talking and talking and talking!
And when it does get to the fight scenes, even they're boring!
The acting is lame and the dire-logue is cringeworthy. Very Saturday cartoonish. Plus this is set 500 years before the events of the first movie and we have characters saying "Bathroom break" and "This sucks".
They keep using the same shot from the first movie where we have the outside of the temple. You can tell it is from the first movie because we can see Liu Kang and his Grandpa in the background as clear as day. Why not digitally remove them?
Sub-Zero's costume and Shao Kahn's helmet are so cheep looking due to the show's low budget.
Apart from Tracy Douglas' nude scene from the fourth episode, I can't think of anything good from this show.
And much like the movies, there is no gore. Boo.......
If another MK series is made, deliver on the gore please. Maybe the directors of "Turbo Kid" might do a reboot, hopefully.

Not typical for a girl (woman already) but Mortal Kombat is my all time favorite game franchise. I love original MK movie very much, the 2nd one was weaker but its fighting moments were even better than in the first MK movie. Finally, I watched this series and I was impressed. This PREQUEL was intriguing, catchy and entertaining. It was great to see some classic mk characters plus new ones - Siro, Taja, Vorpax. I still think that Ed Boon and his team should add Siro, Taja and Vorpax to the actual game as official fighters. Call me crazy but this is my point of view. Anyway, "Mortal Kombat: Conquest" was very cool Action/Adventure/Fantasy series with a very big potential. It should have lasted longer...
After this series I became a huge fan of Daniel Bernhardt, Kristanna Loken, Paolo Montalban and Tracy Douglas

As bad as this show is and trust me it is bad, it is not as bad as Kiss of the Vampire.
Back to this, the girls - the worst acting I've ever seen, and I'm old. When I say bad I mean BAD. I am thinking Jen must be the writer, producer, or daughter/wife of the writer, director or producer. There is no way a casting agent would legitimately give her a part. It is painful to watch. Costumes are terrible.
The men aren't terrible actors and the martial arts aren't awful, the script is so-so.
If you are looking for a good Mortal Kombat fix this is definitely one to pass on. Don't waste your time on this one - unless it was written, directed and produced by a middle school student and then I would say good job.

I started watching this show, cause I thought it was late night trash. Something to watch cause there was nothing else on. This all changed about 6-7 episodes into the series though. MKC started to introduce story arcs ( the characters memories arn't wiped after 45 mins for a new episode ). Things happen in this show, relationships and politics that you don't really expect.
At the end of every episode, I was left saying to myself " that was the best episode yet...". The final episode totally confirms this, seeing as the show was not revived for a 2nd series, this is probably the most refreshing finale I have ever seen.

me and a friend actually has this, bad film club. and in this club, we always go down to the video store and rent the movie that looks bad. and we found this movie, mortal combat two conquest. and believe me, i have watch a lot of bad movies. this is probably by far the worst thing i have ever seen. acting, plot, directing, music everything its just. nothing really. its so bad that it is nothing. everything from the lame fighting sequences with the porn like trance music to the bad jokes that really just makes me sad. and wtf with those spandex pants on kung lao? wtf?!? if it was a perfect movie, this is the complete opposite. it makes uwe boll lock like citizen kane. but ill give it 2. because its so bad that it deserves at least one point for badness. if your looking for a bad movie, see this.

This Mortal Kombat tv series only lasted 1 season and we aren't too surprised at that. The series is apparently set as a prequel to the original film released in 1995. The show starts off decent with some intrigue but every episode seems to drag on at certain parts. It was a drag getting through the entire season. There are minimal fights with decent stunt work but for the most part the acting was rather cheesy and subpar.
Kristanna Loken as Taja, and Tracy Douglas as Vorpax were the standouts. In the final few episodes, Kreeya was a solid character.
Overall the show just felt rather boring with not very interesting plots for each episodes. Perhaps this was considered good at the time of its release but it seemingly hasn't aged well.

Sure, the stories are tired out, juvenile, morality plays. Sure, they attach a 90's value system to people supposedly from times centuries past. Nevertheless, this thing has some of the coolest fight scenes ever shot. Besides, all the women look and dress like they just jumped out of an adolescent's daydream. Baywatch is nothing compared to these babes.

I am 14 years old and like martial arts a lot. I like this show because I think that it has some of the best fighting scenes you can see in any movie or show. Also I like the way they changed the storylines. I would love it if they continued to show more episodes, because here in canada we have only seen 9 episodes of it and they have repeated it from the first episode all over again. One more thing is that I like the outfits the women wears and Taja is enough for me to watch the show. For the guys though all I know is they are very good in martial arts except maybe for Kung lao because he uses a double but Siro and the stunts they're all good. But as for this show goes keep up the good work I think this show has potential to be one of the most watched show on T.V. give this show a chance and for the creators keep up the good work! For those people who hate it come on it's good give it a chance

I missed 99% of Mortal Kombat: Conquest's episodes when they originally aired. I have been able to see what I missed on VCD... and I missed one truly cool show! The acting isn't great, the plot's are a little convoluted and the FX are weak. On the flip side, the characters are entertaining, Kristianna Loken is HOT (so is Audie Englund who plays Kitana in 'Shadow of a Doubt'), the fights are spectacular (better than the fights in the pathetic 'Mortal Kombat: Annihilation') and the music is kickin! A fun show that isn't serious in the slightest degree. Get a soda, sit back and enjoy the show. Too bad it never went past one season.

I wonder why this series had only one season? I mean sure there were many inaccuracies and the fighting scenes could have been done a little bit better but overall the series kept you engaged right up till the very end. They also portrayed the characters to be very real with real issues which made the show more Human and less fictional, while exploring the emotional sides of the characters which is something none of the other MK movies had done. Even the fighting scenes were done well even though there were obvious glitches but considering how old this series is i feel they did a pretty good job in keeping all of them real. I hope they eventually decide to revive or remake the series since the show and storyline had great potential.

Orth American series of the year 98 that consists of a total of 22 episodes.
Well, we can say that for his modesty he looks pretty good in his sets, costumes and photography. The story becomes a prequel to Mortal Kombat, counting the echos starring Kun Lao, about a thousand years ago where the first film was located.
There are recognizable characters such as Kung Lao, Raiden, Shant Shung, Quan Chi, Scorpion and Sub Zero and Reptile, as well as characters created for the occasion as Taja, Siro, Vorpax etc ...
Well, taking into account that it is a completely televised product, and rather modest, it is enough entertaining, even if you are a Mortal Kombat fan you may come to like that somewhat bizarre mixture of parallel worlds, creatures, sculptural women, super men .
The best: Kristanna Loken, here redhead and who is to eat it, the actor who plays Shang Shung does not do anything wrong, has a bad face as Cary Hiroyuki Tagawa, and some fights are well choreographed. Tracy Douglas as Vorpax, short his breath with every movement he makes, Jeff Meek excellent and friendly, like Raiden, the scenarios correctly recreated.
The worst: Daniel Bernhardt, like Siro, a really bad actor, the unknown Paolo Montalbán never convinces me like the monk Kun Lao, in fact the actor does not even know martial arts, being replaced by a double when the situation requires it.
Recommended especially for fans of the game.

This is probably the best of the video game to TV adaptation that I've seen. Threshold did an excellent job in the way that they mixed the gaming element: characters such as Kung Lao, Rayden, Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Shang Tsung, and even the legendary Noob Saibot... with the movie elements, bringing new characters such as Taja, Vorpax, and Siro just to name a few. Perhaps one of the greatest aspects is the true fighting skill the actors, actresses, and in some cases, stunt doubles, display. This isn't the old "Biff" "Pow" type episode. It is very well-done martial arts being displayed, and quite energizing to watch! Congrats on a job well done!

Yeah the fighting is laughable, but boy this show is entertaining. Great characters, cool stories, sexy babes everywhere and Jeffrey Meek the best Raiden/Shao Khan ever. They must've had a blast filming this. The 3 movies and Legacy series don't even come close to this entertainment wise.

I own the series on DVD and thought it was fantastic from episode 1! Raiden was perfect with his funny punch lines all the way to his sick kills and power! Kung Lao was amazing. Only thing with him is that he needed his signature hat to make him perfect. It is great that the actors have a bit of martial arts backgrounds
I wish the series would come back and I have heard that they are redoing a movie scheduled for 2017 which is fantastic. I have been a huge mortal kombat fan since grade school and with some of my collection of mk merchandise now being more valuable than ever but not just value but also a great franchise in general.
