I have seen this TV show and I really like it. I enjoy it because it is the adventures that Hercules had growing up. If you like Hercules Legendary Journeys you should watch this show! This show also has cute guys in it!
This is the adventures of a young half-God Hercules (Ryan Gosling), son of Zeus. He is a student at Cheiron's Academy. His friends are fellow students Iolaus and Prince of Corinth Jason. He is often battling the God Ares with his lackeys, Strife and Discord. Lilith is the first and only female Academy cadet. Kora runs the local hangout.
At least, this has Gosling. This is an offshoot of the Xena universe. In addition to this being a Young something show, it is also a half hour show. It makes this feel like a junior show in the verse. It only had one season although that is 50 episodes. One issue is the three male bro group. It needs a female fourth. They do try to include Lilith after the early shows, but she is not a main character in every episode. Mostly, this is young Gosling spreading his wings and that's somewhat interesting.

Developed and produced by Robert Tapert and Sam Raimi, we follow the titular Young Hercules (Ryan Gosling), in his prequel years prior to the more adult focused series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys. From the same universe as Xena: Princess Warriors, but now for a considerably younger audience, the series puts (now) heartthrob Gosling as the lead, as he gets into continuous trouble with his father Zeus, the vengeful Hera, and of course the angry Ares and all this goons. Hercules is joined by his schoolmates Iolaus and Jason, three magnificent dude-bros out on their like totally awesome adventures man. Very lighthearted throughout, the shows really silly, lots of acrobatics and rubber weapons, and foley artists making the most ridiculous bangs and clangs every fight. It feels much like the kids genre of its time, almost as inspired by the likes of Power Rangers than Hercules, but it does what it wanted to I guess. Unless you're a big Gosling fan, or just love campy tv, I wouldn't likely recommend.
The television series of "Young Hercules" was not a useless one. From my perspective, it was a good show for the younger audience, especially considering it was called YOUNG Hercules. The actors did well in their roles and the show was great for kids. The show was not meant to be as fantastic or awe-inspiring as were the originals, it was meant for younger people. It is an interesting show when one is twelve or thirteen. "Young Hercules" was a means of gaining a wider audience. The story lines had to remain simple enough for children, not complicated as in the adult versions. So when one comments on how foolish something is, they should really look at it in order to understand it better. And after all, it is not serious - it's mythology.
part of a fashion about Ancient Greek hero, it can not be original or surprising. its virtue is the freshness, the inspired manner to create a series for kids in which the adventures are expressions of basic values and the spirit of age. it is not really serious or dramatic or exotic. but each of that sins is important for a coherent message. because it is an introduction in the universe of myth and the art to give the perfect language for present it is not a small detail. so, an useful series. for a public who search the emotions of great events, who preserves the resources of imagination and for who the life/word is a conquest of every day.short, a nice work. interesting as class tool and for the definition of start in life for a great hero.

- TriviaEarly on in the series, special visual effects were conceived by Richard Taylor's Weta Workshop, the then little known visual effects company that went on to win several Academy Awards for their work on The Lord of the Rings. Weta and Richard Taylor stepped off Young Hercules early on to work on Lord of the Rings. In fact, the early production days of Young Hercules saw many of its crew leave to work on the then little known Peter Jackson sensation, Lord of the Rings.
