Super Adventure Team

This is the best comedy with marionettes ever made! This six episode series was aired on MTV a few years ago and disappeared. One of the producers is the very funny comedian Dana Gould. Especially in light of that horrible piece of junk that came out last year--"Team America: World Police" (made by the South Park creators). SAT is well written, witty, and has great characters. This series is currently unavailable anywhere (I have three bootleg episodes). I hope that the production company that has the rights to this show release it on DVD, because it is hilarious! I have no idea how anybody is going to find out about this series if you didn't catch it when it aired. Anybody out there in the business, please do what you can to have this made available.

Super Adventure Team was a parody of those creey marionette sci-fi action shows of the 60's such as "Thunderbirds"

Sarcastic Gen X comedy that injects adult situations (sexual tension, etc) into the shows of Gen-X's past.

Cut after just a few episodes by MTV

I believe it was mismarketed, should have been on comedy central or "Adult Swim" Cartoon Network. Smae comic values as "Adult Swim" It was a little too Gen-X for MTV's younger viewers in '98

Like much of the MTV programming, Super Adventure Team was not given a chance. They only aired a few episodes and seemingly never at a predetermined time, which was MTVs habit back then. The premise does sound off the wall, but the writing was sharp and well executed. It was very amusing and hopefully it will be released on DVD someday. Although a parody of the marionette shows of the 60s, a younger audience would appreciate the humor, just like many of the Adult Swim shows cater to a wide audience. That being said, Super Adventure Team is not one for the kiddies! There was a reason it was shown on MTV. Maybe we can get this added to the Adult Swim line-up?

Here is another short lived program that didnt get the respect it deserved.Fully off the wall and very low budget,it nevertheless was a unique and welcomed addition to the MTV line up....while it lasted.Now the movie "Team America" seems to be torn totally from the blueprint of Super Adventure Team.Marionettes out to save the world.Ummm....sounds familiar.They even have a female member (Talia Criswell anyone?).We'll see if it does any better on the big screen than SAT did on MTV... I urge MTV and the creators of this series to release the few episodes that aired (and the couple that didnt) on DVD soon.Now is the time.Take advantage of the interest in the "feature film" thats coming and apply some of that enthusiasm toward SAT,rightfully where it belongs! "Damn you Buck Murdock!" lol

I heard (on NPR) that Gerry Anderson (creator of the brilliant Thunderbirds series) bought the rights to 'Super Adventure Team.'

That's why it can never be rebroadcast.

Unfortunate, since with 'Team America: World Police' coming out soon, now would be a good time for the sister MTV division to relaunch SAT.

There was also a 'Thunderbirds' parody on Saturday Night Live (The Go Lords) and of course the Orbitz commercial.

I highly recommend catching an episode of the original 'Thunderbirds'(1964), or its evil twin 'Captain Scarlet' (1967), as an introduction to this genre.

Andersons' crew clearly had to relearn film-making and especially editing to work effectively with puppet stars. The result is the unique quick cut style that still holds up today.
