This is a classic dog and teen story, nothing like Lassie, but from the heart! This movie is about a rich man who dies and leaves his wealth to his dog, to the dismay of his greedy relatives. A dog psychiatrist is brought to care for the dog, and they figure out the real cause of the owner's demise. I hope to see this movie on DVD soon, not for me but for others who will enjoy this great film. I gave it an 8 because it isn't a film for theaters, but it is a great Disney channel movie! One of the best Disney Channel movies I've ever seen. This cast is a great one even though they aren't a cast seen every day. Only one bad thing is that you cant find this movie unless you tapped it! Good thing I did!
What if you knew what a Dog was really saying and thinking? Maybe it could earn you millions as it does in this film. A neat plot, with a good way to portray it. The acting is a little stiff by everyone, except Kirk Cameron and Noble in the film. They were MUCH too good actors/actress' to get a role in this silly film. I must say that Kirk Cameron did a wonderful role in this film, and acted his part perfect. He also knew how to act a Dog, which isn't easy. For some people, this movie may be a little Far Fetched, but all together, it is a good, funny, entertaining movie, with Kirk Cameron as a great actor! Don't bark up the wrong tree, just sit back and watch a good fun movie with all.
Even before Disney Channel became a lot more of a laughing stock when it comes to movies, it used to be a simple collection of kids films. And for this as a debut, it is pretty weird. But honestly, not in a good way. You Lucky Dog has debuted Disney Channel Original Movies in a confusing and uncomfortable start. At first, I thought it would just be a your typical dog movie. But it was actually more than that, just a series of craziness whenever John acts like a dog apparently when Lucky gets excited. Which would make the jokes at best, a hit and miss. And it would affect how when I say confusing, I'm talking about the story. The actors have shown they were having fun with this film, but the characters are pretty childish. And the editing shows this belongs as straight to television quality. But it is rather harmless and couldn't really be angry with this because it is something kids will love. But if you want to see what a Disney Channel movie debut is, then I guess I won't stop you. Even if Lucky is worth millions, I'd rather spend time with normal dogs instead.
Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Fun seeing so many recognizable actors like the guy that plays Q in Star Trek, Uncle Phil from Fresh Prince, and even just extras I've seen from Gilmore Girls, Friends, etc. Kirk Cameron did a good job portraying his character pretty believably. The premise is kind of dumb and the family members are very stereotypical rich snobs. Just a silly little Disney movie! Still only a 5/10 though which to me is "okay, but probably will not watch again". I saw a list ranking all the Disney Channel's Original movies starting in 1997 and this was the earliest one I could find on Disney +.
Cameron does a great job in this TV movie. It is so hilarious to see a grown man acting like a dog. When you think about it, it can kind of make you laugh before you even see the movie. It has some great acting, and so this makes it an enjoyable movie to watch.
