The hounds are ready for the chase, as are the fat hunters being lifted by derrick onto their horses. Meanwhile, in the kennels reserved for them, the foxes cheer for their representative who will lead the pursuers in the chase.

It's a very good Terrytoon for the era, with a musical start and finish, simple but amusing character designs, and very fluid animation. The last is a byword for Shamus Culhane, who directed this with Burt Gillett. Both are names that are rather forgotten these days, but Culhane in particular, who had a long career in animation that stretched form 1925 through 1967, is worthy of being called one of the greats. He worked at almost every studio in that time, from Bray to Paramount, and his best remembered work is probably the stuff he did in the middle of the 1940s, bringing Woody Woodpecker to his peak in cartoons like THE BARBER OF SEVILLE. After his retirement from animation, he wrote two books, one about his life in the field and the other a well-regarded textbook on the subject. He died in 1996 and the age of 87.
